i think that the two characters are fighting over something but i dont know what… i’ll just have to stare at it a little longer and see if i find something out… one thing though… the shade of colour is very stunning !!!

ididnt notice this at first but when i took a closer look , i saw that the rooster is breathing some kind of blue flames(?)… i think that that symbolises that the rooster is brave and is not terrified of tha sabre tooth guy even though most people would be…. thats what i think anyway

  2. psykobouliz on October 5, 2008 at 8:17 am

i love this, dude! this guy is very talented too! i’m impressed!

  3. Curiosa on September 30, 2008 at 11:26 am

: Out of all your characters that I’ve seen, I’d have to say my fave is your saber-toothed monster. I love this collab painting! Talk about contrast, the detailing of the monster makes it look so cold & dead meanwhile the detailing on the rooster makes it look so warm & alive. One thing’s definite, they’re both fighters. Oh, his art’s pretty good.

  4. sasummsumm on September 29, 2008 at 10:38 am

  9. zahra on September 28, 2008 at 8:33 am

NICE ! i realy like it!

  10. Joanie_LP on September 28, 2008 at 2:20 am

you gotta have LOTS of imagination to do this! it’s great, that’s what I can I say!!! BRAVO!

  11. Mikefanatic on September 27, 2008 at 11:59 pm

I like the paintings, too. Why did Jeff McMillan has painted the rooster?. Coincidence? Or because Joes Lastname means rooster in german?

  12. ButterflyVampire on September 27, 2008 at 10:52 pm

That’s so freakin cool! It’s like the dead dinosaur guy scared the crap out of that poor chicken roaster! He was like minding his own business hanging out in that wooden box round thing talking on the phone with some chickens, and then that mean dead dinosaur bone thing came out of nowhere and scared the crap out of him and he jumped and it broke all over the place! Now the poor farmer has to clean up that mess! I’m so stupid. It’s not a dinosaur it’s a sabertooth dead cat! Those poor dead cats 😦 Meow! I like yours and jeff artwork! It’s really cool. 🙂

  13. MarishkaLP on September 27, 2008 at 10:32 pm

wOw this picture looks… strange, as all your pictures do! i just can’t get it! how do you create it! how does this image come in your mind?? that’s incredible!!! when i look at your paintings i always get surprised, because if i were painting something i wouldn’t even emagine this in my mind, though i have a good imagination! these ideas are strange but imposing! where do you get them from?? how does it come to you?? that’s a big question for me. btw your 2nd exhibition is SO different from the 1st! not only the theme is different but you’ve changed the style fundamentaly! that was a great surprise! i think both of your styles are unique! thanks!

  14. SouthernGirlAM on September 27, 2008 at 5:04 pm

I love the collab. Absolutely incredible. And now on an unrelated note: I have a question and request and I know you are busy, but I know you answer comments on occasion, perhaps I’ll get lucky! : )

I was wanting to inquire about MFR footage of the band and others doing work in New Orleans immediately following Katrina. It was said that the footage would be in LPTV, but it never was. I know many people that really would like to see this footage, including myself. Is this a possibility or something you could at least blog about if time. I know many people would appreciate it! Thanks for all you and LP do!

  15. LinkinPark12219 on September 27, 2008 at 4:31 pm

MIKE!!!!!!!! I just have one question, what is going on with the last 4 shows of Projekt Revolution?! I’ve been checking everyday since the 24th of August for the Woodlands showing. It just says it will be up sometime around the 20th of September but obviously that’s out of date haha. So what’s taking so long for the last 4 shows to be up online? Any idea when they’ll be available? Thanks Mike!

  16. NeneLP88 on September 27, 2008 at 2:16 pm

    Wow, great job man!

Although the monster/skeleton reminds me my Comparative Anatomy exam. I totally fucked up =[

Have a nice Saturday evening and Sunday =)

  17. alyeska39 on September 27, 2008 at 1:34 pm

Off topic, but I figure you have a better chance of seeing this here: There’s a youtube channel that I’d like you to clear up. LinkinParkTV2008 ( is claiming to be you, Chester & Joe. They almost had me fooled because they put a good effort into making it look real (i.e. subscribing to the right people, putting “official”, being listed as musician with a warner label, etc.). But recently they put up a video that said “never seen before. hopefully this will make you believe that we’re really us.” Problem with that was, I’d already seen the video, it was from a while back. As soon as I said that, they deleted it and re-uploaded it minus the claim.

  18. Shinodabestfriend on September 27, 2008 at 11:42 am

Mike I have to say something…. HOW THE F*** CAN U DO THIS??!??!?!??!!?!??! O.o it’s incredible!!
    I am really…… really…. wordless…. Mike it’s impossible……… you’re relly a fantastic artist… I…. I…. omg….
I set a painting of yours as wallpaper……. it’s really awesome…. I can paint very well too… wanna collab with me too? ^^

  19. tacos_on_tuesday on September 27, 2008 at 9:40 am

I’m artistically developmentally disabled so I hope this isn’t an insult cause trust me I wouldn’t even know how to start throwing insults at something I don’t really get, but I swear “Passage of Mystic rights” with the blue monster reminds me of the Abominable Snowman in those old school Christmas claymation cartoons. It’s like he was captured by some voodoo person who practices santeria. I cant stop looking at it and my mind is more troubled & bothered by the image. It’s not disturbing enough for me not to look at it. But ….OMG>>>>he has the monster feature on everything!!!

  20. kihomi on September 27, 2008 at 8:44 am

hey! mk why do u like skeletons??? …i can be wrong…but it seems a lot of ur paintings have one….but i love it ….and….how works paintint with another artist?? it’s like doing a song???

  21. Madlen on September 27, 2008 at 8:03 am

I love the moster:DThe whole piece is great …I wanted to ask you how do you choose who you wanna collaborate with?Do you choose artist that you’re already familiar with?

  22. Sonia_LPrnway_ on September 27, 2008 at 7:38 am

wow, the artwork is amazing! i wish i could go to SURU and see all the artwork in person but, alas i live a “million” miles away, in Greece.

  23. Gabry94LinkinParkfan23 on September 27, 2008 at 7:23 am

aww mike those are amazing!!! i just luv em!!!! congrats 🙂 luv u mike , kiss 🙂

  24. shan1105 on September 27, 2008 at 6:13 am

How does chester’s website misspell linkin park? look at last post. thought it was humourous……… The “Remix2Win” contest, held by Verizon Wireless and Grammy award winning band Lincoln Park, challenged fans to remix the band’s hits and share them with their friends on Facebook. The 20 universities with the most remixes became finalists and Linkin Park picked the best mix based on quality

  25. Shinizzle3 on September 27, 2008 at 4:44 am

yea i got the same question as AndyJ…why do you like skulls so much…?? i mean i like your artwork, it looks great..but i actually don’t like skulls…they always remind me of..death. i don’t know why somebody would like death… 😕
i know it’s part of this vanitas art [isn’t it?, i don’t know so much bout art, but i think it is^^]…mhm.. i prefer living..things…

  26. rockermeg on September 27, 2008 at 2:42 am

Wow that art is amazing, its great Joe’s moving on with SURU

He(and Chester with Club Tattoo/Ve’Cel)should start international chains!! Everybody with me???

  27. Kalini on September 27, 2008 at 2:09 am

I didn’t want to post any negative comment here. I just say something nice or nothing. But considering the fact, that you are not that kind of person, who expects to receive only compliments, I decided to write a kind of advice. It’s really inconvenient to say it, but I’m not impressed by the painting at all. I feel like something is missing there, or it’s not completed, yet. Perhaps, you could involve a third artist to complete the painting. It looks like two paintings without any connection and also the background is not so impressive. Please, take it as an advice, I don’t mean to critisize you. I know that you always want to make the things perfect! Krassie K.

  28. AndyJ on September 27, 2008 at 1:30 am

Amazing artwork mike, BTW, i would want to ask you something, why do you like skulls so much? You are fascinated by skulls. I can see them in almost every artwork of yours (even fort minor artwork). Plz explain……………NjoyAnanditAndy.

  29. MissNatalie1984 on September 27, 2008 at 12:52 am

hmm the painting is interesting. it makes me wonder on what basis’ you decide whom you want to collaborate with. like, is there anything in particular that you look for in artists or is it just based soley on if you like their work?
nonetheless, keep up the fine art 🙂

  30. Lvix on September 27, 2008 at 12:37 am

Mike, Suru gonna sell this stuff at the store online?

  31. axrinekey on September 26, 2008 at 11:38 pm

    Sabertooth monster? xD
I would rather called it skeleton! 😀

    Ah… it’s an amazing one.
    I like the painting! xD

Okay… do you really like skeletons that much? xD
‘Coz I realise most of your arts are… skeletons…

    Don’t worry, I still like them a lot. 😛

  32. KATHYxx on September 26, 2008 at 9:14 pm

I like this one… it’s a style I don’t think i’ve seen from you, yet the subject is uhh….. very shinody, for lack of a better word lol.

  33. danielpsoad09 on September 26, 2008 at 9:01 pm

Mike, I love your art , but I have to tell you that i’m really dissapointed about LP .. once again.
I’m a big, big LP fan from Chile, and like thousands and thousands of fans here in South America, we were really excited about the possibility of seeing you play here on this MTM tour, because you (chester and rob) said that we were on the top of the list of places to play for the mtm tour. Well , two years of touring which are finishing in October, and you played in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania … and what about South America?? =(
Now, I guess we’ll have to wait until you release a new album to get the chance to see you playing live and make our dream come true ..

  34. TEQUILA on September 26, 2008 at 7:43 pm

wow,i really love the pictures)if only i could come and see it in person! most interesting in the world happens in LA :-/
    to DIANLUCAS nice work xD

  35. ShadowerLiltani on September 26, 2008 at 7:33 pm

Critique time!! Okay, the sabertooth monster’s left leg is bothering me. It’s knee joint is bent in an unusual way, and I can’t tell if it is bending forwards or sideways. Maybe there is more contrast of shadows in the real life painting… If it’s bending sideways, perhaps some for-shortening in the joint area would have helped, and more contrast between darks and highlights. What is definitely successful, is the texture you gave this creature with the subtle shades and tones. It has that sense that I could reach out and touch it. I’d comment on the rooster but I doubt my message will likely get to the other artist, and I’m not putting this in my blog and linking to it.

  36. NoMoreSorrowGirl on September 26, 2008 at 6:09 pm

hey!mike, very nice collaboration…and i’m so happy that you prefer sabertooth instead of goat/sheep.hahaha!!!hope that you haven’t forgot the hair of sabertooth mike…joke!BTW,hope that your GE (Dies) would have a video on how you do your pieces.from buying your stuffs for your arts, combining those paints to look great, choosing your most comfortable place to paint those arts…till in the ennnnddddd…is that ok with you?i hope that i’m not the only one who wants a video of the making of GLORIOUS EXCESS (DIES)…god bless you and LP:))

  37. Anika on September 26, 2008 at 3:59 pm

  46. Hybr1d_7h3ory on September 26, 2008 at 11:30 am

Amazing!!! Your art is so varied and so wonderful. I was wondering if you had a tentative date for Glorious Excess (Dies) yet? I was wanting to make a trip out to LA from Kansas to come see it.

Also, I am sure you have thought about it, but was there any discussion of putting your Glorious Excess stuff on shirts or any other clothing? I know this kind of “degrades” your paintings, for the lack of a better term, but I am sure it would be a welcomed addition to your already wonderful store.

Again, its good to see you on here keeping us informed. Not many Rock Stars do soooo much for thier fans like You and LP do.

    Thanks a million,

  47. merve on September 26, 2008 at 11:25 am

i think Liope is right.sabertooth monster doesnt look like detailed as much as jeff’s there is no wholeness.this piece is more like two different paintings.(btw, sorry for my english)anyway, take care urself,bb

  48. SimplyMode on September 26, 2008 at 11:22 am

Damn, If only I lived in LA instead of the fucking UK Grrr. Story of my life aye..
But the art looks really dope & I would’ve loved to be there!!

Speaking of SURU, I was watching Lupe Fiasco’s I gotcha vid yesterday & I only just noticed the suru spray paint toy thing..
See I don’t even know what to call it, but you know what i’m talking about. I thought that was really cool, I also saw an interview kenna did talking about how much he loved the shop. I really wanna go there and check it out but until then have fun on saturday ( if you’re going)

  49. ritzifying on September 26, 2008 at 11:21 am

    i love evil yard gnomes

maybe travelocity should look into something like that. :p

  50. I_B_Long on September 26, 2008 at 11:20 am

that looks amazing! i really really love your style (and taste). if i lived anywhere near LA i would definitely come and check it out. dont forget to support your troops 🙂

  51. cuz on September 26, 2008 at 11:05 am

cool one! i love your shadows. how is work on Glorious Excess (Dies) going? i like the fact that SURU is also doing art shows. take care 🙂

  52. Anstice on September 26, 2008 at 11:05 am

Not that I don’t like the first picture, but the second one looks a lot more thought out. Not to mention the fact that it’s VERY pretty. Does he have a certain theme when he paints? Kind of how you, yourself, use a lot of skulls and whatnot. Man, I can’t quite staring at that painting. It’s got so much detail and it’s so NEAT. Awesome.

  53. miKer0cks on September 26, 2008 at 11:01 am

wow these are really cool!!!! i like the first one more…it’s it’s….unique!!! never seen something like it!!!! awesome welldone mike!!!!<3

  54. liope on September 26, 2008 at 10:57 am

is this the final piece?it looks really cool BUT you could have make it better!! the rooster has more details than the monster and if someone looks more carefully he/she will understand or that the painting was made by 2 different people or that the painter get bored!!! anyway my point is that you can still work on it….

  55. Linkin_Betty on September 26, 2008 at 10:29 am

WoW! that’s so great! i luv ur pics! you really have a talent!
i don’t know anything about Jeff but i will search something, i like his art. however i think you’re the best [:
    take care xxx

  56. lp_fm_fan on September 26, 2008 at 10:26 am
