Just thought this was funny. I was on the road, going to mix our Transformers song when I saw these two cars. Don’t know if you can see the emblems, but…

M: You’re the first interview I’ve done for this site. Thanks for taking a minute.
R: im fucking honored. your welcome, and thank you. i have alot more minutes than you do. So maybe i should be thanking you for asking the questions. anyways..what’s good pimp sauce!
M: I posted a little while ago about an incredible track you did called “My Little Razor Blade.” Tell us about that track.
R: we heard the original track by the Knife and loved it, so we did some hip hop magic and reworked it. that song has a certain emotion in the beat that is hard to capture in hip hop music. we actually have a new Get busy song called “shoot me up” that captures that same feel. maybe even better. Scoop killed it on the beat. cant wait to put my verse on that. i’ll send it to you when its done
M: What’s your favorite track that you’ve been working on lately?
R:i have a song with Scoop deville that im doing called, “i wanna rock” shit is bananas. you’ll see why when you hear it.
M: What’s up with the other guys from Styles Of Beyond?
R: I still see Cheapshot and Vinscully all the time, they’re doing great. i haven’t heard fromTak in a long time, so im not sure what he’s up to
M: We were all really let down that Warner Bros. didn’t want to put out Reseda Beach. How did that situation go down?
R: From what i know about the situation is, Warner would have released the record, but the marketing budget they wanted to give us was so small, it would have been a monster flop. We felt we were not on anybody’s radar at the company, so we decided it would be better to leave, as opposed to dropping a brick and still being stuck in a contract with a company that has no interest in hip hop. luckily with your help, we were able to walk away from that situation with our album
M: Are you guys planning to put that album out? When / how?
R:Yes we are, i think we’re just gonna do an itunes release, and press up a small amount of cd’s. we just need the artwork and we’re good to go. we’re gonna put alot of effort into licensing our music. Its always been our bread and butter, so we’re gonna go with what we know. expect it out in 2 months. 3 tops
M: How’s it going with the new solo material? How many songs have you done?
R: Its funny, alot of people ask me about my solo album. the truth is, i’ve never been working on a solo album, i have some really good songs i’ve recorded that could be used for an album if i chose to make one, but its not something im really into right now with the state of the music industry. If i had a reason or a good situation to release an album, i would love to do it. im actually having a good time writing for other artist at the moment. I also just did a song with Rob Dyrdek, and Bishop Lamont called “Dirty girl part 2″ It came out great, so we’re gonna shoot a video for that in June at the Palms casino, directed by Jesse Terrero, who did all the 50 cent vidios. the song was produced by Rob’s cousin Drama, who is about to do big things. the kid got beats! But trust me, Dirty girl part 2 is the anthem for this summer!
M: I heard a couple new tracks that you’ve done with the Get Busy Committee. They were phenomenal! How is that project going?
R:Get busy committee is the shit! Apathy comes out to my house in May, he’ll be here for 3 months, we’re gonna finish up the GBC album as well as the Demigodz album. get busy is so fun a refreshing, i love doing it. Its the first project i’ve been really excited about in a long time
M: What do people need to know about Ryu that they don’t know?
R: I think people think im a super aggressive, rowdy, heavy drinking, party animal, i guess i have moments like that, but really i just like to relax and hang with my family, watch laker games and chill with my close friends. im not really the club guy. im pretty accessible if people wanna get at me, you know where im at. if not you can keep up with what im doing at any of the following fine locations.

BREAKING NEWS: Linkin Park will be working on the score for Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen.
Although I wasn’t at liberty to say it before, the song I’ve been referencing here on mikeshinoda.com in the past few weeks…is actually being done for Michael Bay’s new Transformers film, due out June 24th.
In addition–and probably ever cooler–we have been offered the unique opportunity to help score the film. The song we wrote is being used as one of the themes, and we will be writing various interpolations on that theme, and trying out some other thematic ideas as part of the (very large) team scoring the film.
My bandmates and I are working with award-winning film composer (and resident ass-kicker) Hans Zimmer. We met with Hans last week, and heard some of the incredible things he and his guys have done with our new song. In the next few days, we’ll be doing some work with Hans’ amazing writing and recording crew.
Michael Bay has shown us select scenes from the film, and it looks incredible. I can’t wait for you to see it.

Continuing the conversation we’ve been having about artists finding success without a major label (in posts like this and this), here’s a story about a band doing it right now.
If you haven’t heard about Metric, they’re a band who is seeing some impressive numbers on US and Canadian charts…without the help of a major record label.
They were #1 on Billboard Heat Seekers, #1 on Soundscan Top New Artists Chart, and had Debuts at #1 on Canadian iTunes Album and Rock charts, to name a few achievements.
From the LA Times: “The 10-track “Fantasies,” which took the band in a more pop direction, has sold 9,000 digital downloads in the U.S. since its release March 31, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the music industry, which counts success in the hundreds of thousands, Metric’s sales figures may not seem like much. Nonetheless, taking into account an additional 15,000 downloads the band’s co-manager said it sold internationally, Metric is seeing a higher financial return than under a major record deal.”

As some of you may have heard, my bandmates and I are proud to announce that will be releasing some games for the iPhone and iPod touch. We will be making the games with Artificial Life, and hope to have the first game out later this year, although it’s still in the design phases.
As I have definitive info about gameplay and release, you’ll be the first to know!

If only this place actually existed. The website address does work though. Someone let me know if the phone number works too. We got fine dinosaur meats!

I just heard about iGive, a great site where you can donate money to Music For Relief by simply doing the online shopping you are already doing. Very easy, and a great way to help people in need without it costing you a penny!
iGive.com is an internet company whose goal is to enable the economic power of individuals to benefit their chosen communities. iGive.com partners with over 700 of the web’s best stores, including Amazon.com, Pottery Barn, Lands’ End, Staples, eBay, PETCO, Expedia and QVC. From gifts to groceries, special occasions to everyday necessities, every purchase can help Music For Relief. Up to 26% of each and every purchase you make will benefit Music For Relief, and donation rates vary by store.
When you shop, every penny of the advertised donation goes directly to Music For Relief.
To join, use the following link: http://www.iGive.com/MusicForRelief, and Music For Relief will automatically be selected to receive your iGive earnings! You can create an iGive account in just a few moments. Also, your iGive account is totally free and private. They promise not to sell your email address or personal information to anyone (which is always nice).
Check <iGive.com/shop> to see if your favorite store is on the list. Next to each store in the iGive Mall, you’ll see exactly how much of each purchase will be donated to Music For Relief. You can also try <iSearchiGive.com>, their search engine–you’ll raise a penny (or more!) every time you search the web.

There’s something special in the raw sound of The Randals. I hope they don’t lose that. A lot of bands with a cool sound (like theirs) will, given more studio options and a bigger budget, start to make their stuff sound “more polished”–but it can be a detriment to the songs. I think they sound great.

I don’t normally put much stuff up that sounds like Doug Kwartler, but this guy is worth the exception. Check out “Strong” or “Simple Life.” Pretty cool.

OutsideR(RnR) is a rapper (or group?) from Kazakhstan. I don’t know what he’s saying, but there’s something good going on with the vocals and music. Besides, he’s got Jamie Oliver next to Dr. Dre in his MySpace friends list, so you have to love it.
