“The Slip” by Nine Inch Nails was great but also “Ghosts I-IV”.
“Death Magnetic” is actually pretty good

  3. StrangeGirl1 on January 6, 2009 at 4:15 pm

Great pick with MGMT! I just got into them about a month ago and they are as you said, “sensational.” I haven’t heard of some of the other music you posted so will have to check em’ out. Hmmm, Kings of Leon, they don’t impress me much but to each their own.🙂

  4. lynndarwinharris on January 4, 2009 at 7:23 pm

I think I will pick up Santogold’s CD. I like her voice. I wish you a happy late new year!

  5. Daniela on January 3, 2009 at 7:26 pm

Hi, I wish you a happy new year!
Anyways, about the albums, I enjoyed some of them (Metallica, Nine Inch Nails, Kings of Leon,) but although Im not so sure about Lil wayne. . . but definitly I would put there “all hope is gone” by Slipknot and “chinese democracy” by Guns and Roses.
And just one request, if LP would considerate have an concert in Porto, instead of Lisbon, in Portugal, cuz Im from there and I couldnt show up in concerts. And Im sure the number of fans are practiclly the same, so thanks!

  6. Tubabu on January 3, 2009 at 1:01 pm

Very Happy New Year Mike ! I wish you the best for 2009 [ and of course for your family, friends…]
Yeah you like and know MGMT !!! It’s cool ! I discover this band when “Time To Pretend” was on the radio during the summer 2008 in France. And i like their music !
My favourites songs in this record are : Kids, Electric Feels and Weekend Wars (me too).
I know that you like Dido. Do you like her third record “Safe Trip Home” ? ( I hope U ask me !)
I hope see you in France in 2009 for a new show. You and the others guys were amzing in january 2008 at Paris Bercy.
    Have a good day.
    Agathe – a french fan –

Know you a beautiful song called “Prelude 12/21” from Afi ?
    Listen this song, love that…

  8. Elliot_aka_MC_Eli on January 2, 2009 at 11:10 pm

    Really metallica? 9. Jane1 on January 2, 2009 at 2:35 pm

Hi Mike I know that I speak now completely from the case but yesterday for the first time in my life I listen the song Hands Held High, and is beautiful is true lyrics ….. thank you

  10. Kalini on January 2, 2009 at 12:16 pm

Happy New year, Mike! Good Top 5! I like most of those artists. I didn’t know only MGMT, but I liked the video. I can select 5 good albums of 2008, too: Coldplay “Viva La vida”, The Rasmus “Black Roses”, Madonna “Hard Candy”, Britney Spears “Circus” and Duffy “Rockferry”. I think that the sensational album of the year is Duffy’s debut album “Rockferry”. She’s been compared to Amy Winehouse, but Duffy is better. The songs, which I can recommend are “Mercy”, “Rain On Your Parade”, “Breaking My Own Heart”, “Warwick Avenue”. My special mentions: Dido “Safe Trip Home” and Alicia Keys “As I Am”. Krassie

  17. Diamondback on January 2, 2009 at 12:46 am

Whoo ya dig KOL! It’s hard for most people to absorb Caleb’s voice. And how about ‘Electric Feel’ by MGMT? It’s an awesome one too. Speaking of awesome, I just watched the Pro Tools 8 video and the new track sounds pretty sweet! Can’t even begin to describe how much I’m anticipating LP’s next album. And also LP’s next Asian tour! It’s only been about more than a year since you guys came down to Singapore but it feels like it’s been a century. I know I’m way too demanding but please come down and play soon! My friends and I dream about it every day. Well, I promise I won’t stalk you in Haji Lane.😉
I wanna look for the dude who sends you shoes though! Such a privileged ass. Ha ha.

mgmt rules!! i love the song “kids”.

  20. Wello on January 1, 2009 at 4:13 pm

Sorry this is off topic but i was wondering Mike if you’ve ever watched/listened to In The End backwards? It’s really cool! Like seriously, i like it almost as much as i like it when it plays forward. If you’ve never seen it, you need to.

Make sure you take off the annotations, they’re distracting.

  21. NoMoreSorrowGirl on January 1, 2009 at 1:43 pm

  25. DFX on January 1, 2009 at 11:23 am

In no order: DJ Wich – Golden Touch, Snowgoons – Black Snow, Ill Bill – The Hour Of Reprisal, King Syze – The Labor Union,
Outerspace – God’s Fury, Evidence – Layover EP, The Game – LAX, Prodigy – H.N.I.C Part 2, The Roots – Rising Down

It was not a bad year, but against the years before it’s the weakest. At least in my opinion.
2009 will be better for sure. Check out what should be dropped –
    Dr. Dre – Detox,
    Eminem – Relapse,
    Jay Z – Blueprint 3,
    Raekwon – Cuban Linx 2,
Method Man Redman – Blackout 2,
    Redman – Muddy Waters 2
    and new Cypress Hill !!!

  26. NeneLP88 on January 1, 2009 at 11:03 am

HAPPY NEW YEAR MIKE!!! and all fans too😉

  28. Rolf_M on January 1, 2009 at 8:58 am

Hehe…2008 has been a great music year, and I think 2009 will be so too…especially if you guys release a new album😛..but anyways, my favorite album in 2008 is definitely Rise Against – “Appeal to Reason”…Their lyrics are brilliant as always, and their songs sounds really nice, I think it’s a really enjoyment to sit back and listen to Rise Against while you obtain the lyrics. I’ve waited a long time their new album and it did really live up to my exspectations. I think Rise Against deserves respect for trying to make the music a better place through the lyrics…Just my opinion about the best album in 2008, happy new year everyone😀

  29. katy on January 1, 2009 at 7:58 am

    Happy new year!😀

  31. YuN_RoCks on January 1, 2009 at 7:02 am

crystal castels is not really music according to my own opinion, noise I’ll say, not something I’d listen to ever. santogold is interesting, I found her out thanks to grey’s anatomy and its wonderful soundtrack and I love ‘creator’ too. kings of leon it’s a nice band too, I’ll find out more about them if you suggest their album! I wish you a wonderful year, on personal and professional level :] ps. I LOVE your use of punctuation! usually quotation marks include just the title, but you put inside commas too, HAHA you’re amazing! keep on rocking m/

  32. Deftones06 on January 1, 2009 at 4:21 am

The new albums of Metallica and NIN are great, but I don’t like the other bands …not my taste I’d say…Oh well, Crystal Castles is though decent…

    Anyway, Happy New Year!!!

  33. MarishkaLP on January 1, 2009 at 2:52 am

sorry for off-topic but…..HAPPY NEW YEAR, MIKE! you’re a really great and talanted person (i’m saying this not like a blind-crazy-fan) and i wish your muse never leaves you and stays right behind you so you could continue making this brilliant music and the art! thank you, LP, for this incredible year – 2008! thanx for everything you do!

  36. nillp on December 31, 2008 at 11:39 pm

i confess that last year i was a person more into movies than music. so, i’m not able to give you a decent comment about these albums besides Death Magnetic that i HAD TO buy! x)

since all my attention was turned to the movies last year, i’d like to see your “top 5” of it..🙂 here it’s mine..
    #
    The Dark Knight :’D

    Iron Man

The Mummy: Tom of the Dragon Emperor

    Street Kings

    The Incredible Hulk
    #
anyway. it’s 2009 in Brazil for 6 hours (i didn’t come here before ’cause i was more drunk than now sleepy 8) so, grab a glass of absinthe/vodka (you choose😉 to yourself and LET’S TOAST!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR! o/o

Thanks for posting so many recommendations for different types of music. I heart new things. Also, I know you don’t want us to leave of-topic comments, so I’m going to leave you comment regarding your record label’s recent actions on your LPN profile. It’s a concern of mine.

  39. teresamff on December 31, 2008 at 7:13 pm

thanks for all the recommendations, mike🙂 i didn’t know that some of these artists existed and i was really surprised with MGMT and Santogold, they’re awesome (a big, big thanks for sharing)! about Metallica and Kings of Leon i just want to say that they rock… their last albuns were fu**ing great, i’m totally addicted!

    Your best rap:

I was just replaying Dedicated, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x77gME-Rc5Y …… arguably your best rap ever.

Atleast in my opinion🙂 Happy New Years.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!^^

  43. analoggirl on December 31, 2008 at 3:46 pm

First of all, let me say that I love that nod to Ferris Bueller. As an ’80s movie geek, you’ve made me all giddy.

Moving on. I’m loving MGMT and Vampire Weekend. The Roots and NIN are old favourites, but for some reason they got lost in the mix this year. And I must be living under a rock because I had never heard of Santogold, but I really like her sound. (“L.E.S. Artistes” reminds me of The Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, but I digress.) Another great album from 2008 would be Bloc Party’s Intimacy.

    Happy New Year. 🙂

  44. LPTereza on December 31, 2008 at 3:23 pm

Happy New Year ,Mike!and to whole band and LP fans:-)

  45. jlatorre on December 31, 2008 at 3:23 pm

Looks like I need to check out MGMT and Kings of Leon. I’ve heard a lot of great things about their albums this year and your post was just the catalyst I needed to check them out.

Did you like Thrice’s latest? I heard you were a big fan of Vheissu and I was a little suprised their newest wasn’t on your list.

Anyways, here are some of my fav.’s of this year:
The Gaslight Anthem- 59 Sound (You seriously need to check this out, FUCKING AMAZING record. I promise you, you will be hooked)
    Thrice- Alchemy Index 3 &4
    Panic at the Disco- Pretty.Odd
    Rise Against- (Appeal To Reason)
    Dillinger Four- CIVIL WAR
    Tom Gabel- Heart Burns
    Alkaline Trio- Agony and Irony

  53. murry on December 31, 2008 at 2:06 pm

Interesting list. I’m with you on Santogold and MGMT and I’ve been down with Kings of Leon for awhile. But, I do agree that this latest one is KOL’s best. Metallica’s never really been my thing, and I don’t know if I can get into Crystal Castles, but I know someone who would, so I’m going to recommend them to him. The band I got into this year was Flobots. I enjoyed that album quite a bit. I also really enjoyed NERD’s new one.

  54. Paulett on December 31, 2008 at 1:29 pm

Woow Mike, great albums! one of my favorites of this year was “Magic Recoveries” of Disco Ensemble, they are awesome! but no as much as LP😀❤
I wish you spend a very Happy New Year with your loved ones!🙂
Happy New Year to Chaz, Brad, Rob, Phoenix and Joe too😀
    I Love you guys!❤

  56. nurba on December 31, 2008 at 12:54 pm

“Rising Down” by The Roots the Album of Year🙂

  57. tacos_on_tuesday on December 31, 2008 at 12:35 pm

Hmmmm… interesting how so many can have a common bond yet be so diverse. As I get older (thirties) I find the musicical style I am leaning to have a more reggae dancehall beat.

So my number choice of the year is Pepper- Pink Crustaceans Good Vibrations. Don’t let the perverse 1 radio hit wonder song kill your ability to explore them.

  58. poki on December 31, 2008 at 12:32 pm

Mike, you said that LP has the best fans in the world. well, some of those hardcore fans, some of those who stand in the first row on a show are going to face the court or are threatened to be and their sites are already down! I know this is a label thing but your voice counts much more than our, voices of the fans! There’s fear spreading inside the community…

  59. lucky_cat on December 31, 2008 at 12:32 pm

Yippee! Yeah, SANTOGOLD, definitely MY favorite album 2008 !!! I like “Lights out” so much … I would like to mention 2 further albums: Scars On Broadway – Scars On Broadway and Amadou & Mariam – Welcome To Mali.
    Happy New Year, everybody!

  60. Fox on December 31, 2008 at 12:15 pm

I may have to check these bands out, except Metallica and Kings of Leon, ’cause I’ve heard of them. I hope 2009 is an amazing year for you all. Ciao!

  61. ninguem on December 31, 2008 at 11:59 am

mike sorry, but the only album which i liked of your list was metallica, they finally back to do a nice music after the disaster of st anger
and i wish to you and lp a nice new year, spent your night with those you love and start 2009 happy and making good music
    (L)

and my top 5 of 2008 was

road to revolution – guess who?
    circus – britney spears
    black ice – ac/dc
    death magnetic – metallica
the last album of offspring, i dont remember the name

  62. tpbarbosa on December 31, 2008 at 11:56 am

Great albums Mike! Your music taste is pretty cool, my favorites from the ones you listed are: Metallica, Rise against and NIN (<3)
By the way, that friend, Corey, you mencionated, is the Slipknot’s vocalist? O.O if not, lol ok.
HAPPY NEW YEAR Mike! I wish you all the happiness, love, peace and many concerts to come!
Can wait to see the album released <333
I love you and Linkin Park, you all made my life better! Thanks for everything Mike! *great now a have tears on my eyes :p*

  63. rockermeg on December 31, 2008 at 11:53 am

I’ve always been a Metallica fan but I really hate Kings of Leon but they have improved greatly over the last year.
Vampire Weekend are great, you’ve converted me!
Crystal Castles is weird but I sorta like it
My top five albums from 2007/08 are:
    Minutes to Midnight
Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace (Foo Fighters)
    Road to Revolution
    Death Magnetic (Metallica)
Memory and Humanity (Funeral for a Friend)
Scream, Aim and Fire (Bullet for my Valentine)
Ah…that was six, my apologies. But I couldn’t leave out BFMV,,that album is killer!
    Happy new year!!

Hi Mike… plz let me share something.
I just had dream about u. I was somewhere in ur house in my dream. When I saw u, U was carrying 2 years old babe in ur hand then u told me something like he’s ur son.
Ur little boy is sooo cute but he doesn’t looks like u much. He looks like Anna more : )
Anyway, I’m glad to see u in my dream.
    Happy New Year!!!

  65. p_lane on December 31, 2008 at 11:38 am

First off, Farris Bueller is a classic movie and I never get tired of it.

And secondly, Santogold = love. And I can’t believe Rolling Stone magazine named Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” the number one song of the year and “L.E.S. Artistes” number two. Personally, that should be switched around. . .but whatev Rolling Stone. And I agree with you on the fave tracks, but I would add on “You’ll Find A Way” and the remix and “Anne”.

On a side note, if M.I.A. and Santogold did a track together I would be all over that like white on rice. . . .

  66. Raspberry on December 31, 2008 at 11:34 am

Great fotw list there Mike … a couple i have heard of so i don’t feel as old now, although i shouldn;t seeing as you are the same age as me🙂 I hope you and the guys and their families and all the fans have a wonderful and healthy 2009 xxxxxxx

  70. LPAngel on December 31, 2008 at 11:23 am

Great videos Mike! Happy new year for you, for your family, for the other members of LP and for their families =)=). keep making good music and good shows😉. good luck with your next album =).

  71. Lynnie on December 31, 2008 at 11:17 am

Hey. I’m not a big fan of any of those bands, but I’ll probably check out Metallica and KOL when I get home on January 10th.
    ~
I’m in the UK so I’m less than 5 hours away from ’09, but you’re around 13 hours away I think. ~Nyah nyah~
    ~
So, I just want to wish you all a happy new year and I wanted to say ‘thank you’ – it may not seem important to you, but your music has always helped me through some hard times, and this year was no different.
I hope ’09 brings you all the luck and prosperity in the world – take care of yourselves and each other.
    ~
And to everyone else: happy new year to you, too.

    Lynnie
    xx

  72. MelMinerva on December 31, 2008 at 11:00 am

    Why?
WB is closing fanpages which includ. pics, interviews some ex. media (even italian sites are concerned!.afaI know these downloads weren’t against a copyright.e.g: LPHQ: Know she paid a lot of money for those pics and that she had the permission to upload these pics.now there is the possibility that she is goin in prison? Sth must go wrong.I think celebrity (espec. nowadays) needs the support of the fans worldwide (best=Internet). But by “killing” YT-Videos,Pages,etc this support will stop (to my mind) someday.I don’t think it’s fair against the fanbase to eliminate those communities.I guess a community is one of the most important things for a band.So why destroying it?It’s stupid 2me.

Wow, nice list. I’m pretty impressed. Santogold’s album is a masterpiece. She totally blew my mind with that. I remember the first time i heard creator, I was like what the fuck is this shit. She is unbelievable. I can understand why she gets compared to M.I.A but Santogold is way better, wayyy better. I’m glad you mentioned “The Slip” I thought it was amazing too (:
I also loved City & Colour’s “Bring Me Your Love” that was dope. I also loved the Bon Iver record “For Emma…” that was beautiful. MGMT is the only thing me and my mom can agree on and call good music without arguing. Their record is amazing. Vampire Weekend’s record totally caught me by surprise, I think it’s pure genius😀

  74. MusicalMorphine on December 31, 2008 at 10:27 am

I recently got into KOL and am trying to be good and buy their album instead of downloading it. I still haven’t got around to it. Well it is cold outside!

  75. Silent_Control on December 31, 2008 at 10:26 am

Wonder what will happen to all the LP-fanpages. (Warner already closed two of them and wants to judge the admins) Visit http://www.LPlive.net 4 more information.
Guess Mike should get to know…

  79. DRUMMERDALZIEL on December 31, 2008 at 9:04 am

My album of the year has to be RTR of course, mainly becuase I was there!

Have a good New Year dude, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do (don’t worry, that doesn’t narrow your options much XD)

  80. Melissa on December 31, 2008 at 9:00 am

You’re mate has a good taste in music🙂
Actually I know what you mean, my older brother has been into them for years but it was Only By The Night that stood out to me because I always felt their earlier albums were a bit repetitive. Maybe they have found their artist high? Hah. ‘Notion’, is probably my favourite track, it’s a pretty freaking fantastic tune to belt out in the car. I liked the sound of Santogold so I’m going to check out some more from her – tah x

  83. nikkiann0100 on December 31, 2008 at 8:46 am

Some of those videos I hadnt seen yet but they are all pretty good. My favorites are Metallica and MGMT. I really got into the new metallica album this year and was impressed when I saw them live in Nov because they did alot of the new stuff. It was a good show, even though it would have been 10 times better if Linkin Park would have been there. Just kidding, but the thought did cross my mind. Happy New Years to you and your family.

  84. Shinizzle3 on December 31, 2008 at 8:04 am

hehe i didn’t know, you like kings of leon…oO
    i only know this “sex on fire”….but it’s a cool song =D

MIKE, PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR FANS!!!!! Many fan sites have been shut down because of WB. The fan sites did nothing wrong. For example linkin-park.it only had pictures, HT demos, instrumentals, acapellas and stuff like that. You fully support the sharing of that!!!!! Even http://linkinpark-hq.blogspot.com/ got shut down and all she had was pictures!!!!! THAT IS THE SITE OF THE GIRL THAT THREW THE T-SHIRT ON STAGE AT THE DUSSELDORF, GERMANY SHOW!!!! Remeber???? It said ‘I love PHX’!!!!!!! Please answer soon!!!! I hope you can resolve this soon. If anyone can do it, you guys can. Have a Happy New Year and thank you for all you do!!!!!!

  89. Ash75 on December 31, 2008 at 7:18 am

hmm… my favourite album of the year…. It’s hard to say. Anyway, Happy New Year to You, Mike, your family and friends :)))

  90. Mark86 on December 31, 2008 at 7:17 am

By Crystal Castles I knew “Courtship Dating”… definitely more easy to listen and the video is kinda cool.

  91. Marlena_LP on December 31, 2008 at 7:14 am

Yay, Kings Of Leon! It´s really an awesome album.
    And MGMT…well yeah,sure xD

  92. joao on December 31, 2008 at 7:06 am

Hello Mike! I want to know, what do you think about the warner’s atitudes, for some fans sites. Because, some fans sites are being closed by Warner! It’s fair?

    Nice list of albums

  93. keineAhnung on December 31, 2008 at 6:56 am

Totally LOVE the new rise against album!!! these guys are awesome (really hope they’ll be at rock am ring in 2009)🙂 …but: how comes you didn’t mention scars on broadway? ;p
anyway…my top 5 would definitely be: rise against (appeal to reason), coldplay (viva la vida), the offspring (Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace), disturbed (indestructible) and of course bullet for my valentine (scream aim fire)🙂

  94. missdunno on December 31, 2008 at 6:42 am

I love your choices! Crystal castles was the only one I didn’t know, and I agree with you it’s pretty”unique” and “bizarre” lol! I’m gonna check out the new NIN and The Roots, I didn’t did it yet. Btw, I’m really glad you mentionned Rise Against, I hope I will be able to get their record! I discovered them a couple of months ago, and I love them so much. That’s my favorite band after LP of course😉 You guys rule!

  95. zwierz on December 31, 2008 at 6:23 am

Yeah, sorry for offtopic, but maybe you could tell us something about this situation, Mike. Your fans can go to jail because they publish the pictures of you? Warner is freakin sick. I’ve always thought that publishing pictures, HT demos, instrumentals, acapellas and staff like that is legal.
    Greetings

  96. Andizzle on December 31, 2008 at 6:01 am

    Hey Mike,
wow I never thought you’d be into Kings of Leon… you continue to suprise me🙂 I love your diversity.

My favourite album of this year would have to be Puzzle from Biffy Clyro (yes I know it technically came out last year but I was abit slow on the uptake). Its seriously epic, well worth a listen as every song is brilliant!

    Happy New Year! – Andi

  97. lilIverson09 on December 31, 2008 at 5:46 am

    Nice choices Mike
im certainly suprised with your choice about the carter III, personally lil wayne is a tad overrated. But nice choice w/ Metallica,Rise Against, & NIN!
Also why is Warner going around and shutting down fan websites? They shut down LPHQ(a photo website) and then a LPIT.

  98. minodagirl91 on December 31, 2008 at 5:32 am

What about Road To Revolution?? That’s the album of 2008!!! I wish you and your family a happy new year Mike…
Hope you the best…. Have Fun!!! Love ya.. =)

amazing music… Metallica is legend…(^-^) happy new year to all of you by the way…
hope you had a great year…(^-^), keep on making(and recommending) good music…

  106. Jome on December 31, 2008 at 4:00 am

I’m glad you mention Rise Against. That is my favourite band alongside Linkin Park. You guys should really go on tour together, that would kick ass.

Btw, Mike. What the fuck has your label going on? They are shutting down LP Fansites everywhere now and threatening people to take them to court. So far Linkin-Park.it and http://linkinpark-hq.blogspot.com/ (a HQ picture site) has been closed?! I mean, is this really how you want your label to treat your fans? It’s crazy in my opinion.
You can check out more facts at lplive.net, but hurry before they get shut down as well.

Have a happy new year, by the way.

  107. Lori on December 31, 2008 at 4:00 am

i loveeee kings of leon….i really got into them with “Because Of The Times” (shes such a chaaarrmerr oh no) – but i really think they outdid themselves with “Only By The Night” – every song is timeless…on another note michael macintyre talking about sex on fire is hilarious. MGMT are brilliant and that album reminds me of Rocknessss this yr when i was muchoo drunk (: good times!! Thanx for introducing me to Crystal Castles….Crystal Castles Vs Health “Crimewaves” is one of the most played on my ipod now. M.I.A.s song with Timbaland is one of my faves..”check my coat in and i pay the dollah sidekick rings whats up? hollah!” and santogold is awesome! HAPPY NEW YEAR (:

  108. Daniel on December 31, 2008 at 3:54 am

good choice Mike, i like MGMT and Metallica, thanks for the recommendations. happy new year to you all~~ =]

Nice Choise!!!!!!!! AND HAPPY NEW YEAR, MIKE!!!!!!!!!!! ! ! !! ! ! !!! !! !! ! ! !!! ! ! ! ! !! I got Road To Revolution today and i have to say that it’s The best DVD i’ve ever watched. The most beautiful, a little romantis and just….. it’s just AWESOME! FENOMENAL! FANTASTIC!!!! Even if i’m late, but i had to say that. And Thank you for your music, thank you for your videos, thank you for all! Be happy, LP, coz you have us, you have your fans and i think it’s the best gift for you. Best wishes.

  111. Dori on December 31, 2008 at 3:16 am

Completely agree with you on Death Magnetic! I have to say that I find it a little repiticious (sp?), but it’s kick-ass… You like Kings of Leon? I have no idea why I find that suprising, considering I’m not really familiar with the band, but I do… sorry… What are you looking forward to musically, other than Dead by Sunrise and your new album (haha), in the new year? Have a great New Years! Love you lots!

  112. tyrhiujn on December 31, 2008 at 3:00 am

i consider rise against as the best band to deafen any annoying noises. their music is loud, doesn’t irritate me much and doesn’t need my attention. so i just put them on and can go back to what i wanna do not hearing screaming people or whatever.

i’ve been wondering whether you like Sigur Rós. cause imo you should lol

and come on, ghosts are pretty amazing.

  113. antje on December 31, 2008 at 2:47 am

    nice choices…..
Happy New Year…my best wishes to you and your family, friends, neighbours…🙂

  117. Carla on December 31, 2008 at 1:00 am

I better check out the rest. (other than Metallica, Nin, Lil’ Wayne, Vampire Weekind, and The Roots) Oh, I love Santogold to bits! She seriously needs more love and I love that the people I personally know that like her are in fact the type she criticizes in L.E.S. Artistes…which I really have to credit her for. She captured my anger being an artist right into that song. “You don’t know me, I am an introvert an excavator; I’m duckin’ out for now, a face in dodgy elevators; Creep up and suddenly I found myself an innovator” is the line that blew me away mainly because I can relate to it so well. My favorites have to be that, “Creator,” “Say Aha,” and “Anne.” Happy New Year to you to!😀

  118. po2ja on December 31, 2008 at 12:51 am

    Great recommendations…….. have a happy new year……🙂

  119. thompson on December 31, 2008 at 12:43 am

woot! Rise Against. One of my top five with linkin park at the head, paramore, three days grace, and rage against the machine.

  120. Illara on December 31, 2008 at 12:40 am

    awesome recommendations!😀

    Metallica’s one pretty good.

haha, happy new year, Mike. take care!

  121. ThunderStrike on December 31, 2008 at 12:28 am

I love NIN!! Trent is one of the most talented musicians out there (imo). Maybe you should collaborate with him sometime. I find Metallica a little annoying, and I haven’t heard of any of the rest.
Thanks for letting us know of this.
Have a happy and safe new year!! =]

  122. KATHYxx on December 30, 2008 at 11:51 pm

I freaking love NIN, that’s on my top 10.
    Also Metallica, but below NIN.

PS: I almost can’t believe you have like 11,000 songs, legally :p danggg. I couldn’t say that earlier.
    happy new year🙂

EDIT: wow cool vids, that helps a lot
EDIT EDIT: THANKS FOR FINDING SANTOGOLD. I’ve been looking for the name of the artist of that song for a while
