Random notes, End of 2009

December 30, 2009

I’ve been gone for a minute, with the holidays and everything. Funny–I came back and there are some buggy things going on with mikeshinoda.com’s comments, RSS, and backend. Sorry if it’s messing things up for you–I’m working on some fixes soon.

Among other things, I got a Nord Electro 3 for Christmas. I can’t wait to start using it…we’re moving on from the last batch of songs (5) to a new batch. I don’t know what songs will be in the new batch. We have about 15 contenders, with some brand new gems that I worked on with Chester and Brad. The first LP studio meeting of 2010 is next Monday, so we’ll vote on it then.

On another note, I hope you’re getting your New Year’s Eve plans together. I never really make plans, and I end up doing whatever comes up, last minute. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not…but once again, I have no idea what I’ll be up to.

BTW, here’s a better clip of the Medvedev interview. I know I was late on it. I forgot to post it because I was drunk on egg nog.

Medvedev gives Linkin Park a shout out

December 29, 2009

Russian President Medvedev Sums Up the Year, from www.theotherrussia.com:

In the spirit of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s annual marathon question and answer sessions, President Dmitri Medvedev sat down on December 24 with the heads of Russia’s three state television channels for an interview entitled “Results of the Year with the President.” Over the course of eighty minutes, Medvedev answered questions concerning disputed regional elections, Garry Kasparov and the political opposition, an “evil” judicial system, and admitted that he listens to Linkin Park.

Youtube Doubler

December 20, 2009

This is beta, so I don’t know if it’s going to kill the formatting on my blog…but here goes…
mike

EDIT: The video on the right is a goat. Apparently, he’s an Usher fan.

EDIT 2:
The video was killing my formatting, plus it was on auto-play, which I didn’t love. But it was funny as hell. To watch or use the YouTube doubler, go here:

The Anti Gift

December 13, 2009

Those who live in LA know about holiday traffic here: in December, people totally forget all rules of the road, and finding a parking spot turns into some kind of bloodthirsty free-for-all. Add a little rain on top of that (LA natives are notoriously horrible at driving in rain), and holiday shopping becomes a health hazard. If not for the fact that online shopping gifts would arrive too late for the holidays, I’d have nearly no reason to leave my house. Anyway, that’s LA traffic right now. The other night, I went to a holiday party at The Phoenix’s house. With traffic, the drive was about 3.5 hours (maybe more, I had to go to my happy place in my head in order to make the drive bearable, so I don’t know exactly how long I was on the road.

On the way, I made a grave error in judgement: I stopped and got Taco Bell drive-thru.

My holiday gift to you, dear reader, is an anti-gift. It’s what not to give, and what not to get, for the holidays: food poisoning. Probiotics and Pedialyte is no way to spend a weekend.
