Congratulations! That’s super duper exciting. I can’t wait to see pictures of it. You know what you should do.. you should record a video-blog or podcast or whatever tickles your fancy and let all your readers know the process you generally go with when you create art. Or what inspires you.
I’m an art student and I’m just now figuring out that it’s a process, haha. Typically I just create. So it would be really enlightening to hear from you about how you make your art.
If it already exists and I’m an idiot, please don’t refrain from telling me so.
Or maybe just send a link. That’d be nice. Haha

I know Adam Wallacavage’s older brother Mike (that’s his name, not directed towards you) Adam does these crazy sea sculpture chandeliers, and other interesting pieces. He also does amazing photography, I wonder what he’ll be showing.

Dope painting by the way, the one character looks like the LP soldier, just more cartoony, graph style.

congrats it’s coming out very nicely!! but ughhh mike, i’m already heading into the city on the 14th to see DBS. now if it was the 15th i’d definitely be there haha. but i might just make it down there, since i never got to see your other art shows… probably the only reason i could dislike new york, since the east side>west side. 🙂 but who knows! might just be in chelsea for this on the 24th 🙂

Is the concept of the show about putting on canvas the way you perceive yourself? I think this might be interesting. The piece looks very interesting so far. I love the colors.

  18. swati_LPfreak on September 29, 2009 at 10:48 pm

Mike, Pls read my own LP rhyme…
=There’s gotta be A PLACE FOR MY HEAD ‘cz i came CRAWLING and BY MYSELF to gain fame.
=Its not to be FORGOTTEN that i’d GIVEN UP and it wasn’t EASIER TO RUN, so i’d FAINT…
=There was NOBODY LISTENING and i was ONE STEP CLOSER to the SHADOW OF THE DAY.
=Realised too late that LITTLE THINGS GIVE YOU AWAY…
=Feeling broken, IN PIECES and NUMB.
    =It takes a PART OF ME, i can’t STEP UP…
=Now it came time to LEAVE OUT ALL THE REST.
=I realised that WHAT I’VE DONE is the best…
=I know I’m SOMEWHERE I BELONG, may be PARANOID, may be I’m wrong…
=I’m surprised how WE MADE IT when IN THE END i was WITH YOU.
=There was no more LYING FROM YOU !

  19. aussieChazz on September 29, 2009 at 9:44 pm

  20. ShimizuAiko on September 29, 2009 at 9:39 pm

Aww .. my first comment ( I apologize if my English suck, lol ) ok here we go, a very good job Kenji-san , although the painting was still in the progress , I like the beautiful colors , but the pic of that floating Goddess with the boys in front and the fish next to her , makes me shudder, very mysterious !!

PS: I hope LP will return to Japan next year , 素敵な一日を過ごす !!

  21. abbykulyde on September 29, 2009 at 9:04 pm

i luv the way you mix those colors mike! (they are my fave combi) btw, since this is for the “True Self” show, seems that it somehow reflects the true MS.. the signature skulls still present..

    congrats!

    ♥abby

  24. ShadowerLiltani on September 29, 2009 at 5:09 pm

Welcome back to New England Mike, haven’t seen you out here since PR Hartford ’08. I love your characters, the aviator dude that looks like he’s about to reach out and poke someone, is my fave. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I might be able to go to this show, if transportation permits. I could bribe it as a late birthday present to somebody… Edit: Forgot to ask, are you going to be at the opening?

  25. jeffryLP on September 29, 2009 at 4:46 pm

My admiration to you dude, for these cool piece , You’ve a unique way of describing yourself , totally creative and full of imagination !

  26. soyuneik on September 29, 2009 at 4:34 pm

oOH I love this one. What sorts of brushes do you use for the outlines? I had to take pins to paint mine and it sucked. I like that drippy guy with his mouth open and the robocapsule guy in the top right. (lol and of course the skull guys) I just have one question. Where are the toys? ;”C(

  27. Manongross on September 29, 2009 at 4:22 pm
