OMG Metric IS A REALLY COOL GREAT BAND!!!…..wow 1# on every thing thats soooo BIG!!! omg….i never thought that without a major record label a band could grow sooo much!!!guess it not really about that !!!!is it?? its all about make ing MUSIC!!!! and real music and thats all they needed to grow!!! Ethics, Style, and Motivation…Exactly. Sigh, Money. Money to start a label, get a BA, if I wanted to start a LLC- maybe a lawyer (or time to read more about it) and all the usual things that come along with maintaining gear and putting out albums… If I compare it that way, its about the same. In my mind, its like winning the lottery (getting signed) versus having a salary job I got going through college. Those seem like unreachable things to those in poverty. So you could say I’m working my way up as a low level employee. Doing everyone’s job for them until my potential is realized. ;C)

As a Canadian, I have to say that I loved seeing Metric on your blog! Metric is a fantastic band; I don’t want to do them the disservice of calling them “indie darlings,” but they really do have quite the following. I applaud their success.

In unrelated news, it was cool to see Trent Reznor tweet about the Canadian documentary Anvil. It’s nice to see our impact south of the border.

Mike, you just gave me hope man. It’s good to know you can work with music even you’re not under a major record deal! Oh yea, I’ve listened to them before and they’re pretty good. I didn’t know they were unsigned.

That’s the way it’ll take. The most interesting question for me is, how will it influence the style and quality of music when every artist has to market oneself in the future. How will it sound like, the sound of self-responsibility?
These guys here sound rather radio capable.
