I really wanted to see the film again but the link is broken. So if you could do sth to fix this, it would be great.

  7. Lynnie on October 2, 2009 at 12:57 pm

I’m late on this, I know.
I’m glad I watched that video… it really made me think. I always had the naive view of ‘if a person becomes a celebrity, aren’t they kind of asking for the attention?’
Yet, now I am wondering how much they want and how much is forced upon them. I have more sympathy for these people and, thinking now, I wonder how much of their lifestyle is caused by the unwanted/negative behaviours of others.
I’m curious to know… how is it for you? I mean you’re A-List celebs and all, yet we don’t see you getting THAT MUCH attention, like many other celebs. Is that right, or…what? And how do you guys deal with it?
    ~
    Have a nice day.

wow!so you think Michael Jackson died because of his glorious excess right?i think so!i hope that if he weren’t a world-wide famous singer,he would be living now!

you are the appropriate person for this art show!i mean ,even other famous artists can’t make this kind of art show in a true way!because you are the one who knows what famous people do,feel when they are in excess glory! thanks for the video!i think i totally understand your art show now!=)

  9. zahra on September 27, 2009 at 6:14 am

I gotta say I’m trully amazed by GLXS. Not just the Art Show, but everything it represents and how much it means to you. The video is really interesting and MJ and Diana’s deaths are great examples of how crazy the “celebrity world” is. Glad you put them on the film.

Well, I don’t have anything left to say, I guess. I REALLY liked the film and would love to be in LA right now. You should bring the GLXS Art Show to Brazil! People here are crazy about the American celebrities.

    Take care Mike.

  11. JeezyJazz on September 25, 2009 at 7:29 pm

Hey Mike, really nice video, i loved it (eventhough i didn’t understand everything xD). I think the video has a message,i think it’d be like: Stop being a douchebag, get a life, contribute to the society and the echosystem…..Or something like that xD.

By the way,i’ve gotta ask you something i’d like you to respond: How much interested are you on making contracts for bands with Machine Shop Recordings? Cuz i wanna start a band with a friend in Argentina, so if God wants, i’ll be moving out to Argentina as soon as i end my senior year, and i’d like to get a contract from Machine Shop Recordings……Hope you answer my question man, really need a respond.

  13. Zara on September 25, 2009 at 2:45 pm

Thanks for posting that Mike, loved watching it, very thought provoking and ties in so great with GLXS. It interested me when the Starline guide was saying how upset she got about Princess Di, in England we’re always saying “oh the Americans love Diana” and we dont get why people in the US seem to have loved her so much. I was little when she died too and it didn’t really bother me, other than a thought for her sons and family, but I havent thought about it since (except when the tabloids ram it down our throats on anniversarys). Anywho I love watching interviews with you talking about your art, at mikeshinodaclan.co.nr we found the billboard and fuse ones, have you done anymore?

  14. Madlen on September 25, 2009 at 1:14 pm

Thank you for posting that:)It wraps up the shows really nice.I’ve already said that before but I’m truly amazed by your work:)You have a real gift and I hope we’ll get to see a lot more projects in the future. These shows are just one of a kind thing for me because it’s so different to see the celebrity culture through the eyes of a celebrity. And not just a celebrity but a person that fully understands this world with it’s ups and downs.

Gr8 work on the short film Mike & Mark!!The hard work definitly paid off. I even FWD the short film to some of my co workers since they mostly talk & look @ gossip sites & news. Da short film was real good on blending in da comments from the papz 2 showing celeberties. My fave is wen you took the star tour & got a prospective from da tourists view. The question I hav is I kno every celeberty have diff. levels of attractin papz & fans that are CRAZY & can be pretty rude but wat kind of level do you & LP think you have on being followed or stalked by fans, papz, or even both?
I just like to point out dat I’m glad I don’t see any of u on E! news or gossip mags. Take care!

  22. Lori on September 25, 2009 at 3:38 am

really glad you posted the video, was hoping to see it. i’m still kind of on the fence with the whole paparazzi thing. i think it depends who the celebrity is – some crave the attention of being photographed everyday, to others it’s harrassment. we live in a society where magazines publish so much informaion that the masses believe without any proof. i think for all the untrue stories, it must be frustrating for the genuine. i dont feel slightly sorry for the famous for being famous socialites who thrive ob being part of the rumours just so their face can be on the cover of heat magazine.

    Hey Mike, Ken-chan!!
i respect your creativity so much and linkin park is my favorite band.

i make music. but these days it doesn’t work out.
i am japanese and that makes my music more melodic even if i have been listened not japanese music but foreign ones (us, uk…) willingly.
do you think yourself been influenced something cos you are related to japan?
i cannot explain well, but i don’t like Japanese music somewhat.

    how do you think?

p.s. if you can, please check out my music.

No offense I think there is little oddity on this site coz I see ppl here are more interested to other topics than the subject itself and it confuses me whether I should be commenting about this film or make a comments to other people comments and I also saw a lot of MS’s great commentators who disappeared or delete their comments coz they don’t want to be in this ‘ immature & goof off ‘ situation .. and I thought I would do the same thing until all this madness ends !!

  27. lpok on September 24, 2009 at 7:35 pm

Hey it would be so cool if in your new album you can make another song that is like “Qwerty” or “Given Up”. Are you guys thinking of making another song that sounds like “Qwerty” or “Given Up”?

The short was well done. I was lucky enough to get into the VERY LAST Showing of the night during the signing/opening of your show. Living in Hollywood but not being a part of Hollywood, it touched on a lot that I’ve seen and probably will continue to see. Nicely done the both of you.

  34. ShadowerLiltani on September 24, 2009 at 12:17 pm

That film was very, very well directed. Gave me a better understanding of the show, because as I said before, I couldn’t quite figure out how the character died. I think it’s rather fitting, to have the guy be self destructive, since out of all the destructives, that’s the worst, in my opinion. Attacking someone else is one thing, but you know someone has some serious issues when they attack themselves. It does amaze me though, when a celebrity who dies, who is a stranger to us, we cry like hell. I cried when Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes died, cause she’s a human being. Most people I’m sure are upset because they know their idol is gone, and I find that almost selfish.

Hey Mike while in hot ass L.A. i stopped by and visited the JANM yesterday. Im doing a paper for my art class and my only question is… what was the intention/meaning behind Memento Immortalis? I would greatly appreiciate a response myspace.com/anton45 R.I.P Michael Jackson

Hey! Great film! But I want to recomment you a little vid, too! It was at Tuesday with your buddy Jay-Z at a german TV-show, which calls “TV TOTAL”. (LP was at 2007 there) He sings in honor of the huge “Oktoberfest” here in Germany traditional german folk music. He didn’t know anything about it and he had to improvise. Very funny! Hope you like it! :D regards from good old Germany! Leo

This awe short film is reminded me of the phrase ‘the higher a tree , the harder wind blows , because envy is a sign of inability.. so let the dogs barking , it will not affect anything ‘ ( I’m Talking abt paparazzi of course LOL ! )

Note : Mark Fiore , seems very familiar name , if I’m not mistaken he was a cartoonist right ?

Very Entertaining, Good job dude !!
    on random ,
Sometimes ppl is always wrong in interpreting the word Private , Prohibited , Not for Public Consumption or even Member Only !! .. they continue to find out through google or youtube which actually makes them look suck , when there is a lot of easier and classy way to find out the celeb news , for example make a contact with the owner , sign up and Become a member Then taa daa .. they will get what they want without becoming a fucking fake person or stupidhead bully !!

  42. TheParanoid on September 24, 2009 at 6:01 am

I saw it yesterday and like it very much. The music is great as well. I’m always impressed that you can put your voice in all kind of media!

  46. drumasta on September 24, 2009 at 4:27 am

    Mike
I think you did an incredible job putting on this art show. As I do not live in LA or near LA, I could not view it but all of the images and films you have put on your page have assisted in letting me see what I can.
I think the best person to have represented this theme was a ‘celebrity’ himself. Mike, you have pulled it off superbly.
To see you draw inspiration from the media’s deviant ways and delve into the world to find out more and represent this in an art show is a fantastic idea. Well done Mike.
Also, congratulations on the impressive remix of Metric’s Gold Guns Girls (:

I really liked the short film, it made me think abt some things…

but so see you drawing really inspired me to start painting again on canvas and not an walls, like I used to the last weeks..(besides that I got a lot of money for that, I just want to draw something for my own again). I also really want to visit your art show, but I just don’t have the money to get to America :D But someday, I will ;)
Thanks for sharing this video with us :)

  54. Elliot_aka_MC_Eli on September 23, 2009 at 9:43 pm

Nice, seeing this makes me hate the paparazzi more and more. Yet the celebrities use them for fame lol. It’s a whole twisted thing.

P.s Seeing these videos makes me think you should post videos of you guys in the studio. Look at how Circa Survive does it http://www.youtube.com/user/circasurvive their vids are tight. And they don’t reveal too much. I think lp is a tad more secretive than that should be…

  55. Manongross on September 23, 2009 at 8:32 pm

It shows exactly what we fans do sometimes unintentionally. For example if I stands on the street like you were there in the video, sure I would approach me and ask for an autograph or a picture, but we often forget that you are human, also has a “life” and want their privacy. This world is complicated.
    Anyway, your work is wonderful.
I hope you do not stop singing so early, because in my financial situation will take a while until I can go on his show, and still want to go.
You are my inspiration when I play my guitar, any day I post a picture of her.
I hope you read my comment, if you read all …
    Later.
    Jorge.

Hi Mike, thank you so much for sharing this video; this is great film…

These tourists looks so funny, really. ‘Cause it seems like they photographed smth like Big Ben or Statue of Liberty – not celeb’s houses… And paparazzis so exicted… That’s crazy…

  59. analoggirl on September 23, 2009 at 6:48 pm

Kudos to you and Mark Fiore for producing a thought-provoking film. (Even after all of his hard work, you had Mark working the camera at the GLXS gala opening – shame on you! ha)

The film stands on its own, but it’s a great companion piece to GLXS (Dies). When I walked through the gallery, it was easy to be a voyeur, to experience celebrity through the lens of the paparazzi. However, when I viewed the film, I re-examined my role in celebrity culture. Do MY actions contribute to these celebrity life cycles? It was an unsettling thought, but maybe that was the point.

Lastly, I like the WeMix song at the end. GLXS was a seamless mix of paintings/installations/film/music. Congrats.
