Cool, man. That’s awesome. Very expensive though.
I have the new ipod, you know, the fourth generation one, the one you can shake to shuffle and you turn it on its side and there’s a cover flow.
    Yeah…Do you have one?

  2. Lyra on March 7, 2009 at 8:57 pm

    Hey Mike~
    yeah, that’s a cute one..
    wish I could buy one..MAN IT’S EXPENSIVE..
    Anyway,enjoy it~ : )

  3. outlawserenade on March 7, 2009 at 8:57 am

    …gadget freak..

So why aren’t you tweeting already? Doug Robb has.

  4. die_4_anyone on March 5, 2009 at 4:26 pm

I have never heard of this thing before now. lol I love gadgets! Someday when I’m wealthy I will have a lot of them! lol Does it come in other colors? It looks kind of huge to me too. lol Just sayin’. Have fun with it though! lol

  5. Charlotte_Jay on March 5, 2009 at 5:37 am

I don’t think it’s ugly, actually it’s really a cool gadget and not a waste of money for those people like me who don’t like reading books.
Have a nice day and enjoy your new gadget Mike πŸ™‚

  6. linkinladie328 on March 4, 2009 at 7:53 pm

I have a question for you mike… Will there be a Projekt Rev 2009? Mostly likely ‘yes’ or most likeley ‘no’? I understand that you are working on the next album & Chester is also working on his solo project.
    …just out of curiousity. :]

  7. leticia on March 4, 2009 at 2:46 pm

    Hi Mike, Hi Guys!
What is the problem in reading the books the traditional way? Technology at all today …
    Hug – LetΓcia – Brazil

  8. beamer87 on March 4, 2009 at 9:13 am

Mike, did you hear that Amazon just released a free app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows you access the same features as the Kindle? As cool as that is, I think having the actual Kindle itself is more fulfilling.

  9. Spindelfobi on March 4, 2009 at 8:55 am

Woah, I’ll stick to the books but, I guess that thing may come in handy on tours if you dont want to bring books : D

  10. Ana_ on March 3, 2009 at 3:53 pm

It seems pretty cool but… I think I prefer books. Enjoy it anyway! πŸ™‚ *

  11. Jester777 on March 3, 2009 at 12:50 pm

No, seriously no. I wouldn’t even take that thing for free – to big, to ugly.
Well, you maybe could hand-paint it (like your guitars)…? XD
But I prefer my PSP. It’s got more functions (e-books, music, games, pics), after all. Almost perfect for long travels.

  12. Cockoroach on March 3, 2009 at 7:32 am

This Kindle2 is really biiiig!!!GIANT!Is it comfortable for use? You should be careful for your eyesight!!
I guess it’s very expensive – don’t you afraid you can broke it? xD

  13. DinaraLP on March 3, 2009 at 7:19 am

oh my god…your hand is so little near this enormous player……O_o

  14. Wello on March 2, 2009 at 4:14 pm

Do you have to charge it? lol Uh, but what if you get fed up with what you’re reading and you want to throw the book down? It’s like, “Oh sh*t! There goes all my money!” xD

  15. Madlen on March 2, 2009 at 3:19 pm

It does look cool but i prefer the real books:)It’s so relaxing to sit back with a nice book and a glass of milk LOL But anyway this will probably be in handy when you’re in hurry and you have to check something…i dunno:DI wish i had one though:D

  16. Diana_LP_adicted on March 2, 2009 at 1:49 pm

IF YOU HAVE AN AMAZONKINDLE I HAVEN’T DOUBTS THAT HE IS THE BEST ever!!! :O) , and the look is amazing WOW!!!

  17. ShadowerLiltani on March 2, 2009 at 1:38 pm

Um… Not my thing personally, but I think for studying purposes when I go back to school I might get one. It’ll save the trouble of using the internet or library if I am in a hurry. I seriously don’t think it’ll replace books though, even a friend of mine who is a computer and gaming addict, reads physical books like crazy.

  18. YuN_RoCks on March 2, 2009 at 1:26 pm

haha I can’t believe you really bought that! but I have to admit that the design looks yummy, WAYS better than the old one anyway. have a nice reading πŸ˜€

  19. rockermeg on March 2, 2009 at 1:18 pm

It looks like a white brick
Dude, I’m sorry and no offence but that is a waste of money
And what sort of a name is “Kindle”???
I’ll stick with the actual books thanks,
    Hope you enjoy it though

  20. Lynnie on March 2, 2009 at 12:42 pm

What the Hell is that thing?
It’s so ugly… I mean, it looks like some stuck a screen and some buttons on a shoddily cut piece of cardboard!
And to all those saying ‘paperbacks are doomed’ – it just goes to show how fickle the human race is to think ‘oh, something new… so naturally the old is defunct!’
Paperbacks will always be the way to go for me…
Have a nice day with your new toy…computer…screen…thingy.

  21. ANGELUS on March 2, 2009 at 12:30 pm

I wish my uncle still alive.

  22. durg on March 2, 2009 at 12:00 pm

what is thiiiis? O.o googles XD
oh, by the way, i was just curious.. on the episode of dyrdeks new show FF where he has that DC party, i swear i saw him hug you XD was i seeing things or no? :p

  23. miKer0cks on March 2, 2009 at 11:37 am

Wow!!! That’s so cool πŸ™‚ Looks kinda bif though :/ I guess it can’t be bigger than the Ipod touch πŸ™‚ God I just love my Ipod touch and I wanna get the Iphone too!!! it must be cool….When I got my Ipod I asked the salesmen at the shop if they could make the back the same with your Iphone but they couldn’t 😦 hmm…anyway πŸ™‚ Have a great day Mike, and enjoy your new super-gadget πŸ˜‰

  24. PARADOX on March 2, 2009 at 11:36 am

Wow, maybe give it to Anna while she was waiting you at the back stage, and or so you don’t have to fuck her very often.

    Good Luck.

  25. BrazenEntity on March 2, 2009 at 11:09 am

they are finally letting me see the inside of my soul. i hope i don’t have to drive that stationwagon…

  26. Hawaii_LP_fan on March 2, 2009 at 10:24 am

Very cool, a sleek & stylish paperback gadget. Does it come in other colors? Maybe red or orange? Have fun with your new toy.

  27. bojkic on March 2, 2009 at 7:54 am

Yeah, this device has some flaws and design is not prefect yet, but face it paperbacks are doomed :D. Positives are numerous: “on the go” book buying and downloading, saving trees, reducing costs for new writers to publish their first books(I know Mike cares about this very much)… Hey, you can read with just one hand πŸ˜€
have a look what jon stewart think of it πŸ˜€ :

  28. Gabry94LinkinParkfan23 on March 2, 2009 at 7:36 am

uuhm thats not good, Mike XD when i see something cool like these ones i want ’em at all n nothing can stop me, so my dad is gonna kill me again ( I pay things with his money T_T). really cool stuff, maybe too big but it looks great πŸ™‚ thanks for sharing with us πŸ™‚ take care n have a great day πŸ™‚ Gabry

  29. natalia_spain on March 2, 2009 at 7:35 am

mike, that it has cost you a lot? Minimum $ 1,000 insurance. Cheaper you wait a while, but if you have that money …

  30. PankakeMunky on March 2, 2009 at 7:10 am

that’s pretty cool looking. i guess i’m the type of person who actually likes to physically have the book in my hand but of course, i’m not much of a reader anyway. i don’t really have time. that’s probably the excuse that people have today if they catch someone buying a kindle: “i wouldn’t buy that thing at all or waste my money because i’m too busy doing other ‘important’ things in life.”

  31. Squishy_Ho on March 2, 2009 at 6:53 am

all i have to say to that is:

  32. Rex on March 2, 2009 at 3:53 am

dont you get tired of people saying downloading ebooks, music and movies will kill everything? i’m not saying it doesnt hurt the buisness, but the truth is newspapers, books, cds and dvds are on the shelves today and people still buy them. i dont think books will be killed off anytime soon, but when the time comes its for the greater good of preserving the environment, less trees would be cut.

  33. liope on March 2, 2009 at 2:57 am

Well, let’s say that in some years everyone of us had one of those, which will be the benefits : 1) a huge amount of paper will be saved, 2) space will be saved too, 3) the chemicals that are being used will be reduced, that means that the environment won’t be polluted. And now the disadvantages : 1) many people will lose their jobs, 2) typography which from many people is consider as art, will be lost, 3) it is known that technology has bad effects to our health (headache, insomnia etc.) …it’s hard to decide!

“well, I think I will never ever buy a kindle…it’s just that…I think it won’t feel right, there’s nothing like holding a book in your hands and reading it”

I agree with that. Books will disappear soon. Anyway, cool gadget.

  35. MusicalMorphine on March 2, 2009 at 1:58 am

Damn. Books will be out of fashion soon.

  36. soyuneik on March 2, 2009 at 1:54 am

Wasn’t that post a while ago? You just got it? I somehow managed to visit a part of the LP sites I never want to see ever again. lol..That shit was horrific. I’m traumatized…. haha Raz “Crispy pages and library smells”
The descriptives and the methods don’t match up, but you still win. F the haters. They’re not even worth mentioning.

  37. renny on March 2, 2009 at 12:03 am

=( way to kill the written word.

  38. Lich_Ma_Art on March 1, 2009 at 10:41 pm

  43. Maaark on March 1, 2009 at 7:46 pm

Wow, no way we can find it in Brazil, man. But I like its design!

  44. DaniShinoda on March 1, 2009 at 6:12 pm

No doubt that the Kindle 2 from Amazon is a breakthrough technology to reads e-books and newspapers scanned. But, taking into account the copyright, the losses of professionals involved in such disclosure and the spread of not more newspapers printed and p-book, publishers, graphic, journalists and writers will lose their legitimate purpose and gains to do their work. In my career, for example, journalism is a process of extinction mainly because of technology and the fall of the sale of newspapers and magazines. In a country like mine, which is of “third world”, this advance will take longer to come, however, everywhere professionals depends of this to continue working. Peace from Brazil

  45. ThePrincess on March 1, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Woow cool Table ..But apparently I more attracted to ‘that hands’ than the gadget well i prefer the books still coz I can bring them to the bathroom without fear of dampness ! .. any way thanks for sharing hon .. enjoy ur new Amazon Kindle and have a nice day πŸ™‚

  46. burningdaylight on March 1, 2009 at 5:24 pm

hey – i do agree with drew that this thing has some drawbacks. in addition to the ones he mentioned, my criticism is that there isn’t a device holder big enough to fit that thing! it’s bigger than your standard calculator, yet smaller than a mini-laptop or an AlphaSmart. how do you prevent it from breaking? (although, knowing you, you wouldn’t dare break that thing lol) seeing as it’s got some nifty buttons on the sides, are those supposed to increase/decrease the screen magnification for people with lower vision? sorry for all the questions, but i’m interested lol. have fun with your new toy! : ) ps: i think some people here want you to be a hand model. seinfeld much? lol

  47. analoggirl on March 1, 2009 at 5:23 pm

I’m interested in seeing how the Kindle (and their ilk) will affect the publishing industry. Media moguls are bemoaning the demise of the newspaper, so I can only assume that books will be next. Then again, books aren’t dependent on advertising revenue and people love the tactile sensations of holding a book. Who knows. If I were to make a projection, I’d say that books will eventually become the vinyl of the written word – highly coveted to select niches.

I’m going to hold off on buying a Kindle, as I’m no early adopter. Let us know if you like it! (I’m sure Amazon is counting on that too. The power of Bloggers.)

Also, LOVE the use of “biting” in your post. lol

  48. Anstice on March 1, 2009 at 4:10 pm

I deleted my first comment so I could post this one. Again, the comment was too long for this comments section, so, I did what you said, and posted it on my blog. Hoping you take a look at what I had to say.

    Thanks =)

  49. RedD_aka_Fluke on March 1, 2009 at 4:00 pm

Hmm.. It looks pretty good πŸ™‚ Anyway, I prefer books, ‘cuz… There’s such nice feelings, when book is in your hands, you know) I like that, and I’m agree with Nomoresorrowgirl. But it’s not my case, you should do what you like, so… Have a nice day πŸ˜‰

  50. NoMoreSorrowGirl on March 1, 2009 at 3:01 pm

Looks like you and Oprah are gettin’ into that thing huh!?…looks like the new one is slimming down. But i prefer the books still, loves to turn the pages with my hands and you can turn back on the pages when you thought theirs a good quote you want to take down…LOL…so did you read the TWILIGHT!?…LP’s name in their…meyer is so addicted on you guys…Is it possible that it can download some of the books available on the year 1977?

  51. EpilepticChickenScratch on March 1, 2009 at 2:59 pm

I think I’d still rather have a good book (=. That thing is quite big and bulky. However, I agree with Chemist. Nice freaking table.

  52. Philly_Willy on March 1, 2009 at 2:27 pm

Looks good, but i think in the next one the could trim the “fat” off a bit.

  53. Chemist999 on March 1, 2009 at 2:20 pm

    Hmm… nice table. .)
And is that actually “Michael’s Kindle?” It’s kinda weird, for most of us, you’re just… Mike. Not mentioning Mr. Big. πŸ˜€

Awesome gadget….definitely want one….let us know how it works for ya Mike!

  57. MichaelFromGermany on March 1, 2009 at 1:26 pm

Hm it’s a nice gadget no question. It’s pretty practical too but I also agree with some of the others when they say that they just could keep reading normal books…that’s true…but there are two sides…for one person this Kindle is a good and handy way of having books everywhere with them and for another a normal book is enough…I don’t think we have to decide which is better… that would be ridiculous xD

    have a nice day everyone
    Best wishes πŸ™‚

  58. lucky_cat on March 1, 2009 at 1:24 pm

    I love books πŸ™‚
Manbearpig: And you can even read a book in and around water. lol, yes, that’s a great argument, I like reading in the bathtub.
Anyway, have fun with this thingy, Mike!

  61. cuz on March 1, 2009 at 1:17 pm

Hope you’ll have good time with it. I rather traditional books. Just got a list of primary school readings from ’85 and started to read them once again. That’s gonna be fun! Anyways, your new toy looks pretty good. Take care.

  62. ManBearPig on March 1, 2009 at 12:59 pm

Sure, the Kindle can make portability a bit easier, but when have you ever needed more than three books with you at one time? And books don’t require batteries. And you can even read a book in and around water. You drop a book in the bath, it gets soggy and bit wrinkly. A Kindle? I bet you’d be shitting yourself. People have said something like this will replace books, but I don’t just see it. Personally, it doesn’t make things any easier. You have to download a book, sync it, charge it and then tote it about. A book you just slip into a bag. And you can’t recreate the aesthetics of a paperback (or hardcover). A fun gadget to tinker with, but that’s about it. Do you see it replacing books?

  63. lp_fm_fan on March 1, 2009 at 12:54 pm

I saw that before, but the one that caught my eye was the Reader Digital Book by Sony because I actually got to play with it, like mess around with it not really play games lol, at Borders. Then I was like WHOA! I want one!! It was cool, but I have no money. Anyway, did you see the Nokia Concept 888? Nokia 888 or YouTube . Pretty cool.

  64. murry on March 1, 2009 at 12:53 pm

I want one of those so bad. I’ve been buying a book a week lately, and I’m running out of room.

  65. xkxixexrxax on March 1, 2009 at 12:52 pm

  69. Curiosa on March 1, 2009 at 12:26 pm

Cool, definately makes it easier to carry books but it looks soooooo………primitive (for a lack of a better word). :)~
