Promote Yourself

February 17, 2009

This post is to help you promote your band. IF YOU ARE A MUSICIAN (in a band / singer / rapper / producer, etc.), post about yourself here. In the comments on this page, write a short description about yourself and your music, and include a link to your home page or wherever your music and bio are.

1 – Don’t embed stuff in the comments, or the page will get annoying. Links only. It would be ideal if the page or pages you link to have music. But the fewer links the better–one link to your main home page is best.

2 – Don’t post unless you are the artist. I do not want to see: “Hey, I like your band,” “My friend’s band is cool,” etc.

Again, this post is for artists only. So…if you don’t make music, don’t post a comment. Instead, your job here is to listen to it: go through the posts and see which ones you like best, and wait until my next blog post to comment–the next blog post will be for all of you who don’t make music.

  1. BastiCE on June 20, 2009 at 9:12 am

    Hey Mike,
my name is Basti, I am 21 years old and from Bavaria, Germany. First of all, I want to say that that your presentation is a really cool opportunity for any musicians/bands. I am making music as well with my project “Corrosive Emptiness”. The name comes from the particular feeling of being empty. I try to fill that hole with an emotional combination of alternative rock and punk music.

The songs currently consist of sampled drums and my guitar work. The latter represents the focus of the music. I experiment with solos trying to give the songs a voice. Hopefully you enjoy my songs.

    Best regards,

  2. Traz on March 4, 2009 at 8:47 am

What’s Good Mike? Thank you for doing this. My name is Traz Messiah. I’m from Newark, New Jersey. I was previously in a Rap/Metal Band called One Day Left for 5 years. We disbanded roughly 2 years ago. I spent that time finding out who I was as a solo artist along with what my message was. Now that I’ve figured that part out (lol), I would desperately love to let the rest of the workd know who I am and what I’m doing. Here’s a link to my MySpace page. Hope you like what I’m doing, but if you don’t, let me know what i can do to improve. Thanks again man…….

Hey, been away so didnt see this post until now.. but here goes:
    We (Triumph & Disaster, yeah, it’s based on Chester’s title for M2M, we haven’t really decided on the name yet though…) are a band from Sweden constising of 3 members at the moment, 2 guitarists and a drummer.. a bassist and singer will be trying out with us next week, but that hasn’t stopped us from writing music, I’ve already written about 8 songs which are both crap and really good, check out our myspace for a 100% computer-generated clip of a song + some covers by rise against and system of a down;

  5. RockyP on February 25, 2009 at 8:02 pm

I guess I am like, totally late, but….

I’m Rocky Palos. I pretty much do everything, but you can call me a composer/producer/emcee/poet and…different.
I’m often compared to the likes of Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and sometimes Mike Shinoda. I’ve also done remixes for a couple somewhat famous Canadian artists and will be working on a couple EPs this year.
You can check my music out at

or my seldom updated facebook that’s got a couple of different songs!

Check out my music, I only have one song on there, but I spent a very long time writing that song. Sounds a bit like Linkin Park.

  10. jejgalvin on February 23, 2009 at 4:05 pm

This is my band KOSA. It’s a 5 piece Rock-Soul band from the UK. We’ve been doing what we do for around about a year now, playing venues, writing songs and now recording our first E.P. The best tunes to look out for on our Myspace are “NEW STYLE” and “Afterthought”.

Not sure if i can post two bands but this is my Hip Hop Band. I know you’ll all love it. We play the music as a band (like the Roots). I guess the main tune to look out for is “FURGH QUE”

    (p.s I’m the Bassist!)

Hey, my name is Patrick ‘Pakkun’ Hammill.
I’ve been a member of the LPU since 5.0.
I’ve been playing guitar for around 7 years.
Haha, unfortunately, I never developed my vocals well but at least I try, right?
I’m actually meeting with a singer tomorrow so check in because I plan on getting a recording done with him ASAP.
Anyway, as of now, I do lead, rhythm, bass and vocals for the band.
I also edit and ‘Master’ every song to the best of my ability.
I hope you can enjoy it, even with the bad vocals.

Hey, I’m a guy from Germany and I make music or write stuff together with friends. I’m producing the stuff by myself and just startet studying audio engineering. I have no specific musical style as I play different instruments – I try a lot of things but one of my favourites is composing scores. But I have still much to learn!!! The Myspace-Account is pretty new and I launched my official website last year… but actually I’m really bad in programming a website 😉 At the moment I’m working on the English translation of everything. Maybe you guys check out my stuff and give some feedback – I would really appreciate it!! Best wishes!!!

My name is Andrew, I write short instrumental songs. I’m still working on my own “sound”, so you can tell there’s a little Linkin Park influence. I’m working on an album, but that probably won’t be out for another year. Check it out here: (Don’t worry, you can still see it without being a member of facebook)

  22. DRUMMERDALZIEL on February 21, 2009 at 2:02 pm

Hey Mike, I like this idea. Unfortunately my band has only just got some new members so the music on our website is old and not too good, but it’d be much appreciated if you checked it out and possibly checked up on it now and again. We’re called Isolated Incident and have four members, and are making some rock/metal stuff with a little bit of funk and ska thrown in.

Also, I know it isn’t a band, but me (James, the drummer) and my guitarist Darren have an internet radio show promoting our local music. I’m afraid I have no idea what time it would be over there in the states, but it goes live at 5pm GMT on Tuesdays.

A project driven by poetry, turning painful moments in life into inspiring scenarios, where getting up and moving on are the only option. Music to inspire and drive. As i record and write, learn and progress, i try to implement those new learned mechanics and techniques you learn along the way into the newer songs. I would be honored if you’d take a bit of your time to listen to our project. I produce the instrumentals, i mix the songs and i’m the vocalist/rapper. I’d mean a lot because i would’ve never done this if it wasn’t because of you Mike, you inspired me and got me into music for the first time. Here it is: .

  26. pspdshybrid on February 21, 2009 at 10:45 am

Hey Mike, first off I’d like to say thank you for giving us the opportunity to share our music w/ you and each other. My name is Alex and I’m an Emcee/guitarist who has been writing lyrics for about 4 years and playing guitar for a year and a half. I use a program called Fruity Loop for my drum beats. My sound can range from a slow moving song to an upbeat big song. My latest song i made is called Underneath this Mask talking about how we hide our real personality to certain people to look “cool” or fit in. i performed it at my new school and got a lot of props from people. if you listen, i hope you enjoy what i have to offer; an EP is in the making. Thx again ~G

mike, I am forming a band, I am a guitarist, my cousin is a guitar maker and has his friend who sings and is learning to play viol. my cousin and I have many influences, both in bands and artists from abroad, as those of Brazil. I love blues, jazz and a mixture that only knows how linkin park … my concern is to end to form a band, do not know if will work, together with some musicians from other places … what do you think? give me a hint on how I can make this band, relying on all members!

  28. Das419 on February 21, 2009 at 12:28 am

Hey Mike – Dave from The Randals

We play original material, which is mainly rock, with a dash of country, soul and pop thrown in. Although we don’t like to label ourselves, we have been called a mix between the Arcade Fire and the White Stripes, with some Modest Mouse thrown in.

    Hope you check us out,

    Artist: MaC Renegade

My name is Elijah White but my stage name is MaC Renegade or eMaC. I’m young but I can still tell the difference between real hip hop and the fake commercial stuff that is just used for promoting the latest dance or some new beat. The kind of music I make is mostly a definition of self. Im not trying to say I’m going to change the state of hip hop, but I definitely think that as an emcee I am an indivisual. I like bluring different genres of music to create a unique sound of music. Well anyway Im gonna stay true to hip hop and I’m not gonna give up untill my voice is heard . Tell me wat u think.

    New City Streets

(all of the music on the myspace are synths and also are incredibly early seed ideas. We’re heading to the studio in June to get some high quality material up there and start really promoting. No vocal lines recorded, due to the quality standard we’re setting.)

I hope everyone enjoys it! Definitely check out Swimming With The Fishes, because it has the heavier rock/techno metal sound we’re aiming for. Hopefully you enjoy it Mike! (We’re hoping to send to Machine Shop, so any criticism is appreciated)

Hey Mike! It’s Tommy… I was the kid with the weird Red/bleached hair at the secret LP show with Busta Rhymes at your practice studio. Anyway, I got some music!
My stage name is Rather Red… I make some rock/post-hardcore songs, some rap songs, some electronic stuff/remixes, and a lot of songs that are a mix of them all (what can I say, you’ve influenced me lol).
The songs that generate the most interest have definitely been “Emotion” (a rap song), and “Alter Ego” (a rap-screamo song). Thanks a lot for this opportunity, Mike!

My name is Jamie (I am a guy :P), I have been interested in audio editing since about 2000-2001. I used to make remixes of Linkin Park’s music through collaborations and the like and began taking interest in making my own music using real guitar, bass, and any other sounds I could come up with and mix them together. I am too cheap to buy a real drumset and an actual studio but a cheap microphone was good enough at the time. I am now using a Rock Band microphone to record my instruments (It sounds hilarious..but it actually picks up sound quite well.) If you like techno, metal, industrial you may like what i have on my page. I have a couple remixes on there as well!

  38. Kacy on February 19, 2009 at 5:56 pm

Hey Mike! Over the past year or two I’ve been working on a lot of instrumentals. As of this moment it’s more along the traditional side of the spectrum (strings, piano) but I have some other tracks in the working right now. It’s all midi work as I’ve been focused on composing. The current goal is to gather enough material to make an instrumental album that I’ll (at worst case) proudly say I made on my own. At best, I’d try to ship it out as potential soundtrack material or to record professionally. You can check out a few (2 and a half – Fallen Angel is not the full version) of the tracks at:

    Thanks for looking through!

I’ve been recording my own music for a while now, just as a solo artist, as I haven’t found anyone to start a band with yet. 45. RafaelDK on February 19, 2009 at 6:33 am
It was a young band (I could say it’s dead right now). Although I wasn’t the only member, I did most of the work (composing, producing and mixing). We didn’t get to do any vocals though… never did any gigs or anything like that. Both songs took me ~20 hours to finish, but I never found the time to continue making music…

Anyway, you can hear some of our songs at our official myspace at:

The recording that is up is a reeeeally rough draft but it’s all I have to show right now. We’re in the process of recording our EP right now which will hopefully be done in a few weeks. Once that’s done we’ll have more songs up so keep an eye out for some new stuff from us.

You can also add us on reverbnation (great site for you other musicians! Check it out!).

PS. I think this is a GREAT idea. I hope you do it again in the future so I have the chance to promote a better product than the recording we have up now.

During the process I will be shooting a documentary to help others artists make an independent album, or just record their songs better. As I am currently in production I don’t have any new material to put up. My older stuff I worked on can be found here:

The music, at it’s core is a hip hop project, but I am trying to blend as many genre’s together as I can, and using real insturments and tracking live to do the music. I’m really excited about the project and I hope it gets done in the next few months THX

Hey my name is Ashley, i am a 13 yr old singer from Florida, but i have some issues.
I want to post my music online and stuff, but i cant cuz my mom thinks that i am too young. If i cant do that, is their any other ways that i can show people my voice and express myself? Because i want people to hear my voice, but i cant do it on the internet.
Also at my school we r a prep school and all of the voices I hear are nothing like what i want to sound like. I want to sound like you and Chester, but all the voices i hear daily r Opera-like and people dont think i am good at my school because i dont sound like them. Instead I kind of sound like a girl-version of Billie Joe Armstrong.

    Hello everyone,
I’m Clément Elbaz, from France, and I’m the brain behind Thunder of Angels.
Basically I’m doing everything in it : composing, writing, performing, singing, mixing, mastering, designing the booklets, even programming the website.

The music is metal mixed with electronics, acoustics, even hip hop. It’s quite hard to describe.
So that’s why I hope you will listen to it instead ! 🙂

A new single came out one week ago. This one is in English, but everything else is in French. If you never listened to music sang in French, it can be an interesting first opportunity.

Listen to the splash and browse the site.

    See you on

Hi, I am CherryTeresa, a keyboardist/pianist/synthesist from Baltimore, MD.
The music section of my site – – includes some solo demos I’ve recorded, along with songs I recorded in my previous bands. The solo songs are me singing and playing and the band stuff includes other musicians (I just play keys on the band stuff, I’m not singing).
You’ll hear different genres, such as: electronic, classical, metal, acoustic, pop, alternative, emo.
I also have pages on social networking sites. Just click on the links section of my website and add me as a friend if you like. 😉

Btw, some of you really suck – “if you don’t make music, don’t post a comment”

My main project is soloproject called RMf555. My style is everything from rap-based punk to trance-based nu-metal. I just love making music – and I do it mostly for fun – that’s why people mostly don’t like it:D It’s kinda old stuff here, but I’m working on my next self-made album. The site is Unfortunately – most songs are in Estonian, but some has English verses too:) Also check out my videos – if you have a chance – on

Also I am part of a rock band called Surakas. I play rhythym guitar there, so I have very little part there:D It’s site is It’s fully Estonian unfortunately.

    Enjoy, if it’s worth enjoying;)

Hi, everyone. I run a solo project called Razor Red Noise, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I’ve been making music steadily over the past 2 or 3 years and I’ve just released my second album called “Blood Winter” on iTunes. I’ve been frequently compared to Linkin Park but I try and maintain as much uniqueness in my style as I can. (LP covers, among others)

    Thanks for reading.

I’m just a promoter for my brothers band. actually i’m the one playing the sucky ass distorted part on my brothers song. hes the clean part in the beginning
His band - (Kodiak Like The Bear)
Believe it or not, my brothers band had an opportunity to play with deftones, as one of their managers or something liked their sound. But for some reason it didn’t work out. I doubt anyone will read this message, so this is all i can say. My bro doesn’t know i promote for him actually. I just believe in his music, give em a chance

  84. soyuneik on February 17, 2009 at 11:22 pm

My real name is SoUneik, but sometimes people call me Maria. ..I have no idea why. I’m actually a purplish tinted gaseous cloud floating out in the depths of space and this physical form is merely a projection of that. I’m technically what you’d call a beatsmith or an aspiring producer. Most of the time my beats are hip-hop based, but as a lover of music, I’m open to any genre. I’m currently working with a number of artists, mainly local and underground emcees. My instrumental album “Enoch’s Vessel” drops in August of this year. Check me out here:

  85. ValleyForge on February 17, 2009 at 11:04 pm

What up Mike, I’ve been making beats for awhile now, and you have been a big influence on my style. I like listening to your instrumentals and believe you are one of the best producers out there, and it is hard for you to get recognition as a producer because most people see you as just a rapper in Linkin Park. But hey, your probably like me in that I don’t really care what recognition I get, I just like to make beats cuz thats who I am. Anyways I’d like you all to check out out my stuff, and hope you enjoy it.

Hey all, I’m Alex and lately I’ve been doing vocal covers of songs for youtube. Check them out and tell me what you think. Some of my musical influence comes from Linkin Park, Avenged Sevenfold, Nine Inch Nails, Papa Roach, Red, Rise Against, Seether, Three Days Grace, etc. Thanks for letting us artists get the word out about some of our musical works, Mike!

Bio: Small band in Lexington, KY trying to find somewhere to start finally getting in a small studio the past month and have gotten some things done. Influences of the band come from everywhere Tool, NIN, Flobots, even some LP, just to name a few of our wide range. Looking for that “sound” that defines us. Im the lead vocalist (the guy) and my passion and life is music, I want to be able to walk into a store one day and be like “Hey! I spent 10 months in a studio making that!” and feel proud. I love hearing people enjoying our music, and theres nothing like performing live.
Thanks Mike! You rock and are one of my biggest influences.

  90. ThaHandyman on February 17, 2009 at 9:02 pm

Hey Mike, thanx for doing this.I consider myself a producer.I’ve mixed a lot of LP material and made quite a few beats, though i dont have the software or band to make anything too profound,I live in Oklahoma man.I love your music and production style, though you cant too clearly see it in any of my work.I know hip hop really well, atleast the fundamentals and the buisiness of it.Id like to change the world in the most positive,Godly way I can.I wanna make music that people can relate to and understand, not poppin champagne or crackin bottles.Youve givin me a lot of inspiration as a white (russian/japanese )rapper and producer,so here’s a link to my mixes.

Hey everyone, Thanks A LOT Mike for doing this. I’ve always enjoyed reading your blog. I’m Abhay and I’m in a band called Whisper Wars. The band started in summer of 2007 with my friend Jacob (bass) and I (drums). Later three other people joined. We started some songs then, but none of them were actually worth putting time into after they got into the late stages. We realized how bad it all was. In the summer of 2008 a song called Exodus and Breaking the Broken was born, neither of which are in the same genre. Our genre could be classifeid as expiremental/rock. We tend to use piano and strings quite a bit as you’ll hear. thanks

    100 Acre Sky.
I’m a student studying graphic design at the University of Cincinnati and with the workload, I have very little time for anything other than homework, so It’s still very much in its early stages.
At present I have only one full piece of very basic music which was done entirely with software instruments (not loops) in garageband.
I’m hoping soon to be able to network with friends in order to write music together and hopefully use the lyrics that I’ve been stockpiling for years and make this a full-fledged project.

It is my solo project and it is just one giant experiment. There will be rock songs… there will be rap songs… hell… there will even be reggae… it is just one giant test. I have totally restarted the process of making the first album… as the way I was doing it before sucked. I have a blog instead of a website so it would be easier to just talk about new stuff… link is: There ya go. Thanks for reading!

I’m not making music (yet) but it kills me to sit back and let all these other guys talk about their stuff when I desperately wanna show you my ideas. But that’s all they are: ideas.
Don’t get mad Mike, but I write lyrics and guitar parts. But the guitar parts are on GuitarPro5, which you have to have installed to view/hear any of my songs. Sorry.
Here’s the link to my lyrics:

Thanks Mike. I needed a way to get my music out there. I don’t have any vocals yet on both my tracks. I need to find a vocalist, as I am not comfortable with my own singing voice. I know the bass is too loud at the beginning of Fallen Barriers.

  110. Bajannez on February 17, 2009 at 2:27 pm

    Hey Mike, nice idea 🙂

This is the band I’ve been in for about a year now, if you don’t like the singers voice (as we’ve experienced with many people) just listin to the music, not the vocals. We just got a new singer so don’t worry! We are going for a name change to. I will post when we have recorded and made a new MySpace.

You can hear the old stuff here, read our little bio and see a video of us performing. Again don’t mind the vocals if you don’t like them, we’ve got a new singer now!
