the crappening

June 21, 2008

i went to see “the happening” this week…i wasn’t expecting “the sixth sense,” but i had faith it would be watchable. this movie could not have been a bigger sh*t sandwich.

in the following cartoon, i wish i was stewie, and m night shyamalan was will ferrell.

“that’s not a good movie,”

  1. axrinekey on June 27, 2008 at 8:26 am

I wanted to watch “the happening”, I thought it would be great.
    Still haven’t watch. 😦

    The clip was…. random! xD

  2. I_B_Long on June 26, 2008 at 7:12 am

i gave up on movies by M. night shyamalan a long time ago. loved the sixth sense, hate “signs”, disliked “unbreakable” and wasnt the village one of his too? i wouldnt even consider wasting another 90 minutes of my life watching another one of his movies.
awesome clip btw. gotta love stewie!

  3. Princess_MuzikChik on June 25, 2008 at 7:12 pm

I disagree with you, I thought the happening was a very good movie!
It was definately no sixth sense, but it was good….
I love how his movies always have underlying messages =]

  4. jadedjc6981 on June 25, 2008 at 5:18 pm

Can’t be worse than the film adaptation of Timeline, I was talking back to the screen cause they changed EVERYTHING!!!! The novel by Michael Crichton was brilliant!, the film adaptation was horrendous! I’m still curious to see (maybe when its out on DVD) What Stewie did to Will Farell was what I wanted to do to the cast /crew/director/etc of Timeline after I saw it

  5. snapscratch on June 25, 2008 at 5:05 am

hey there mike! dude… how did you ended up at a romanian (!) site? that video kicks ass man!

  6. Lolo on June 25, 2008 at 3:29 am

    hahaha lmao
Still wonder why you went to see it when I heard from different sources that it was a bad movie lol
Ah well now most people know about it and won’t go see it thanks to your wonderful review.
Oh only 4 days to go now until I see you guys live at the Milton Keynes Bowl :D:D:D !!! Can’t wait to be there and experience an amazing concert ^_^
    Cya soon…

  7. WaitingForMidnight on June 24, 2008 at 3:48 am

  9. Madlen on June 23, 2008 at 5:18 pm

haha well i watched it too and it does suck:Dthat’s why i finally went to see indiana jones:Dthat was worth it:D

  10. AbstractRealism on June 23, 2008 at 1:06 pm

  11. rockermeg on June 23, 2008 at 12:04 pm

Hahahaha!!!!Oh my God…I love it when he punches him!! XD Could not stop laughing!

    roflcopters!! XD

Yeah The Happening sucks…whereas the Sixth Sense was brilliant! I mean..yes I was only 8 when I saw it but who cares?I was only 6 when I started listening to you guys…granted I also like S Club and Avril Lavigne…sorry guys, but hey atleast I still love you!! πŸ™‚

  12. Ilo on June 23, 2008 at 7:43 am

Hey Mike, I havenΒ΄t seen “the happening” yet and after your comment I think I wonΒ΄t go to the cinema…….I loved “the sixth sence”! While watching the movie you think youΒ΄re understanding everything but at the end of it you recognice that you were wrong!!!! ThatΒ΄s so fantastic. IΒ΄ve never had that experience that after a movie no one wants to leave the cinema. Everyone was sitting, staring at the sreen and shaking their heads. That was amazing!!!

  13. Zanga1221 on June 23, 2008 at 5:44 am

Hey Mike, for the first time i will probably have to disagree with you lol. I saw The Happening and thought it was really quite good, i want to know what you didn’t like about it, the story line, acting, ending.. please don’t say all lol but then again everyone is different and i respect that.

  14. maria on June 23, 2008 at 5:35 am

I know that my comment is rather harsh and controversy but it’s only my opinion about it)
    So no offense), Mike)

  15. maria on June 23, 2008 at 5:33 am

well, I’m afraid Mike but this movie goes without an idea( And there’s no an impressionism in its’ plot)
It’s like those cartoons where violence is placed in the first place and is projected onto the reality teaching the teens to act like that child( And also the values that the human being had, seemed to be replaced and overturned by a new moral(
This is the worst thing about it(, I’m afraid. Because when we replace one value on another one (in this case another one is violence) we enter automatically into another crisis of perception and crisis of morality(.
This movie, I’m afraid, is a trash(.

  16. cookiesnher0in on June 23, 2008 at 4:48 am

lmao, have I told you how much I love you lately? Speaking of The Happening, when I first saw the trailer I was like WTF. It’s basically just like SHIT. IS. HAPPENING! I was kinda curious just to know exactly why shit is happening, but it sounds like it’s not worth it.

  17. Shinodabestfriend on June 23, 2008 at 2:02 am

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!! Since you posted this video I can’t stop looking at it!!!!!! I always imagine that you look it and I can’ t stop laughing!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! πŸ˜€ …..I almost understand what you mean…… I want to see that movie….. so I know what you mean….. πŸ˜‰ and I will laugh there too because I imagine how you were bored…. HAHAHAHAH!!! ……I’m a Shinoda dipendent…… -.- πŸ˜€

  18. twix on June 22, 2008 at 11:37 pm

My sister saw The Happening and she also said it wasn’t good!

LOL…the Stewie clip is just too funny!!! I wish I can do like him every time I watch a movie that sucks!!!

  19. lynndarwinharris on June 22, 2008 at 6:03 pm

I agree a piece of Crap.

  20. amp101 on June 22, 2008 at 3:23 pm

    Nice one!

Wasn’t into seeing this movie…glad you’ve reaffirmed that I definitely not see it.

  21. Arsalan on June 22, 2008 at 1:56 pm

Haha! its like you took the words right out of my mouth! movie sucked big time.

  22. CHEN_IL on June 22, 2008 at 12:51 pm

    hahahhahaah XD stroonngg!!!

  23. ColorScheming on June 22, 2008 at 11:12 am

HAHAHA i did the same thing you did! that movie blew some balls. As well as the strangers. oh god the strangers was aweful! the happening was better than the strangers, so that tells you how bad the strangers suck. Idc how much money anybody has. dont waste your money on seeing that, it will just waste your time that you could be doing something else thats interesting.

  24. keineAhnung on June 22, 2008 at 10:19 am

DEFINITELY AGREE!!!…I was so disappointed when I went out of the cinema…there were some scenes, like the one with the swing, where I was like: something important will happen right now (FINALLY), but it was just another scene without any sense, just to create some fake thrill…the whole film was like: running, people commiting suicide and more running…even his film “signs” was way better than “the happening”

ROFLMAO @family guy…love this episode!! (even if american dad is way better)

  25. Xenith on June 22, 2008 at 9:30 am

LMAO well said Mike well said!

  26. Emilia on June 22, 2008 at 7:18 am

I’ve thought that It would be nice to see The Happening, but it’s not good enought that I would go to the movies to watch it πŸ˜€ That Stewie clip reminded me of a South Park episode, where Stan and other guys were disappointed about the movie Passion Of The Christ, and they went to ask Mel Gibson their movie ticket moneys back :DD

  27. Loukkid on June 22, 2008 at 7:02 am

I went to see “the happening” today πŸ™‚ it’s not funny BUT !!!! that’s good movie πŸ™‚

I like this movie (in the end ….. it’s romantic)

  28. ShadowerLiltani on June 22, 2008 at 6:22 am

By the way, I heart Stewie. I love the one when he beats the crap out of Brian for the money… I agree with Marlena, I can see you punching M. Night Shyamalan, or anyone for that matter. BTW, maybe where you live it’s different, but, where I’m at movie tickets are like, 7 to 10 bucks. If me, my mom, and my dad all went to go see it, we’d be shelling out 30 bucks. Even the Indiana Jones movie (I happened to be in downtown New Haven the day they filmed there, mad bragging rights) is not worth 30 bucks. I personally wait until movies come out on video and rent them from Netflix. Two movies for five dollars a month πŸ˜€

  29. Y_ on June 22, 2008 at 6:18 am

haha, i really like the way u express ur feelings!! πŸ˜‰

i haven’t seen the movie yet, so i’m not gonna say anything for now…

  30. ShadowerLiltani on June 22, 2008 at 6:11 am

I saw a clip of it, and I thought it had very good writing. The only movie of his I haven’t seen is Signs, and I’ve pretty much loved everything he’s done. He’s not just a director, he’s also a writer, and his story telling is great. Even if it’s a crappy movie to some, I always appreciate that part of his work. I wanna see it just to know exactly what is happening XD

  31. Marlena_LP on June 22, 2008 at 12:37 am

Hahaa i like bad movies. I actually sit there and mock everyone in it. ItΒ΄s quite funny xD
P.S.: Can imagine you punching m night shyamalan…ahahaha
    Greetings from Munich!!!

  32. nillp on June 21, 2008 at 9:40 pm

a movie that made me feel like this was “the wicker man” with nicolas cage..

this one is a completely shit.. if u haven’t watched it already please, dude.. DO NOT waste ur time..!

    love ya ~ mk’nil β™₯

  33. MayJ on June 21, 2008 at 9:26 pm

    Yeah I totally agree.
I even got pissed off at myself sitting in the seat waiting for the ending of that movie, which I thought like “ok,the ending must be good”.

    Train Conductor: We’ve lost contact.
    Elliot Moore: With who?
    Train Conductor: [pause] Everyone.

The last movie i watched was Kungfu Panda, real dope, i had fun πŸ˜€

Angry Stewie Shinoda is cute )))

  38. Shinodabestfriend on June 21, 2008 at 12:20 pm

  40. nikkiann0100 on June 21, 2008 at 11:53 am

Well I havent seen the movie but I probably wont now. That family guy video is funny. Point well taken.

  41. Foreword09 on June 21, 2008 at 11:13 am

haha! that’s great! So wont waste my time going to see it then, thanks!

  42. cuz on June 21, 2008 at 11:08 am

ohhh poor Mikey went to the cinema and the movie was a crap… your revenge was great xD i didn’t see that movie, i go to the cinema very seldom… but now i wanna see the cronicles of narnia, prince kaspian πŸ˜‰ i love such movies and books. i remember the serial i was watching in childhood… in was of ’88… time goes sooo fast…

  43. PinkWater3 on June 21, 2008 at 10:38 am

oh no, I’ve been wanting to watch the sixth sense for like a week and now you mention it in your blog. i definitely NEED to go to some store and buy it like, right now. (i’d like to see you punch m night shyamalan. ahaha funny shit)

  44. Janni_Loves_LP on June 21, 2008 at 10:09 am

I have to admit I also got a bit dissapointed when I watched the movie… I think it was kinda cheesy on some level.. :/ anyways, Mike, I couldn’t have said it better myself… x’D

  45. murry on June 21, 2008 at 10:04 am

Well, I would have guessed as much. You should go see War, Inc. Now, that’s a good movie! It’s got everything– it’s hilarious, it’s slapstick, it’s dramatic, and it’s got Hilary Duff acting like an idiot whore. And she puts a scorpion down her pants. That wasn’t a big deal to me, but it may be to some people. I was more excited about John Cusack killing a guy with a wine bottle opener.

  46. nataku on June 21, 2008 at 9:56 am

such a shame. but i still want to go. i always want to see it by my own eyes and have my own opinion, even if it’s the same as yours πŸ˜›

  47. M4LL0RY on June 21, 2008 at 9:43 am

I knew it would suck. I’ve lost a lot of faith in movies over the years. No more will I waste my money on an hour and a half of nonsense. πŸ™‚ Oh yeah…LOL at shit sandwich. I don’t know why that’s funny. It made me think of that one episode of South Park where they were voting for the mascots and it was between a giant douche and a shit sandwich. XD Who doesn’t like Family Guy? Hah.

  48. shinoda_me on June 21, 2008 at 9:12 am

    holy SHINODA!
the ending was freaking unexpected .. LOL … i kinda jumped back .. haha!

personally, i didn’t think the book was all that bad… i dont know about the movie though

edit: do use Caps Lock every once in a while … its getting harder to figure stuff by the second!

  49. Reanimated89 on June 21, 2008 at 8:47 am

OK, i won’t go and watch it… thank you mike! P.S. I was in Venice yesterday and i got the meet and greet! thank you guys for the AMAZING show!! i also touched Chester when he went down to the crowd during in the end… he was quite sweating

  50. TaylorKenjiLP on June 21, 2008 at 8:39 am

haha, i liked that movie. but only because me and my cousin had the theater to ourselves, so we got to laugh and shout and make fun of it the entire time. =D

  51. oOTenshiOo on June 21, 2008 at 8:16 am

xDDDD thats great.. Ive heard so many bad things about this film I think I wouldnt go and watch it.. but this is the crankest shit ever xD.. Ive seen that and laughed my ass off.. holy shit xDD

  52. A_S on June 21, 2008 at 7:56 am

Hi! Yeah, the family guy!!! Thanks for your good advice!

  53. analoggirl on June 21, 2008 at 7:40 am

lol. I guess constructive criticism only applies to album reviews? πŸ˜‰ (Btw, I still remember your “review review”, when you tore apart that review of The Rising Tied.)

  54. Anstice on June 21, 2008 at 7:36 am

Dude! I know! Dammit! >:[ That movie was a piece of crap! UGH. “The Crappening” lmfao. That gave me a good laugh. But yeah. The movie really was a shit sandwich…in a basket…that was all stale…and moldy…and had bugs crawling on it. M Night Shyamalan’s movies have been turning into junk lately, haven’t they? Like, “The Village.” Dude, who the Hell would have expected that crap? Freaking elders. And the poor blind girl. Stupid Noah >:[. I don’t know. His movies suck ass lately. See ya.

  55. MentalisFun on June 21, 2008 at 7:24 am

It’s got 21% on rotten tomatoes…LAWL. Zooey Deschanel’s performance wasn’t bad, but that’s about the only good thing about this film. Quite sad…Shyamalan had so much potential. He better not fcuk up Avatar. I will assasinate him myself.

  56. yun on June 21, 2008 at 6:43 am

    Stewie rules ! ! !

  57. skindesbous on June 21, 2008 at 5:29 am

I would like to see you doing what Steewie does on the video lol.
I went to the cinema last wenesday to see that film, but finally I chose another one (now I know it wouldn’t have been a good choice)

  58. Blaesbjerg on June 21, 2008 at 3:52 am

Ohh a had a good laugh! I was actually considering to go and see that movie, but maybe i should just spent my money on something else… I REALLY LOVE this little outburst of yours, it’s soo funny to see some feelings in this blog xD..

  61. soyuneik on June 21, 2008 at 2:46 am

I did want to see it, I’ll probably see it. lol. But I also considering the median of all his movies. I’m thinking i’ll take your word on this one.

I mean it was kinda predictable, c’mon Mark Wahlberg main actor..

&& they made it sound like it was something so worth watching.. BS!

    …hahaha..that was funny xDDD

  65. YourConscience on June 21, 2008 at 2:09 am

  66. ms_shock on June 21, 2008 at 2:04 am

hahaha I like this guy xD

  67. Kira on June 21, 2008 at 2:00 am

I love The Sixth Sense. I was disappointed with Signs. However, it was The Village that pissed me off. I haven’t trusted him since and I cannot bring myself to watch anything he writes. As a director, he’s not that bad, but he shouldn’t be allowed to write any more screenplays. They are shit.

  68. AshleyDawn on June 21, 2008 at 1:48 am

Tough critic!! I didn’t even waste my $7 to see it.

  69. Fresh on June 21, 2008 at 1:44 am

The trailer showed absolutely NOTHING of the movie and I thought, “yeah, maybe it’s coz they want us to see the movie to find out what is really ‘HAPPENING'” so when i watched the movie, in the end, i realized that the trailer was pretty accurate: NOTHING WAS HAPPENING!!!!

  70. So_S on June 21, 2008 at 1:38 am

i’m glad i didn’t go watch it. it’d be a good waste of 8 euros..i’ve seen crappy reviews about it.

    pity , i kinda liked shyamalan as a director…

  71. Afilamazas on June 21, 2008 at 1:27 am

Even the title’s the worst ever… “happening” is not a word for the death of thousands of people… is it?

    This is priceless:

    RUN!!! RUN!!! IT’S COMMING!!!

    (Who???…Who’s comming???)

The wind!!! Look at the leafs moving! Oh my god!!!

  72. MrJQ23 on June 21, 2008 at 12:52 am

great interpretation of the movie. i remember this family guy episode. great comparison. i might just end up seeing it at my local cheap theatre in about a couple months to see why it is so bad. recommendation: see ironman (stay after the credits end), then the new hulk.

  73. Ezza on June 21, 2008 at 12:43 am

hahahaha i love stewie :)….the only ppl that can do the horror genre justice is the Japanese…its seriously creapy (even if it is subtitled)….Hollywood steals/ buys their stuff and kills it… :S grrr

  74. soyuneik on June 21, 2008 at 12:17 am

I love Family Guy, it brings a magical twinkle tear to my eye. So Proud. “Mayor bee… “

  75. fragbaitelite on June 21, 2008 at 12:15 am

Yeah I’m so glad you referenced that episode of family guy. I think about it all the time when something just sucks like that. And thanks for the simple and straight forward review of the movie. I’ll take your opinion over any famous reviewer.

  76. Sarah_xx_LP on June 20, 2008 at 11:51 pm

Hahaha that was hilarious, I LOVE STEWIE/FAMILY GUY. i think i saw it before. (the family guy thing not the happening). my mom wanted to watch it but then at the last minute she decided not to cuz everyone was saying it sucked.

  77. lp_fm_fan on June 20, 2008 at 11:43 pm

OMG, Mike I COMPLETELY AGREE. I saw the movie because my mum wanted to see it and omg, HORRIBLE. I was like wtf is this really a movie?! WORST. MOVIE. EVER.

Seriously I’m not usually a person that gives bad ratings but gee, that movie was horrible.

Btw, the video was great way to express how I felt too!

  78. NoFace on June 20, 2008 at 11:27 pm

Shyamalan fucked it up? Duh, I like that guy >.>
You can’t be Stewie, you have too much hair, but that scene is classic. I don’t know that you can throw a punch at all <.<

  79. CherryRed on June 20, 2008 at 11:16 pm

  81. zimminator on June 20, 2008 at 10:58 pm

HAHAHAHAH classic family guy. so it was that bad huh? i almost went and saw that tonight. but instead i watched kung fu panda. glad i made that decision. it was pretty good, and funny. but the happening, i was expecting that to be good, cuz the sixth sense was okay. guess not. thanx mike, yoou just saved me 9 whole bucks!

  82. msgirl on June 20, 2008 at 10:40 pm

  83. Squishy_Ho on June 20, 2008 at 10:24 pm

that’s the most hilarious thing i’ve seen in fucking ages. damn the fact it’s too late to laugh loud, or else i would’ve.
and i’m sure you bashing into shyamalan would make a pretty awkward scene. writing it out instead will probably be more interesting. parental advisory will be written out in big thick letters, obviously.
