PLAYING FOR CHANGE

November 4, 2008

Thanks to Joe Hahn for the link to this one. Very cool. You can find out more about the “Playing For Change” project here:

PS: GET OUT AND VOTE TODAY

EDIT:
With all due respect, bickering in the comments section is not welcome here. The video above is about crossing boundaries and bringing people together. I find it sadly ironic that this was the post that people chose to start a fight under. 1.) Pay attention to the comments rules, and 2.) take the negativity elsewhere. If that cannot happen, I am going to remove commenting altogether, on all posts. Lastly, don’t post an apology comment. You’re already over your one post limit.

Thanks,

The Management

mike

I love this! This is an awesome video! I respect anyone participating in this…

And as far as all the politics go… I’m with Epilepticchickenscratch. We are the change we want to see in the world.

  2. ShadowerLiltani on November 22, 2008 at 10:26 am

I cannot believe, well, actually, I can believe that you people would start a fight on the internet in the comments section of Mike’s blog. You pretty much screwed yourselves at ever getting a chance of having your questions answered. As far as change is concerned, no matter what anyone wants to say, things DID change with Obama’s election into office. It changed how many people vote, why people vote, it changed the current ruling party, and it changed our history. I am by no means picking a fight, I am only stating facts. Nice video by the way.

  3. Anene on November 14, 2008 at 4:00 pm

Hey Mike! I love the video. If people could just apply it to the rest of their lives, the world will be better off.
To “BLAKEA”: Are you kidding me! Change already happened with Obama’s election. The kind i’m talking about is the change on how people view the world and themselves. Now people are able to believe that their dreams are not that far-fetched. America has been renewed in so many people’s eyes still as the land of opportunity. I personally now believe America isn’t as bad or racist as i thought it was. The kind of change you’re looking for is Obama to wave his magic wand and fix the economy because the problem happened overnight? Give me a break.

  7. BlakeA on November 5, 2008 at 1:12 pm

Im sorry mike, but the word ” change ” is starting to make me sick to my stomach. I hope every obama supporter is happy when after obama is in office that nothing will really ” change “.And if anything would change, it would defidently not be a positive one :]

Re: you kids. You kids need to grow a backbone and let it feed your brain via its blood vessels, seriously. And multiposters need to be temp-banned. Shit. You mattered. Just as much as the aforementioned word. Accumulated, excreted. Done. And yes, I said kids.

Re: the vid – hey! I see my countryfolks’ type – forever breaking the motorcycle rules by having more than 2 persons per bike and wearing helmet! Yay.

  16. Anstice on November 4, 2008 at 3:17 pm

Sorry means you won’t do it again, stupid. Go somewhere else.

  17. EpilepticChickenScratch on November 4, 2008 at 2:21 pm

    @Curiosa – You’re childish, haha.

I hope everyone went out and voted today! There’s no room for change if we don’t make it!

  18. Curiosa on November 4, 2008 at 2:00 pm

    Sorry Mike again.

@EpilepticChickenScratch: I just checked my spelling & w/the exception of the few words that I deliberately misspelled because of the character rule my spelling was fine. & I did go back, there were quite a few blogs that I didn’t comment & when I did IF I commented more than once then I commented twice w/apologies, sometimes commenting to other people & not him.

Figure of speech. rolls eyes. Oh & he answered twice but who’s counting. 😉 Pointless indeed started off by you. My friends & I would like 2 thank u & ur ridiculous accusations for having us rofl so thank you. 🙂

  19. Lee on November 4, 2008 at 1:40 pm

Gah, that was great. Tell Joe that was an awesome find.🙂 I love that whole concept, music bringing us all together. It’s the universal language. No matter where on the earth you live, whether you’re in the US or Russia or Uganda, music is always there. And no matter what you’re thinking, you can express it through music – it is the ultimate means to an end. It’s beautiful.

  20. EpilepticChickenScratch on November 4, 2008 at 12:50 pm

@Curiosa – Okay, first of all, learn how to spell, and I’ll be hurt a little bit more by what you say. Second, you, my friend, are a fucking LIAR. Go back to posts weeks before this one and look at how many times you’ve posted.

I also think it’s hilarious you think Mike “knows you and your opinions” just because he answered a question you had. Don’t flatter yourself. To him, you’re just another fan.

If you want to continue this pointless conversation, go over to the Mike’s Blog Discussion thread on the LPMB.

  21. Lvix on November 4, 2008 at 12:28 pm

    Wow, good work….

Mike, when LP underground 8 will come out?

  22. Curiosa on November 4, 2008 at 12:26 pm

Sorry Mike for another post but some1 is delirious. rolls eyes

@EpilepticChickenScratch: what are u on?? lmao With the exception of this 1 I have not been posting 6 or 7 times. I haven’t even been on here 4 over a week. u’r definitely confusing me for someone else & stop trying to look tough in front of your friends cause you only look foolish. If it’s something long then I post it somewhere else & paste the link here. Right…so I shouldn’t let him know that he’s slowly losing fans over there bcause of what he said? If u look at things w/out rose colored glases it was a crapy excuse. The truth hurts sometimes & I’m a very blunt person.

  23. Kalini on November 4, 2008 at 12:12 pm

I’d like first to thank Joe for sharing this video with us! “Stand by me” is one of my favorite songs. Playing for change. The video is amazing! It reminds of “Make music, not war!” Music became the new religion, which unites the people all over the world. In this video the world became so small…. Could people change the world through music? Mike, thanks for posting it! Krassie K.

  24. skindesbous on November 4, 2008 at 12:12 pm

Did you realize there’s only 5 o 6 women on the video, and the rest of the people are men? It’s so sad… But the song is really beautifull, though

  25. EpilepticChickenScratch on November 4, 2008 at 11:57 am

@Curiosa – Yeah, I attacked you because you ALWAYS break the fucking rules. ALWAYS. Do you know how many times I’ve come across you posting 6 or 7 times? I could understand if it was once in a while when you had something to say and it HAD to be long-winded to get the point across, but you’re fucking ridiculous.

As for “sticking up for the other members.” I quote you. “U obviously haven’t noticed how upset u made them w/ur lame excuse 4 not posting on there. Just because lp fans might buy it doesn’t mean fm fans do. The truth is more respectable than crap.” You don’t have to be so fucking rude to him to get a point across. You can merely say, “Hey Mike! Come post!” Again, respect.

  26. ArielCahen on November 4, 2008 at 11:49 am

Fuckin’ amazing! It’s unbelievable what people can do when there are no borders, preconception. Just good will…
How great would that be if the world was a mirror image of this song/video? Food for thought. heheh…

  27. cuz on November 4, 2008 at 11:39 am

That’s good! I like the idea. The movie was even on a festival in my country, didn’t know about that before…

  28. Curiosa on November 4, 2008 at 11:25 am

Mike I do respect u & sorry 4 postng more than once but u know me & my opinions.

@EpilepticChickenScratch: then u must not get out much & it’s obvious that u don’t know me so ur opinion of me maters 2 me because…?? Wow 1st I’m accused of flirting & now I’m accused of being disrespectful? lmao U people make me laugh & u obviously didn’t notice that I said I didn’t care if he posted but there r fans over there that do care. Fans who have stopped posting here so how can u be sure that I’m not just looking out 4 him? Know the facts b4 you decide 2 respond. I find it interesting that bcause it’s me posting u decide 2 respond but when some1 else does u guys don’t bother.

  29. rockermeg on November 4, 2008 at 11:05 am

O.o That’s really cool!!!🙂 I like that version of ”Stand By Me”😀 Well if I could vote I would….I have to agree with yun_rocks….Everyone should vote for the US president but we cant :

Cya Mike❤ Take Care my sweet little Spike Minnoda <3]

PS…Come on guys!!! Mike cant be all the time in LPMB and LPUMB!!! Show some respect!!!! He’s not a superman…He has other things to do too!!! Come on, think about him too, he must be really busy this time cause of the new album and the upcoming Glorious Excess!!!

  37. EpilepticChickenScratch on November 4, 2008 at 9:42 am

Mike, seriously? Wow, that was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever seen. I cried.

@Curiosa – You have got to be the BIGGEST prick I’ve ever seen in my life. Lay the fuck off. You’re right in saying he has a busy life. He doesn’t post on the LPMB/LPUMB anymore. You guys aren’t the only people missing him, but we don’t drive the point home on his blog (BREAKING THE RULES, no less) by putting him through a fucking guilt trip. Jesus, YOU need to learn something fucking respect. YourConscience says: http://www.mikeshinoda.com/blog/Random-LinkinPark-ResponsesToFans-ArtILike/newcommentsruleyoskay_commission Learn to respect his rules, and maybe he’ll respect your opinion.

  38. YuN_RoCks on November 4, 2008 at 9:39 am

woh that’s a really cool initiative! & this version of ‘stand by me’ sounds really nice. if I could vote, I would: I feel like all the world should vote for the US president, but seen that things don’t work this way, I’ll just wait for the news to see what’s happening over there in America. take care shinizzle!

  39. Curiosa on November 4, 2008 at 9:30 am

U obviously haven’t noticed how upset u made them w/ur lame excuse 4 not posting on there. Just because lp fans might buy it doesn’t mean fm fans do. The truth is more respectable than crap. I feel bad when I get questions like this about u, “How can he just 4get about us?” I stoped caring a long time ago but u have real fans on fmmb who still care & whos hearts were broken because of ur xcuse 4 not posting there. We understand its easier 4 u 2 post just on here but they’d like 2 know they’re not 4gtn. Couldn’t u take just a min 2 post on fmmb 4 ur fans on there? They’re already disillusioned by u so ur post would come as a big surprise 4 them. Please? Thanks.

  40. Curiosa on November 4, 2008 at 9:30 am

Mike we respct the fact that ur a busy guy & have no problems stoping by ur site 2 get all the info but what fm fans r asking 4 is that u please stop by & say hi. Fmmb is also YOUR site & every1 else (Holly, SOB, Eric) is making u look bad because thru-out the yr they’ve stopped by & said hi while u’ve ignored ur fans who r still there. It doesn’t help ur case that Eric Bobo has also randomly posted thru-out the yr & he’s been busy working on his solo album (out Nov 18) plus Cypress Hill’s album. They’re just asking that u take not even a min (imo from watching youtube) 2 post a simple “Hi” on fmmb 2 show them u havn’t 4gtn them.

  41. Chemist999 on November 4, 2008 at 9:28 am

It’s funny how ambiguous the title is. “For change.” Even some change can change a lot.🙂
And for that voting of yours, I always find funny how intricate your system of electors is. It is surely appropriate to allocate corresponding number of electors to each state, and let them decide, but if a candidate wins nationwide plurality and his opponent, who received half million votes less, is still elected to the White House… fascinating.😉
