Response to Comments-LP Album

November 24, 2009

M: We wrote roughly 150 demos for MTM because we were at a point where we were redefining how we approached writing a song. We were breaking down rigid, preconceived ideas about how our band “should” sound…we had to experiment with a lot of crazy stuff in order to figure out what the album should sound like. At the end of the process, we all felt like we had pushed outside our comfort zones quite a bit, and we were happy about the new frontiers the process had opened up. I think we’re now at a place where there are far fewer boundaries or barriers, and the perspective of the past few years has given us an intense creative momentum, so fewer demos are getting the job done. Quality, not quantity; I don’t think we’ll need to write that many demos to know that the album is ready.

Posted by spraypaintNinkpens – I guess we really shouldn’t expect an album in 2010 because you take forever to release a 12 track cd. I wish you’d release a cd faster than 3-4 years because everyone is going to inevitably start to make people lose interest in the band. Lockjaw was made in a day and it’s a stellar track.

M: Thanks for the nice comment about “Lockjaw.” I am writing these updates to assure you that what we’ve said about putting music out more quickly is our intention, 100%. It is my firm belief that the album will be out in 2010. As for the “3-4 year” comment: we’ve been saying that for about 6 months. In that short time, here is the new music that has come from our camp: “New Divide,” “Lockjaw,” my “Gold Guns Girls” remix, my Julien-K remix, my track for Apathy called “Shoot First,” and an entire DBS album. Some are more mainstream things, others are meant for various levels of underground fans. We already have other related ideas (“Across The Line” on the LPU9 CD for example) on deck before the next album comes. Then, after the next album, we hope to continue to create and release music faster than we have in the past (3-4 years between studio albums is obviously a long time). The bottom line is: we’re trying to be in the studio more than ever, making great stuff that is Linkin Park quality. We LIVE in the studio now.

Posted by Rotten – Couldn’t you give us more info on your upcoming album please? Like how it’s gonna sound, mainly hip hop or rock? Is it gonna be experimental as MTM was? Anyway, i’m confident about the quality since you never disappointed us but i’m afraid you’ll be producing an album just because you have to…

M: I’ve been rapping a bit more, Joe has been a little more present, and together we’re also doing a lot with the beats. Again, you never know what can happen: we can make 50 songs with rapping, and if the 10 that don’t have rapping get picked by the band for the album, then any comment I may have made about rapping is null and void! But we have never produced an album because “we had to,” it’s all about where the band is at creatively, at the time. Hybrid Theory and Meteora were a time of defining a sound, MTM was a time of destroying that and branching out in many directions. This new album, so far, is a redefinition.

Posted by pepper – THANK YOU for the album update Mike!! We kept tweeting Phi for an update, but no go. I guess you are the better man =P (haha as if there was any doubt) Lol I’m so excited to hear about the long songs and that you guys are going through your usual thorough process for selecting the songs for the album. Stay focused and keep rocking on my brothers, I’m so stoked for this album and what 2010 holds for LP!

*M: Yes Pepper, I am your friend and Phoenix is ignoring you. He is evil, I am good.

Thanks for the good words…we’ll do our best to make this album great, for you and everyone who is down with the band.*

    Hello Mike πŸ™‚
Wow I see that the pressure is huge but you know I have some advice to you and your friends of the LP but I think that it’s hard to make. Simply work on new record as long time as you need and don’t pay attention on people which can’t understand your stress and effort. I think that the longer the better, particularly to you guys. I’m almost sure that your new CD will be great but remember, take care also of yourselves, ok?

    P. S
    You live in studio now…Aha…
    Remember, frequently air it ;DDD

    Take Care

  8. LINKINBETTY on November 27, 2009 at 2:14 pm

hey Mike I heard “Across the Line” and it’s awesome, but why didn’t you add to Mintues to Midnight?

  9. WidyaRahayu on November 27, 2009 at 8:35 am

My emotion breaks reading this blog, means.. i’m crying right now.. I came to a memory a time in 2003 when i wanted to kill myself but i didn’t because of God and.. EASIER TO RUN played in my mind. Got a new energy, i started to draw you guys, felt so relief..finally i got ‘friends’ who could understand me when i listen to LP songs and drawing along with it. Dream after dream, higher hopes in each work. LP becomes a part of my real life.

  10. Reenzy on November 27, 2009 at 4:19 am

The upcoming album will be amazing, just like all the LP ones before.. I’m sure you guys CAN’T make a mess. Your music is great.. just like you all… =) Can’t wait to hear the new songs.. but if you want to do something really well, it takes time.. 3 years difference isnt that long if the result is awesome!

  11. AP on November 26, 2009 at 9:05 pm

    You rapping again..??
You know what, you make me happy again..
Cause you were the best emcee ever in my life..
I really hope that the new record [which gonna be released next year] will feature a lots of rapping..
And one more things, why dont Brad add more guitar solo in each of the song that you’ve created..
Guitar solois reaslly important in every song..
Just like “The Little Things” and “In Pieces”..
That was a great job done by Brad..
Anyway, wish you guys the best of luck..
    : )

  21. petiterocker on November 25, 2009 at 1:48 pm

I’m really looking forward to the album, and especially now that I’ve gotten the LPU9.0 tracks and heared Across the Line I can’t wait. It was such a good song! Wished it was on Minutes, because amongst the fans so far, there’s a concensus; this song rocks our socks. And could you please convince Rob to do more of his awsome more detail oriented drumming?

  22. ribbe on November 25, 2009 at 12:32 pm

I just have a question abuot MTM and the song No Roads Left: I have heard some roomers about this song, that you just can’t sing it because your voice isn’t good enough and that you has changed your voice in the studio. I just wonder if this roomers are thruth. And why didn’t the song make the album. I want some answers soon!

  23. Madlen on November 25, 2009 at 12:02 pm

Even though I would like to hear the album as soon as possible (like the next 2 minutes) I don’t want to rush you guys cause the creative process should not be interrupted…anyways I love Across The Line:)And Fear,Drum Song and all the songs…it’s really amazing to see how the songs evolved…it’s so cool!

  24. ConnerL on November 25, 2009 at 11:37 am

    Hey Mike!
I’m listening to LPU09 right now, and it’s amazing!
I hope you’re making great progress on the new album.
I’m really excited to hear it!
I have two questions for you.
One, will this album include the “old” Linkin Park sound (i.e. Hybrid Theory, Meteora) or the “MTM” Linkin Park sound?
either way, I think it’ll be really good.
Two, are you coming to Grand Rapids, Michigan anytime soon? πŸ™‚

  25. nemi on November 25, 2009 at 11:36 am

i am sooo excited about the new album!! πŸ˜€ i love the updates about the new album!! πŸ˜€ keep rocking the studio, we look forward to the new album, Mike !! πŸ™‚ and the Mike vs. Phoenix fight is pretty hillarious ^^ dont give in, Mike! πŸ˜‰

  26. LpJapanme on November 25, 2009 at 11:27 am

ohh mna!! im so excited! a couple of days ago i realized i was actually nostalgic of your music. i mean i ha been listening strictly linkin park only fot .. i dunno four years? then i kinda satrted opening my views of music.. and kinda faded the lp craze alittle.. but u guys always reamined my favourite band. too bad i dont have the money:( i would have been an lpu er. man i really need some inspiration so i can wirte.. ur music is really my inspirtion! well i hope we fans have something new to listen too. my opinion.. ur just taking the good out of every album and making i into fusion with some spice.. i hope it will be a great dish:)

  27. ReflectionistBaz on November 25, 2009 at 10:56 am

I hope the tenth anniversary of LPU will have a cd with more demos/exclusives. I’m so done with this live bs. How many versions of breaking the habit live do we really need to have?

  28. LPfan_mar on November 25, 2009 at 10:55 am

MIKE vs PHOENIX — Fight! Fight! Fight! — PS: After war, send a video to all LPfans with that… I would like see that fight!
One more thing: ”Across the line” is really good… Why didn’t you put that in MTM album? ah, and your new home (studio), that’s ok”’ With guitars and drumsticks you can put Phoenix KO”” ahah (-: sorry for my mistakes πŸ™‚

  29. dzilla on November 25, 2009 at 10:44 am

Any idea when the album will come out? I heard that before June 2010. I hope sooner.

  30. Elliot_aka_MC_Eli on November 25, 2009 at 10:25 am

I have a question with your recording methods. So, since your HT to MTM recording method changed… did your MTM to w’e your next ablum change? Cause we all noticed in the MTM era that you guys just “don na na na” through a demo/seed just to get an idea.. are you sticking with that?

  31. WolfRaptor on November 25, 2009 at 10:19 am

I love how everyone’s trying to over-analyze your “In the Studio” posts to find out exactly what they want to hear. You’re great at giving noncommittal responses that keep everyone on the edge of their seats…you’re rapping “a bit” more, Joe’s “a little more” present, but none of it may actually end up on the album. Nice. If that ends up being the case, any chance you guys will hold on to the rapping tracks for some ultra-amazing LPU 10 anniversary package?

Also loving the part about “redefinition”. A redefinition of what? Your previous defined sound in HT and Meteora? Your new directions in MTM? Some crazy combination of both (my personal favorite)? Ah, whatever it is, I can’t wait!

  32. Angi220 on November 25, 2009 at 10:16 am

Mike, I really like those words you put for LP’s albums, “defining…. destroying and branching out…..a redefinition”, It’s just brilliant, brilliant as your music~~~~

  33. Curiosa on November 25, 2009 at 8:50 am

“We LIVE n the studio now” ReallY? I’d like 2 c proof of that! πŸ˜› lol Weren’t u the 1 Phi caught playin video games on his iPhone? πŸ™‚ lol “He is evil, I am good.” LOL This really made me LOL! Sorry Mike still not buyin it. I think its the other way around. πŸ˜› lol Poor Phi, every1 gets on him 4 not replyin 2 them & I’ve yet 2 hear them complain about Chaz or u not replying 2 them on twitter. =/ People need 2 remember he’s only there cause of a bet & I think he’s doin a good job so far. Interacting w/fans on the web has always been ur job Mike not his so he’s still learning. πŸ™‚ “who is down w/the band” ??? I thought it was about the music? Thanks 4 the info. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. πŸ™‚

  34. Charlotte_Jay on November 25, 2009 at 8:41 am

Thank you for answering our questions know, there’re 2 problems that we, LP fans have: our expectation are so high of you and we’re impatient, we expect greater LP songs with a new album and we want you to release it fast! and that’s your own fault because you’ve made your job harder with your great music! I understand how hard you guys are working on the new album and I know Linkin Park releases albums fo the sake of making good music for fans not because they have to, so that might take a longer time and that’s what makes an album perfect (yes perfect) I can say though I’m so excited for the new album but I can wait patiently.Thank you all for you awesome job πŸ™‚

  35. STINGER_LP on November 25, 2009 at 7:53 am

Thanks Mike for the another great update. You’re definitely the best band’s speaker =)
Listen, i was reading this post and remembering what you said before and ended up with a thought. Previously you said that this new album will be conceptual and that with this album LP will invent a new music genre or something like that… I don’t know whether you on that road right now or not, but if you’re i have no doubt that all will end up like you said. But here is a question: Don’t you afraid that you guys can pass ahead of a time? I mean you can come up with a great album but people won’t understand it, ‘cos “this” came up too early and few of us are ready for this… I hope you’ll read this.

  36. Dronnington on November 25, 2009 at 7:41 am

Good info Mike. Nice to read about your working) You rap a bit more,it is awesome, but realy what about your singing?you shouldn’t to bury your great voice.

  37. Lori2blue on November 25, 2009 at 7:20 am

Thanks for the info! It’s incredible how much time and patience you have for the fans… This is why I (we) don’t mind the waiting… About the new album; I understand that on MTM you wanted to “destroy” your sound and branch out but I hope that “redefinition” in a way means coming back to your roots. I’m so glad that Mr.Hahn is back, and hope that your rapping will make the album ( the way your rapping and Chester’s voice intertwined on the first two albums was simply amazing I really missed it)..
ANYWAY, just take your time and make us proud!

  38. RhinestoneX on November 25, 2009 at 7:01 am

As LP and Fort Minor fans go, some may spend fortunes to get hands on demos and unreleased songs… I am one of those πŸ˜› hehe and I think every single LP song made so far are awesome, even demo songs.

LP underground is a great opportunity for people to buy those unreleased songs but sadly LPU packages have 6 songs max. It would be awesome if more demo and unreleased songs are released to the public. LP is LP, and Linkin Park is one of a kind. There would be millions and millions of people that would buy something like “Linking Park : 150 Demos for M2M” at $50

That’s like hours of songs for $50. What a bargain!

  39. Heydy on November 25, 2009 at 6:13 am

Hi Mike! Thanks for the info about the new album! πŸ™‚ I have been really looking forward to that! Hope the album will be out in 2010… Oh, by the way, happy Thanks Giving for tomorrow! πŸ™‚ Don’t eat too much turkey! πŸ˜›

  40. Tom_SynNergy on November 25, 2009 at 6:04 am

Come on guys! You can’t just push Mike and the guys into making music. They also have lives, they are also human. They’ve got families and they do need some rest and sleep. The music isn’t going to get created by itself but it takes some time. Mike, thank you for the update and information about the new album! Also thank you for this “Response to Comments”.

  41. Leconte on November 25, 2009 at 5:28 am

Mike, your updates are really informative!! Looking back on it, my first LP music was ‘What I’ve Done’. That is, I’ve traced LP albums back to the origin, ‘M2M’ β†’’Meteora’β†’ ‘Hybrid Theory’ for these 2 and a half years. So 2010 will be a special year ’cause I can go with the tide at last πŸ™‚ Keep up the good work guys, and I wish you luck!!

  42. Marie14 on November 25, 2009 at 4:32 am

πŸ˜€ we’ll see what dave say about that
but yeah…u’re good and pheonix is evil πŸ˜€
I’m looking so foreward to the new album…i really hope there are gonna be more rapping songs =)
BTW: across the line rocks!…will you play it live someday?…but my favorite one is fearβ™₯ really!…its incredible!

  43. JanV13 on November 25, 2009 at 4:04 am

Haha! I loved the dig at Phoenix! And besides, is far much cooler than Twitter! Why ask anything there? All updates come here first.
Mike, don’t ever worry about fans losing interest in the band, ’cause those that drift away were never tied firmly in the first place! In day-to-day language, real LP fans will never leave the band’s side, and I think many will agree with me on this.
    Cheers to the new album~!

  44. swati_lprocks on November 25, 2009 at 4:01 am

Hey Mike!!… those were AWESOME responses (as usual)!!!
First of all, THANKS A LOT for the update & there’s no doubt in our mind as regards to the “quality” of the songs in the album!.. By the way, isn’t the name decided yet??
    KUDOS! swati

  45. Jo_o8 on November 25, 2009 at 3:54 am

Just to quote you Mike “*Yes Pepper, I am your friend and Phoenix is ignoring you. He is evil, I am good.”, that was funny.
Anyway thanks for the detailed responses. And yeh like some other ppl have said here, it doesn’t matter how long it takes to make an album, its about how good the end result is so i am willing to wait. A dedicated LP fan will not lose interest just because they had to wait a bit longer for an album release date.

So are we expecting an album that has a little of both HT & Meteora stuff and MTM?? guess that way everyones happy!

PS: ninguem, thats jus rude to both Mike AND 50 Cent. Respect to both! Mike, ur vocals wer amazing on those songs:)

i think fans are being too impatient. i mean im jus as excited! but, u need time to do ur best. u hav other stuff to do wether if its art, puttin out new songs or jus spendin time with ur family. And Chester? like u said urself, he JUS had an entire album out.. giv him a break ppl! as much as i want this album out asap, i think we gotta be more patient! its DEFINATELY goin to pay off, im sure!

n tanx for d replies. it means alot to us. u RULE Mike!!! πŸ™‚

thanks once again for this good update mike ! well to be honest i don’t mind an album from you guys once 3-4 years as long as you guys yourselves, we guys at the lpu and the whole world says ‘Linkin Park has done it once again topping the charts and giving a 10/10 heart breaking and mind blowing album’ πŸ™‚
well ya something once a while like new divide and lockjaw is expected though πŸ˜›

Definitely , and its easy if a great artist have time to update his blog, the making of a new album is usual stuff
Hey Mike i had a question if you ever get a eye on this post please comment
how you guys made Bleed it out (the video) i mean did they had a special camera rig which they can repeat the same motion at same speed , so first they shot the crowd and then you guys.
i am pretty happy with tracklist of LPU9
    Specially with “Japan & Fear”
Ta na na naa naa naa na
Da na na naa naa naa na
    Keep it up mike

Is the new album gonna have a “Making of ___” DVD like MTM and Meteora?

  58. Blackout4500X on November 24, 2009 at 10:01 pm

I love how Mike keeps the fans updated! That’s what’s up! Lol.I am stoked Mike for the new album. I love every song you guys have made and truly love that you guys try new things. M2M wasn’t liked by some people that I know but when we go cruising I blare it in the car ALL THE TIME and now they are addicted to LP! They say that the music grows on you and miss the days in the summer when I would blare it all the time lol The new album is going to be more than epic and the day you announce the release date I am going to be counting the days and won’t be able to sleep until I have it and have listened to it! God Bless.

I have no idea what happened, I just know something happened. Whatever it was, I’m not worried about it. But if I offended someone? I apologize. …that said. You know you liked Super Poo man! Isn’t he awesome. πŸ˜„ He’s the coolest EVER!!!
‘Inevitably lose interest in the band?’ Hmm… everyone? Nah, there are different types. For instance, I’ll be around till LPs all old, wrinkled, and crusty….they’ll be wearing knitted sweaters with pom poms on them, or some sporty duck vests. Hahaha
Point is, the loyal fan isn’t going anywhere.

  61. TheDarkness on November 24, 2009 at 7:31 pm

Mike would you consider doing a short interview for the fansite “The Linkin Park Projekt” if so hit me up at Keep the epicness coming my brother! Oh yeah, why the hell didnt you sing Leave Out All The Rest? Sounds so much better than Chester.

  62. abbykulyde on November 24, 2009 at 7:22 pm

  68. PinkyLouloulp on November 24, 2009 at 6:19 pm

I have a question. Actually I have two, but I’m saving the other one for your chat. πŸ˜› Rumor has it that you won’t be touring on 2010. Are you going to tour this summer or you are going to wait until the album’s out, which means winter?

Btw, I’m pretty confident the new album is gonna sound freaking incredible!

  69. vampki55 on November 24, 2009 at 6:02 pm

wow im glad u referred to the lpu9 (since i’m not part of the LPU therfore i don’t get the privelged i would’ve never been aware about that awesome across the line song i was truly blown away the lyrics are so intense and relatable like all ur guys songs are but it just left me speechless kind of like when i first listened to meteora back when i was 13 anyways its nice to know that u comment back =]

  71. spraypaintNinkpens on November 24, 2009 at 5:45 pm

Thanks for answering my rant in such a professional manner Mike. Sometimes as fans we just get frustrated with waiting because we absolutely love EVERYTHING you put out! The lpu9 cd is amazing( the faint demo particularly in how your lines flow so well also fear’s chorus is so deep) and I really can’t wait til your next studio album. Good luck in the studio, we all support you 100%.Thank you for making all of the music you do.

  74. Senzaikyuu on November 24, 2009 at 5:28 pm

Can you give us a clue about album’s artwork and cover?I hope it’s something like Meteora stuff which ,to be honest, was one of the best things i have seen.

  75. The_Black_Hawk on November 24, 2009 at 4:51 pm

I wonder what kind of a creature is this album gonna be?!
BTW I was watchin “Remember The Name” video for the fifth time & I just noticed that Chester, Brad & Rob are there in it, but they are kinda background! I searched again but couldn’t find phoenix & Joe…but I saw Holly Brook instead!
It’s becoming a serious question: WHY AM I ALWAYS OFF-TOPIC?!!!!!!!!!!!

  76. RicoRodz on November 24, 2009 at 4:28 pm

I’m glad to hear has a lot of progress for the upcoming album, and I really hope there will be more rapping ( Yeah , I was so affected by your first album HT ) . and speaking abt pepper comment , yeah No doubt , you’re a good man dude πŸ˜‰ thanks for the update !!

  78. Metal_Value on November 24, 2009 at 4:26 pm

When I compare LP and various other current bands in terms of time periods between albums I see bands that have released their debut album in say 2006, new one in 2008 and another due in 2010 whereas LP’s was 2000, 2003, 2007 and now 2010 which is only 4 albums in the space of almost 10 years of recording under a recording contract. I also believe the backlash of LPU8 was fueled from this issue of having large gaps of time between new studio albums, for many fans the content on the LPU8 CD just didn’t seem satisfying enough for the length of time we have to wait between each new studio album. I find LP fans have to generally wait longer for new material as opposed to fans for other bands.

  79. WookieBastard on November 24, 2009 at 4:25 pm

moar design contests! for lpumbers and non-lpumbers alike. How about a contest to design a page of the booklet for the next album? No prize, just your design to be part of the booklet should be more than enough.

  80. ArtMakesMe on November 24, 2009 at 3:50 pm

oh…thank god there’s going to be more of joe hahn…..i started too think that he is dead !! πŸ˜€ btw….thanks for the replies mike…Greetz from Aruba.. πŸ˜€

  81. YourConscience on November 24, 2009 at 3:43 pm

I just want to say that I’m glad Joe will be more present in the upcoming album; I missed him with Minutes to Midnight… Anyhow, thanks for the update. =) P.S. Would you please ask Rob if he’ll accompany me to my brother’s wedding next year (if you’re not on tour, of course)? smiles hopefully Haha. Take care, guys.

  82. Lvix on November 24, 2009 at 3:37 pm

I think I have a great plan! Everyone who doesn’t have Twitter doesn’t have to do because Twitter anyway sucks. But everyone who has twitter can tweet to Phoenix: “You’re evil! Mike is good.” (What will happen if he gets more then 500 tweets like that?) Maybe he will stop fingering, i mean twittering. Who’s in? Are you Mike? :p Maybe my plan isn’t evil enough. :p Greetz from Belgium, Lode

  83. liope on November 24, 2009 at 3:35 pm

I want to say something on what spraypaintNinkpens said..for me it goes like this: the longer it takes for an artist to make an album, the better it should sound! So i can wait as long as it takes but i will expect a lot from it! Besides if you make an album every 1 year you would run out of ideas..i suppose πŸ˜› You have to let things saturate before you move on. And i don’t lose my interest..actually i believe the opposite! No matter how hardcore fan you are you need to take a break!( for just a little bit)
I hope my ideas are not so far from yours! πŸ˜› Wish you the best for the new album! Take you time, we will always be there for you! πŸ˜‰

  84. Eddie on November 24, 2009 at 3:33 pm

I love it man when you reply to us, your fans!!!!! I’m very excited with what I read!!!! I hope the album be released in 2010 and hope all of your fans, worldwide, have the opportunity to see you, live, performing it!!!! Thanks for the replies Mike!!! πŸ™‚ PS: I’m SO EXCITED reading this ” Joe has been a little more present”!!!!! Hope for some songs with fucking awesome breakdowns, just like “New Divide’s”, with Mr. Hahn’s hands doing ‘gold’ stuff on the samplers and turntables!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2nd PS: “Yes Pepper, I am your friend and Phoenix is ignoring you. He is evil, I am good.” HAHAHAHAHHHA!!! Greetings from Greece!!!

  85. PasDidio on November 24, 2009 at 3:15 pm

hey, everybody ! dont be so anxious with the new album release date! give them the time they need to create something brilliant! answering our queations on should be enough so far ! i know its hard but im sure you’re stick it out =)

  86. Ruben on November 24, 2009 at 3:04 pm

I apologize I sound like a smartass, I’m a big fan but I just wanted to say this: While you’re making songs and arrangements, do you already think of how to play them live? Like if Chester’s singing more melodies at the same time on CD, it might be hard to do that live. It would be fantastic if you’re doing more with the instruments, like the piano and guitar, in stead of samples. Sometimes a song has to be good before adding all bells and whistles.
Great to hear more different chords per song, like the way you did in TLTGYA(amazing). Also an odd time signature would be very cool, like a 5/4 wich can sound very naturally ( Wind by Akeboshi, Mission Impossible theme by Lalo Schifrin)

  87. Anstice on November 24, 2009 at 2:38 pm

Hey Mike =) I was wondering what the process is when you guys snip away all the finished songs or promising demos until you have the final 12-track cut for an album. I understand that some songs will inherently have more success than others, with specific wording, melodies, and whatnot; but what is the real process? The only reason I ask this is because of “Across the Line.” For the most part of what I’ve been seeing in the way of comments from other LPUers, the song has pretty much been an overnight success; and I can’t see why it wasn’t released with MTM. I know you guys almost definitely can’t anticipate the success of a song on your own. I was just wondering…

  88. dutchsoldier on November 24, 2009 at 2:16 pm

Still high on Across The Line!!! So waiting for the new album is a bit more bearable πŸ™‚ . The updates on the album also help a lot though, so keep that up like the way it’s turning out now…

“Thanks for the good words…we’ll do our best to make this album great, for you and everyone who is down with the band.”
    Mike..thanks for sharing, but eh…. we know you will πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜‰

  90. KATHYxx on November 24, 2009 at 2:11 pm

Everyone’s aware on how hard you guys work. Though I think you guys judge yourselves too harshly. I know you guys are aiming for100% perfect, which is great, though your quick songs are still really good. Many are fantastic, and a lot of times, like Qwerty, the first rough performance is the best one. You’re probably right in thinking most of those 150 seeds aren’t worth putting out there for millions of people internationally to judge, but amongst your own fans, we’d love to hear anything from you, even if they’re not up to your high standards. We already love you guys and feel bad not seeing the ideas that get thrown away. Thanks for putting the demos on LPU 9.

  91. victoria on November 24, 2009 at 2:01 pm

lol Go Team Blog/ Shinoda!!! πŸ˜› hey mike, could you tell us something about you’re future art projects? have you got something new in mind? keep on updating about your new ideas please. Thank you too about the info of the new cd, can’t wait to hear it! kss from spain πŸ˜‰

  92. ShadowerLiltani on November 24, 2009 at 2:00 pm

Well, that just gave me a little more insight into what’s going on with the new album. I am still curious about the album art, or are you going to keep that a surprise? And, as a note to what happened in the blog entry regarding people being called names and fighting over personal business: Commenting on Mike’s blog is a privilege, not a right. Mike has given us the option to respond to what he writes here because he respects us just that much. If you can’t respect each other, and if you can’t respect Mike, then he might take that option away. I get that most of the people on here are teenagers, but your immaturity doesn’t give you license to belittle perfectly good human beings.

  93. Rotten on November 24, 2009 at 1:59 pm

    Thanks for these answers Mike

  94. navee on November 24, 2009 at 1:25 pm

actually the “joe track” as we can call it that was present in meteora and hybrid theory when mtm came out and didnt hear it there i was like wtf?! sounds interisting that thing of making the songs longer, is going to be awesome, cant wait. I got a tragic story here, hope you read it and comment about it, even when probably im not the first person who this happen to, well most of my music i hear it (used to) in my car, last friday my car was open, with no stereo in, and the worst of all, ALL MY CDS WERENT THERE NO MORE, my fort minor and the one that hurt me the most ALL MY LP RECORDS, all kinds of cds that got 2ghter over the years, feels like crap, ps. they left the DBS 1

  95. pepper on November 24, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Thanks for answering my comment and the others Mike! And yes, you are most certainly a better friend then phoenix, ill tell him that next time I see you guys on tour lol. Team blog vs. Team twitter, I could see this turning into the next Team Jacob/Team Edward LOL jk. But yeah, thanks again and keep working hard πŸ™‚

  96. MMASIS on November 24, 2009 at 1:19 pm

Hey, i’m really wating for the new album, i’m a producer and i started making music becouse of LP, i loved MTM but i missed that unique style LP has, the distortion drums, hip hop style, and you’re rapping Mike, there wass’nt enough, that’s 1 of the reassons i love LP thats you’re signature, the Hahn scratching, please bring that Hybird Theory sound, but new. I know you can, and the music really needs this back, please if you read this, could you reply? I’m in the process of making my own album to, inspired by you. Thanks for never letting me down.

  97. Morinoajin on November 24, 2009 at 1:11 pm

    Joe’s more present HELL YEAH!!!!!!
I mean I really missed Joe’s part; I’ve only heard him like in Hybrid Theory;; although I can always hear him in the back and all πŸ™‚ But I really can’t wait for the album!

  98. Senia on November 24, 2009 at 1:02 pm

thank you so much for this! πŸ™‚ makes the time waiting much more bearable hahah πŸ™‚ true, a lot has happened, ‘new-material’-wise (i think i just made up a new word… :P) new divide was really big and chester’s album as well. the remix of metrics ‘ggg’ and the apathy single were a bit more underground, if you’re asking me (in terms of not really linkin park…) but what’s certain, you haven’t really been ‘lazy’ πŸ™‚ hahah
after submitting this, i’m going to listen to accross the line πŸ˜€ take care! πŸ˜›

  99. miKer0cks on November 24, 2009 at 12:44 pm

The things I love the most about these responses are “Quality, not quantity” (that’s what I call Linkin Park), “We LIVE in the studio now.” and the more rapping on the album! Seriously I believe that this record is gonna be the best ever! I don’t know why, it just feels like it. Maybe it’s the amount of work you’ve put on this one and the dedication (not that you didn’t in the previous albums). As for Phi, I’ll agree with Pepper! He’s ingoring us. It’s not his thing to communicate with fans that much πŸ˜› Thank God we have you! You’re always keeping us updated πŸ™‚ Thx a lot, you’re the best with no doubt πŸ˜‰

PS. LPU9 is amazing! I love it! You should sing more often πŸ™‚ can’t wait to get it

  100. Marco on November 24, 2009 at 12:44 pm

i’ve been seeing and hearing alot about how active the band is right now. EX: Chesters DBS album, Mikes Remixes, and Mike and Joe’s DC remix shoe. but i havnt seen anything or heard of anything lately that invloves the entire band besides working on the new album. im just wondering how mentally stable the band is as a whole. i don’t want the greatest thing in so many peoples lives including mine to suddenly end. too much of that has happened in the past for really stupid reasons. so do you guys think that you can maybe post a letter or a vid on or on the LP website that involves the whole band talking, reassuring the fans, or just plain being yourselves? : )

  101. lovableFreak on November 24, 2009 at 12:43 pm

‘Hybrid Theory and Meteora were a time of defining a sound, MTM was a time of destroying that[…]This new album, so far, is a redefinition’ well said, mike! that’s a great summary… since everybody below already said that, i don’t need to echo, that it doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as the music is awesome. and there’s no question about, that it WILL be awesome!! my experiences from being an LP-fan tell me that… πŸ™‚ thanks again for keeping us updated. i hope nobody takes that for granted… i really appreciate it. last but not least my comment to Across The Line: simply amazing! it’s a sound i never expected, but thank you so much for releasing it!! take care, mike. πŸ™‚

  102. xxAnnaSxx on November 24, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Thank you for your awesome responses! Shows you really care about your fans and try to keep us updated (: (I really enjoy that, phe always just replies on the most stupid tweets and although I’m already trying to be as dumb as possible he still seems to refuse to
A question: It sounds a little bit like you aren’t that much convinced of M2M anymore. How come? I really liked it especially ’cause you guys showed you have differnet styles of music that you can realize genuinely..that’s at least what I think…and to my mind it’s something very special, never seen a band that really was able to convince me with everything they did! Thx for that (:

  103. EvaBennoda on November 24, 2009 at 12:34 pm

Hey Mike !!! Thnx the update !
I listened to the songs-demos of the LPU9…! I liked so much Across The Line..! I wonder why u didn’t put it in the album (Minutes To Midnight)! It’s such a nice song and it has the same vibe with some other songs of the album ! As far as A.06 is concerned…Why do u make it as a song ??? This demo is amazing ! I’m sure that it could have been a great song ! My opinion…;) Fear=AMAZING ! Plz Mike,Sing MORE!!! Ur voice takes me away ! It is divine ❀ I Love it…! The "Sad" Demo is cool…I love the drum part…! Figure.09…it still have the vibe of the song but there r many changes as well that make it sound different!U did a great job =) Well Done xD

  104. Fatima91MS on November 24, 2009 at 12:33 pm

    you guys just the best!
Thank you Mike for this great post & good answers!
I can’t wait for new album…with more rapping from u, Mike!
Good luck in the studio ❀

  105. Justbiteme9 on November 24, 2009 at 12:24 pm

I just have to say that I love what you do… ALWAYS… and I’m more than eager to wait for the release even if it takes 5 years (ok, don’t take that long please). I’ll be waiting patiently. BTW… yesterday I was talking with a friend we were wondering if there would be another Fort Minor album someday?

And yes!!! Phoenix is mean, he never answer.

  106. jwbes on November 24, 2009 at 12:16 pm

You guys are perfectionists, and I can’t speak for everyone else, but I’d rather wait 3-4 years for another great album than have mediocre new music pumped out every half year or so. It will be cool to see the more electronic elements from songs like New Divide paired up with some rap and screaming from Chester. I can’t wait for this album, but I will because it will be worth it.

  107. linkinparc on November 24, 2009 at 12:14 pm

    Okay first comment yay:

Thanks for this update mike, I just wanted to give you a quick shout about LPU9.
Im sure you already know that it has been leaked and all I want to tell you is:

this is definately one of the best LPUCD’s ever!

Fear: the lyrics are really deep and impressive, I also really enjoy your rap on this one: if you could do that same kind of rap on the new album, that would be sweet az!

Across the line: this is such a new style! It was a good decision not to feature the song on MTM but a even better one to release it as a LPU CD! i love it

and please take all the time you need! we dont want you to be tired and without at home =)
