You rock man.

Totally incredible pieces. I’ve been thinking about printing a picture of one of your paintings on a t-shirt and I was wondering is it legal? Will you get mad? I really love your paintings and your painting on a t-shirt would be awesome! I hope I’ll get your answer cause if you don’t like my idea I won’t do it. After all it’s your painting.

Really good job!
Though… I spotted a pretty big mistake with the Cobain picture… you do know he played a lefty strata right? That one seems to be a regular right-handed one :/

Can´t believe that i don´t just love your music, i also love your art.

Wow, Mike, lovely work! Just when I though you were at a peak with your last show, you amaze again with this show! I really wish I could come and visit it in person but I just leave across the country…too expensive. But you inspire me a great deal. I hope to someday have a gallery to show off some my work. I look forward to your chat with us, LPUers, on Friday!

These pieces are amazing, and it looks like you put a lot more time/effort into the exhibit (which completely paid off). I wish I could’ve made the opening, but I’ve been kind of busy this week. Maybe I’ll make it closing day though; feels more appropriate anyhow to see GLXS Dies the day it ends… =) Take care hun.
MaoChouChan on September 2, 2009 at 1:41 pm
Hey Mike. I know that this is kind of off-topic, but I just have to write this to you because it really bothers me. I’m very involved into LP fanart, and there have been lots of art stealers around the LPN recently. Usually they just re-upload the files and contacting them or a mod often solves the problem, but a few days ago I discovered a really mean case of stealing. Someone made a sketched copy of one of my pieces and took it to a MnG and is showing off with it now. Since I’m limited here, please read my latest blog post about it on mao.linklinpark.com. Please, I know youre quite busy, but maybe you can people make realize what they do. Thank you so much.
PS: GLXS is just awesome!=3
Lauren on September 2, 2009 at 12:10 pm
Thank you so much Mike
I live in Northern Ireland, I would never have been able to get over to LA (as much as I want to!!)

Your stuff is so unique, I absolutly adore it
Oyakodon is my second favourite piece of your art, and I love what you done with it for GLXS DIES.
I also love how you have a lot of pink
I do miss your other little characters though, I’d love to see them again
Strawberries is my all time, favourite piece of art.
Seriously man, keep up the AMAZING work that you do…
Peace,
- Lauren xx

Thank you, Mike! I live in Russia and I haven’t a possibility to attend at your art show=( It’s great paintings!
For a long time I wanted to say: “cranium with the image of dollars” – it was dreamed to me last year, just as that picture (even these colors)! I was in shock when I saw that painting on your page! It’s reality! Sorry for my bad english.
By the way, we congratulate heartily you on your and Anna’s first-born!=) We don’t understand how did you manage to keep Otis from paparazzi’s flashes?)) He doesn’t look so little…he looks 6 months… Anaway we are glad that!!! And we wish your family happiness!!!=)

Thanks so much for the photos! Since the official ones are up I think I can write my thoughts on the show. Mike, you went crazy on this one! I mean, there’s so much stuff – not just paintings but also a casket instalation, huge tabloid walls with those great looking kind of palps, “Goodbye” piece, motorcycle, entrance wall, remix, video. Everything looks incredible, you can include your voice in all kind of media. My favourite painting is The Good Life, 1 probably a little more than 2 and Memento Immortalis. I love how you paint roses, petals, butterflies, LOVE the colours! Fireworks is great, 2 reminds me of 3D movie style. Still amazing backgrounds and spray paint effects. Nice birds!
Lobby on September 2, 2009 at 9:25 am
Hawt, I like the chicks, really nicely done.
By the way, your Fort Minor song, is it “Cigarette” or “Cigarettes”? This question has been haunting me for days..

.
lucky_cat on September 2, 2009 at 9:09 am
Thanks a lot for the photo tour! Spontaneously I have to say “Fireworks 2″ is my favorite, it leaves a deep impression on me. Also I love the “Four Seasons” as an imagery for the circle of life in pop culture, which obviously often finds a violent and sudden end. Once again you did an awesome job! I’m looking forward for more …
antje on September 2, 2009 at 8:49 am
Hi Mike…thank you for sharing. I really love your art. It’s incredible and a great insperation.

Flatterers
Mike is able to make much better job than that. I believe that he’ll find enough time to make a real art. More emotional, more passionate, talking to viewer about himself personally not about others.
I would like to see what he feels being celebrity not how it looks like from outside..
More personal feelings please Mr. Shinoda! I would like to see an art which will hit me stright into the heart!
Pleasant game of light and shadow in Neuphoria is not enough!
And once again:
Sketch For Four Seasons is quite good – symbolic with interesting background
Goodbye makes me almost hear screaming of death but it’s still almost
the rest stays silent…

Thanks so much for the virtual tour Mike
. Of course i would prefer to see the exhibition in real. Just for see all the details on the painting, maybe one day, who knows ? Ok, so my favourites painting are : “Oyakodon 2″, “The Good Life 1″, “Fireworks 1″ and all the “Four Seasons’s” collection. I like the “Tabloid Wall” too, this room seems very impressionnant with all these breaks of newspapers. I imagine “Gold Guns Girls” remix, when you enter in this room, i don’t know why, but i imagine very well. And to finish, “Neuphoria” is my wallpaper on my macbook, it’s really good & original. Have a good day Mr. Shinoda.

The pictures do not even begin to do the artwork justice….so much more impactful in person!
P.S. and by the way, Mike, I have come to the conclusion that YOU are to blame for invoking my morbid curiousity about Phoenix’s Twitter page. I could actually hear about a hundred of my brain cells screaming in agonizing pain before fizzling out as I read his Bella and McDonald’s coffee tweets. Thanks, buddy.
analoggirl on September 1, 2009 at 9:24 pm
It’s interesting that the colour palate in “Goodbye” reverts to the more vibrant hues. More importantly, the cherubs share the face of your skull figure. Are WE the cherubs that are granting him immortality through martyrdom? Will we live on in HIS image – to live the same life of excess? With gossip tentacles reaching out near the exit, the cycle of celebrity and excess begins anew. Pretty deep, Shinoda. Man, I’d love to be back in that Q&A with you. lol

I live in İstanbul so I won’t get to see the exibition but even from computer screen your art expresses a lot. It’s obvious that you put lots of thought on it. It’s great! Keep up the good work.

I so love the colors you use. I wish I was there.
Thank you so much for showing your art to the poor people who can’t go to the artshow!

Nice Show Mike, keep up the good work….
But if i will, i noticed something wrong in the “Four Seasons: Summer (Cobain)” one…. cobain was a lefty, he used a lefty guitar…..
but its all good….its not about detail, its about the content of the art
i like the content in all of them

Thanks for the pics, Mike. I must say that I absolutely LOVE the Four Seasons series and Momento Immortalis. They’re all great. I wish I could see it in person.

Thanks for this partial virtual tour! I can’t wait for the other pics.
Looks A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
I pre-ordered the book yesterday…(and I can’t seem to find that one comment that I did…I think you hid the post again, lol). But yeah I asked my parents if I could order it and they were all “I’m sure it’s SOMETHING to do with Mike, right?” I laughed so hard….but they did let me get it!
and the only reason they said your name was because I’ve been talking about wishing to go to LA to see your art show, lmao.
Oh I hope you and your family (LP family, too) are all well! I saw the news about the fire in LA, is there really like fire tornadoes? I saw that and…I was like wtf?

I am having a hard time figuring out how he died… Your art is usually more direct… I feel like you rushed through this a little bit. Does the four seasons of Dean, Cobain, Lennon and Warhol, represent the death of musicians? It’s confusing to me, cause while Cobain died of an overdose, Lennon was murdered. It’s not giving me any clues to how the character died. Or are we not supposed to know? Maybe it’s because I’m a good decade younger than you… that I don’t get it. I love it dearly, so don’t get me wrong about that at all. Especially how you played with so many bright colors this time.

Aha, i love ur laugh-face.
i really wish i could’ve been there. This show looks better than the first show. The Tabloid Wall and the John Lennon painting look friggen awesome too. It would be so awesome if i could buy the Icon 2(SELLOUT!) painting or the Fireworks 2. I love all the paintings.
