Banksy

June 12, 2009

Say what you want about the guy; the only thing I’ll say is that I wish I was in Bristol right now. Where else do you think we got the idea for this album cover?

Maybe Banksy will read your praise and come to see you at Sonisphere in return?

I think his style of art worked well with you guys in the early days, a nice collab.😄

  3. saralouise16 on June 18, 2009 at 11:45 am

Yes it is very cool, and nice for once that it is not in London. Might be able to go, only a ways up the road….

  4. Madlen on June 16, 2009 at 6:07 am

    Omg that’s soo cool:DEspecially the old Tweety…:D

  5. noahk on June 15, 2009 at 4:19 pm

Hey Mike, I am a huge fan of LP, as well as banksy. Are you the artist behind the LP image? [http://noahkameyer.net]

  6. Wisteria on June 15, 2009 at 5:23 am

One day I’ll see Banksy’s stuff up close and personal, have followed him for years. His rats will always be my favorite, and the stunt he pulled with Paris’s album will never fail to make me laugh. Hard. Interesting about Hybrid Theory. As soon as you said it I could see it, but never really saw it before. Thanks for sharing!

  7. analoggirl on June 14, 2009 at 9:11 pm

I’d really love to see this exhibit. The promo looks incredible and I know that Banksy will not disappoint. (Although, I’m a bit curious; if the Bristol Museum turned itself over to Banksy, is it still considered culture jamming?)

Also, I didn’t know that Banky was the inspiration for Hybrid Theory. That’s pretty interesting. I love learning about your influences.

Lastly, I’d like to mention two things that are off-topic… Please tell Brad that he delivered a great keynote address at UCLA. Who knew he’d be such a ham? lol Kudos to him for stepping up.
And, because I’m curious, what are your thoughts on Trent Rezor’s anti-Twitter rant? (http://forum.nin.com/bb/read.php?9,731489)

  8. LinkinPaul on June 14, 2009 at 2:15 pm

Mike…I don’t know what to say. I am from Bristol my self, and know that Banksy is known world wide. To learn that you were inspired by his work for the Hybrid Theory album cover is astonishing!! Linkin Park have a link to my home city!! How amazing is that!!? You both should have an art exhibition here in Bristol! Even if it just a mini-exhibition! Please, please come to Bristol, I would love to meet you! Oh, and bring the rest of the band with you!

  13. rockermeg on June 14, 2009 at 2:31 am

    Um no kidding?
This guy is a legend… I’m heading down to Bristol to check out the show.
Apparently he breaks into animal enclosures in zoos and writes stuffs on the walls. Like in a penguin enclosure at London Zoo he wrote, “We’re bored of fish” 🙂
Woah I didn’t know that was where you got the Hybrid Soldier from!
Banksy was the first street artist I ever really got into… you see his work everywhere; in London especially.
    Yeeeeah Mike come to England😀
    xxx

  34. ThePrincess on June 13, 2009 at 5:00 am

I like the way he convey a message with a unique art .. pretty amazing !! ..anyway my family has a house at Elton Road not so far from Bristol’s City Museum if you there .. did you want to stop over🙂 ( I said IF ! .. ) well thanks for sharing daddy and have a nice weekend !!

  35. George on June 13, 2009 at 4:58 am

holy shit you mean you got the idea for the HT cover off banksy???

fucking epic!! why did it never occur to me before this?!

you guys should seriously consider getting him onstage with you sometime. the image of banksy spray-painting a figure on a massive canvas while you guys are performing a reanimation classic (like hi voltage?) is the stuff wet dreams are made of.

throw your old fans a bone😉

p.s. new divide video is fucking TIGHT. Australia out.

  36. _MiHaRu_ on June 13, 2009 at 4:50 am

  37. PrincessbyDawn on June 13, 2009 at 4:09 am

wow amazing!! Its insane and provocative, like it touchs us without any kind of ‘respect’, without to ask if we are ready! Pretty cool, intelligent and rich…this guy has a very open eye to see and transform in a modern and deep way. Looove it so bad, wish I could see that. Thanks for to share Shinoda, bring more like that to us, pleaseeee hehe….btw, check out (if you don’t know yet) Dave Mckean’s art (http://www.mckean-art.co.uk/), he is an english artist too, works with a huge work mixing images and textures, he is awesome! I even got one tattoo with one of his works.
    Love, Pat

  41. pat on June 13, 2009 at 1:37 am

HI Mike Loved the video, I know that many people do not like that kind of art but since he is a true artist is! And I love his work ..
anyway on HT Ahaha I agree with mikenLP_4ever think the fans miss your hair blue / red (it was like a cute alien, without offense, I love alien: P), the chester with hair: D (this is chester a problem with hair is that it is always without hair: S), I know it is part of the past but may at times be good back to the past, I do not know, I like you anyway
    LP 4 EVER

  51. lp_fm_fan on June 12, 2009 at 10:14 pm

Very cool. I actually saw someone with great talent with the spray can in South America (the people in the plaza) sooo amazing, very cheap too, I got a dolphin one, I still have it to this day and it’s framed. The only issue was bringing it from South America TO Texas, lol. So many planes and I had to carry it around so it wouldn’t get bent. Lol, anyway I wish I could see it too…the Tweety Bird was interesting…haha.

  52. mike_n_LP_4ever on June 12, 2009 at 10:03 pm

Cool . My friend is really good with spraypainting, and one time, she spraypainted the Hybrid Theory soldier on a city bus here in south Florida . I actually havent seen that bus in while…its been like…2 years . lol Ah…the HT days…I miss them . Frat Party at the Pankake Festival…<3 . Chester's lip peircing and blonde spikey hair, your sexy blue/red hair, Brad with…not much hair . lol But oh well ! That wuz the past !🙂 Blah ! Sorry ! Buzzed away from the topic with memories.😛 He's pretty cool…the ice cream truck looks like it got burnd or caught on fire(?), and then the ice cream on top melted .😛
