i’m gonna keep saying hella-fuckin-balls-to-the-wall-awesome to all my friends now!
Curiosa on August 24, 2008 at 3:12 pm
soyuneik: so u approve of the way things n the music biz r run? So u think people should b followers nstead of leaders? Instead of going out there & making a difference. 4 yrs environmentalists had tried 2 nform people of environmental issues but it never became popular until celebs got involved. Then al of a sudden it became the “it” thing 2do. I’ve heard of labels who do treat artists right & obviously MSR isn’t 1 of them. Having friends involved n the music industry I’m already aware of the “evils” behind the scenes. IMO best way 2 change the industry is by being a leader & not a follower so why not start now? Others already have but having a big name will help prompt the change.

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?? 😀 Lol

I knew I smelled a serious topic. I’d like to take this moment to send out a big “Fuck the Riaa”, if you wanna know why..here’s a website to fill you in http://www.boycott-riaa.com/why…As for everything else, I recommend reading a book called “Confessions of a Record Producer”…if you don’t feel like it. Basically, the music industry is run by a bunch of old, money hungry, corporate sleezballs. They don’t give a fuck. If you make a track and it blows up, guess who sees the LEAST amount of money? Yea, you. But like anything in this wonderful capitalistic society we live in, you have you play the game to beat it.
NeneLP88 on August 22, 2008 at 3:22 pm
I wish english was my mother language so that i could use the ‘hella fuckin’ balls-to-the-wall awesome’ almost once a day! @_@

Hey Zimminator, one has to actually be able to release an album first so that they can try to get their name out there. It’s been over a yr since SOB has been trying to release their new/now old album. The majority of radio stations do but there have been some that actually play music that other radio stations wouldn’t like Marie Digby. Miley Cyrus actually became famous because of her Disney character Hannah Montana & thanks to that popularity she was able to release an album.
zimminator on August 22, 2008 at 12:23 pm
and i wanna say something bout what curiosa said. i mean i totally understand where they are coming from, but can you truly tell me that there has been a good new artist recently? i mean, lp is from the 90s, and you still hear a lot of 90s bands, they are successful. but can you tell me any artists that are that good from 2000 and on? there are so many bands out there now, and ya, it makes it harder to recognize. and the radios tell us what to listen to. that doesnt help. but whats worse, is that there are more bands that dont even work for it, dont even write their own lyrics….i mean come on, look at the jonas bros and miley cyrus……ppl like them help currupt the industry.
zimminator on August 22, 2008 at 12:15 pm
hahaha i like reading the thing on the bottom….lol my favorite thing it said was that in montana they found a 200 million year old museum hahahah! that was funny to watch. i love the onion.
Curiosa on August 22, 2008 at 7:50 am
Thanks Mike for taking the time 2 listen. Take care.
cont: How can these guys make a name 4 themselves the way LP did when they can’t even release an album? Remembr what it was like when u guys were trying 2 break in2 the industry? These artists put their trust in u guys that u would help them but instead ended up w/the same (maybe even more) obstacle as if they would have tried 2 break n by themselves. Just signing them isn’t enough. LP got very lucky & I’m sure ur well aware of that. U guys have manged 2 make music ur career so why not give the rest of artists signed to MSR the same chance? Mike if u want to avoid history repeating itself, may I suggest really looking in2 SOB’s situation.
Curiosa on August 22, 2008 at 7:46 am
cont: I’ve also heard that LP hit it big very fast so maybe some of MSR’s problems might have something to do w/u guys not fully understanding what all it really takes to get a new artist out there. I read Ryu’s blog on SOB’s myspace that just so happened to have disappeared (sounds very familiar) & he sounded frustrated. Looking at history, all I can say is that if something doesn’t happen fast w/SOB’s album (it’s been over a yr now since it was supposed to have been released) MSR may end up losing another great artist/group.
cont: But now my question is are you really doing all that you can to help get the album released? You shouldn’t have mentioned the spare time you have before shows because now I have doubts about you. Since you guys are known for being a hands-on type of guys, I don’t seem to understand how you guys even have time to correctly run MSR when you’re constantly on tour, have all these side projects going on (especially u Mike like your art show & shoes), & then there’s ya’lls personal life. How can you possibly have time to fully devote yourselves to running MSR?
cont…Even the internet has produced new hit artists. Makes 1 wondr why any1 should even bother being w/a label that doesn’t really offer some support? U were easily able 2 release TRT so why does it take other artists signed to MSR over a yr just 2 try to release their CD. Since SOB has yet 2 release an album 1 could easily speculate that the only reason SOB is even there is so that whenever u feel like doing something hip-hop u can just hop on over there, get them started & then leave. But I’ve heard that u have been trying 2 get their album released so I cannot really speculate that.
Now 2 more serious stuff. I asked Ryu what was going on w/their album & all he said was they didn’t know. This sounds a lot like what Holly had 2 go through & that’s not cool. Some1 told me that u were aware of what new artists had 2 go through just 2 break out & u guys wanted to change the industry. I don’t know if it’s true or not but if it is, it seems as though u guys aren’t doing much in trying 2 change it. Even worse u guys seem 2 be taking a step back w/MSR making it twice as difficult 2 release an album. It’s no wonder previous artists signed 2 MSR left. Now days new artists have bettr luck breakng in2 the industry by going indie than by signing 2 a big record co. deal.

First off, congrats on ur nomination & 2nd that Bret & Axle thing was completely hilarious! I would have loved to have seen that. lol If you guys drive back to CA on I10 after your Houston show & you get hungry, might I suggest stopping at Chili’s in Boerne (NW outside of SA). Out of all the Chili’s restaurants I’ve eaten at (including out-of-state), their food’s the best. 😉 If u do stop there, please let me know what u think. Thanks. BTW no I don’t work there I just really like their food. lol

I totally agree with the court’s ruling. That’s exactly what the Constitution says in Article 3.

So, Mike, I was wondering. Did you keep and read the little blue notebook? (:
ShadowerLiltani on August 21, 2008 at 6:29 pm
Everytime I order your diamonds spades art book they cancel it. They need to stop that. Anyways, Are you for or against the death penalty? I’m against it. No human on this planet has the right to take a life, both murderers and the people behind the needles. Why say murder is wrong, then turn around and kill someone? Why not set a better example? I think it’s better to make someone live with their guilt for life than to kill them, it’s basically an easy way out. BTW, have you heard about He Kexin, the underage gymnast? I’ve heard they may take away her medal, but it’s not her fault. If they take it away, it would probably break that kid’s heart. What do you think?

Received a pair of ‘Pride’ in the mailbox today, and man, they are probably the perfect shoe! Comfortable as soon as you slip them on, and the artwork is absolutely great! You’ve really done an excellent job with them, and I can’t wait to show them off as much as possible. Thanks so much, Mike! 😀

(blink…blinkblink) Wow. It was fun to watch and all, but I seriously hope this doesn’t influence people to start using those phrases all the time. I’d have to completely disregard you and your blog if that happened… (looks away nonchalantly) Anyhow, I saw you guys a couple of times this past month, and each show was amazing. I loved when Street Drum Corps joined you onstage; that fuckin’ ruled. I can hardly wait until you guys release the new album. Take care hun.

Ah, that was hilarious. Loved the court illustration of Judge Scalia’s impersonation of Judge Dred’s “I am the law” – complete with a Stalone-like facial expression. haha Also, did I detect a socio-political message? Movies, (or popular culture in general), has too much influence on our daily lives. And who are the real heroes? Anyway, cool video. 🙂
soyuneik on August 20, 2008 at 3:08 pm
I wish it was all like this. …prison colony where everyone has to fight…reminded me of Deadman Wonderland, good shit.
