Response to Comment: LP album in 2010

February 4, 2010

Comment by Matthew (w/ many similar comments) – “theres a news article in mtv saying you guys pushed the release date back to the end of the year! i dont expect an album release for early 2011.. thats another four years. Thats a real bummer because you guys said you would try to release albums more faster”
Dear Matthew and others,
I appreciate your concern. I have two comments, to help give you some insight into our process. First, we don’t know when the album is coming out; we are recording constantly and doing everything we can to make a great record (ready for release in 2010). We have some new, special ideas for this release, and those ideas have delayed it slightly–but not into 2011.

Secondly, I said we’d “release music more often,” not “albums”โ€ฆbetween the DBS record, “New Divide,” “Not Alone,” the tracks I’ve done with other artists (Metric, Lupe, Kenna, Cypress Hill, Apathy, etc.), the iPhone game and song, and any other unforeseen things that might happen before the album release, I think we’ve proven that statement to be very true.

when will the new album will be out? any time soon?

  2. Murray Jr. on May 5, 2010 at 11:24 am

Mike, you guys are the reason why I gave other types of music a chance. I listen to one of your albums so get my creative juices going while I write. Hybrid Theory is my favorite album it was the first one I got, hell when I opened it up on Christmas morning I popped it in my cd player and was gone to the world the whole day. I love everyone of your cds and all of your songs. I can’t wait until the new one drops. Keep up all of the great work and I’ll be with you guys every step of the way.

  3. Javkhlan on April 4, 2010 at 12:47 am

I know that you are busy making the new album and stuff but, uh, where’s Fort Minor ? cuz’ you haven’t made any new singles/albums since 2006/07 or so, so will you be workin’ on a new single after all these hard times ??

  5. Ninoshka on February 17, 2010 at 8:25 am

1 Question Mike, I Heard Numb Backmasking, And The Part, When You Are Singing Says Like “The Worst Tonight Is Just The Worst Tonight”, And A Complete Song, Do You Guys, Do 2 Songs In 1 Track?

  6. panos on February 15, 2010 at 5:00 pm

  7. Feyza on February 14, 2010 at 6:18 am

I’m waiting for the new album and I’m listening the old songs for now. I can see you are working on it. If it’s necessary take your time. But I only think how will Chester join you? I know he said he is working both of his bands.I’m not asking for accusing. Because Chester will be on tour with dead by sunrise to the end of feburary. Maybe it will continue. So I’m a little confused. Isn’t it gonna be difficult. Please can you explain it?

  8. andreea on February 13, 2010 at 3:01 pm

I trust u guys…I know I’m going to love the album, no matter when it will be released…I got a good feeling about this ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Mike! I’m a fan from Argentina and I don’t speak english very well but I try to do it. I’m really feel identify with the lyrics, and rythm is the best
I love your music but the last album wasnยดt what I expect from the band, it isnยดt a critic, it is an oponion of a fan who love your music. I expect songs like the old songs, the conbination of the metal and the DJ was exelent, the Nรผ Metal what you did before was exelent! But, I like the last album, many song are very very great, and I love the soundtrack of tranformers! I congratulate to worry for the people in Haiti and all wath you do for these people. I hope you come to Argentina soon, a lot of fans are waiting for Linkin Park!

  13. Aud on February 11, 2010 at 9:43 am

i completely agree with you, mike. you guys take as much time you need for the album, because it’s the quality that counts! while it is a long time to wait i think it is worth it and all of the other thing you have put out – new divide, not alone, the game – helps pass the time. you guys also spend time keeping in touch with your fans, which i really appreciate!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!(or shall i say, perthday?)

  14. Mike Allan on February 11, 2010 at 6:40 am

Thanks for the post Mike. It’s pretty cool that you can keep in touch with us about what’s going on with everything especially seeing as how famous you guys are. I can’t wait for the album, it sounds like it will be great. Also, has there been any talk lately about projekt revolution 2010?

great to hear that your working on your new album, i was also wondering if yoiur still with fort minor, if anything new for that is coming along. i was wondering what you meant by the album release may be delayed because of the new stuff your putting in the music, if it takes longer to produce, i hope you guys well in 2010 im a huge fan! keep up the good work, Mike!

  22. Say: Ooh! on February 9, 2010 at 11:25 am

First of all a big hello from Spain.
I liked the way you compare your new album with maths. And… if it isn’t any problem, could you tell me (mike) if the new album’s gonna be like Hybrid Theory?
To conclude, i would like to say that LP prompted me to create a band called “Daybreak” and i hope to see you guys on the next grammy awards!
    Thanks a lot!

eso es todo saludos desde ARGENTINA.

  25. Jolan Huyvaert on February 8, 2010 at 10:47 pm

Is “New divide” going to be on the new LP album or does it stand apart from it?

  26. Steph on February 8, 2010 at 3:57 pm

2010 is 2010, but I can’t say I’m not disappointed with the push of the date. I guess if you’re still in the studio than you won’t be on the road for a summer tour? I sincerely hoped for a Projekt Rev Tour this year with a brand new album release so I can enjoy the greatness of the new songs live. too bad. I’ll just be ready for next summer – gives me longer to recover from my expectant baby boy in April anyways.

Mike, you’re awesome…Your Arguments are great and I understand, when there is some new stuff to put in the album, I can wait:D But not too long;D
I hope the album will be a Remix with M2M and Meteora, HT was brilliant, but now you guys have all these types of technique, so do sth. with it;)
Hoply there will come some new FM Stuff in 2011…The Rising Tied and We Mayor were awesome:) Maybe I write too much, but I gotta tell you that xD
Today in school, we had to decide, who is the best Rapper in your eyes with the best text…And I have chosen you with Carousel and A Place For My Head;)
Please do some texts like you did in the Beginning in Hybrid Theory-Era and not LP-Era.

Hi Mike! 22 years old student from France, fan since ITE.

Take your time with the band. All your projects deserve time as ablums, tracks, art show… you make great job so take your time. The Earth doesn’t stop running if the new LP album doesn’t come out before this summer.

But indeed we really want to listen new tracks ;-). Thanks for keeping us in touch!

I’m a 22 year old guy from Norway, i have been listening to your songs since In The End came out as a single… you & co has been my favorite band ever since then, you brought me into the metal scene, got me into playing guitar…
can’t wait for the new album to come, don’t worry, i am patient ๐Ÿ˜›

but i have one simple question…
Are you guys going to license more music to be released on Rock Band in the near future? i want more than just One Step Closer, hehe…

Hope i will get an answer, love you guys..

Hi Mike. How r u these days? Today I remembered the Reanimation album and so I watched some of the songs.Mostly IntheEnd + Forgotten. And I just felt really bad, cause this style is lost now. Where is this style u had Mike? I understand that u have to keep up with u guys growing older and that u can’t still do the same things, wear the same clothes. I really miss that. I’m really really looking forward to hear that old of urs style u had in the new album. At least at some point. I believe most of us want this to happen. Also on stage, I (and I believe not only me) want to see more heat, energy. Jumping up and down making faces. Uh, Texas Live was the best. Any comments on that, Mike? Thx.

  39. Tom on February 7, 2010 at 2:01 pm

    Hey Mike!
“Big concern”…I went to the LP show in Stuttgart, Germany back in `09 (awesome – by the way!) and purchased the download link for the show. The thing is: There’s some kind of failure in “Leave out all the rest” which means I get to hear a weird mash-up of Breaking the habit and Leave out all the rest cause it jumps from one song to another…forth and back…secondwise. Have you heard about that before or is it just my copy of the show? And is there anything I can do about it? =/

Didn’t know where else to post it, so I just thought why not try it here?!
I’m looking forward to your next record! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  41. Vari on February 7, 2010 at 11:07 am

First time, when i’ve heard Linkin Park – Papercut (it was a time between Hybrid Theory and Meteora so 2002) i said: Sh*t! This is so f*cking amazing! The lyrics are so great, finnaly i’ve found great band. And that’s why im saying this: Thank you Mike,Thank you Chazz, Thank you Brad,Thank you Phoenix, Thank you Joe and Thank you Rob! You’ve made my life better! Your music is like Bible for me! Keep it goin’! LOVE YOU GUYS! (Sorry for my english,I’m from Czech Republic)

  42. cincybmxlpfreak on February 7, 2010 at 9:22 am

Good. That’s a great answer, Mike. Everyone was worrying about you guys putting out ALBUMS faster, but I would HATE for you guys to rush your creative and recording process for an ALBUM. It’s best to have the album be top quality and what you guys have created to the best of your abilities. To me, actually, it doesn’t feel like that long since Minutes To Midnight came out. Also, I think it’s cool that you guys are trying to put out more Linkin Park material as the fans are waiting for a new album to drop. It definitely does help to keep fans interested. Do you guys have any ideas for album titles yet, or are you still not to that point?

  43. Joshua Long (SELA) on February 7, 2010 at 6:32 am

Hey Mike. hows the recording going? deadlines in music never seem to get met for me. The song is finished when its done. My band did a song this week that took 2 days and all we need is vocals and yesterday me and Dave(vox) finally finished a demo for a new song that had been in the works for over a year. so I understand how this music takes time. And i rather you guys put out quality over quantity.

question. i saw the making of not alone. Is Brad really that critical when it comes to his comments?

  44. JoannaMarinova on February 7, 2010 at 5:31 am

You should totally make a record like this one here :

  46. Andrew on February 6, 2010 at 10:32 pm

    Hey Mike,

Long time reader, first time commenter. Thanks for the updates, just one thing I wanted to ask you about that’s not really album related. Listening to the Download to Donate songs, it was obvious you did a great job with Lupe Fiasco. You’ve worked with him in the past, whether it be with Fort Minor or producing a song or two off one of his albums. Have you two ever thought of making a collaboration album together, or even a single? Both Linkin Park and Lupe Fiasco have new albums coming out, and I think his lyrics would flow really well over your guys’ instrumentals, or visa-versa. Just throwing that out there. Thanks again.

  47. Archerazor on February 6, 2010 at 9:34 pm

hey Mike, even if the album is not ready for this year, it’s fine. the LPU 9.0 was good enough to keep me excited for this 2010. Anyway, keep on going. You know that AC/DC is still singing, so time is not a problem,ha

  48. Illara on February 6, 2010 at 9:20 pm

We all will be looking forward to it, Mike. Take the time all you need, because the process is tough. At the end of the day, its the songs that the fans would love to play the songs on computer, radio, iPod, etc.. etc..

  49. Steven on February 6, 2010 at 8:12 pm

Mike, I am not angry that the album is now supposed to be released in late 2010. If longer time means a better quality album, so be it. However, it better come out in 2010, not 2011. You guys have produced on every album. Songs such as In the end, Numb (my favorite), Somewhere i belong, what Iโ€™ve done, and Shadow of the Day. I am confident the new album will produce songs of this quality. I am hopeful that this album will incorporate not just sounds from Minutes to Midnight, but also sounds of Hybrid Theory and Meteora. The style of meteora and hybrid theory should not be forgotten. I am looking forward to a new album, and expect it to be great. Just be linkin park.

  52. TheGlueLpFan on February 6, 2010 at 6:15 pm

I’m going to lie if I say I’m not sad about the album being delayed but after all I love the fact that you want to make a great record, not just a record.I love every single Linkin Park song that’s out there and I’m convinced that it will stay that way.So I’m reading to wait as long as I have to.Thank you for being the light at the end of the tunnel btw:)I remembered today all the great things you did for me so thank you!And btw if you respond to my comment even with one letter I’ll be really hyper about it:)

  54. Jo_o8 on February 6, 2010 at 1:12 pm

Do people honestly think its that easy to write and put an album together? I’m no musician but I’m pretty sure it’s involves a lot of time and hard work. So I think LP fans should stop complaining and wait patiently like a true fan is meant to. Take all the time you need to produce a great album.

  55. Vinicius Gomes on February 6, 2010 at 12:16 pm

  56. Cystlib on February 6, 2010 at 10:36 am

    Hey Mike,
Take all the time you need to make it a great album. Everything you touch turns to gold!

I’m just very curious what bands/genres inspire you (Linkin Park). Other Nu-Metal bands (like Deftones), Grunge (Nirvana), post-grunge (Foo Fighters, Seether), punk-rock (Ramones), hardcore punk (Rise Against), post-hardcore (Thrice), alternetive metal (Breaking Benjamin), progressive metal (Tool), progressive rock (30 Seconds to Mars), post-rock (Explosions in the Sky), rockmetal (Bullet for my Valentine), pop-rock (Radiohead), hard-rock (Led Zeppelin, Three Days Grace), rapcore (Rage Against the Machine), raprock, heavy-metal (Metellica), hiphop? Or bands outside rock, metal and hiphop?

  57. Linkinsteve on February 6, 2010 at 9:50 am

Can’t wait for the new album Mike look forward to hearing it!

  58. zaneroks94 on February 6, 2010 at 9:17 am

gotta say mike…i believe your best albums and songs were because you had something great to base it off of [an inspiration]. I loved your album meteora and i read that you guys were inspired by the meteora rock formations. and new divide is also a great song because u based it off of Transformers. Hybrid theory was cuz of ur inspiration of ur uniqueness and sounds. I think u guys should take ur time and find some real inspiration tat’ll realy propel u to write a great album. I think if u really find that right inspiration it’ll be great.

p.s. i personally would love a futuristic sound album like New divide and LOATR remix ๐Ÿ˜€

Can I point out The Beatles wrote 10 albums in 6 years with singles/ in between. This prooves great music can be made even whilst touring (I know they stopped in 1966, but you would if noone was listening to you and just screaming)

  68. Victor R on February 5, 2010 at 7:35 pm

People expect many things from Linkin Park because our passion is fueled for more. These guys are like no other, and i can only wish to experience such a feeling that these guys must have in performing in front of so many caring and passionate fans and making music that has their hard work. M2M took a while and it was worth it because these guys produced GEM songs that we will keep jamming to til we are near our demise. Its been a while but as we look at the past, LP never fails. Whatever is in the Next CD is surely gonna impact my life and others as well. I just really want to see LP again Live so damn badly, Im saving up by selling on eBay so i can go to More than 2 shows next tour :))))))

However, DBS and the various tracks you record with other artists do not equal new *LP* music. It’s disingenous to suggest that it does. I will patiently await the release of the next album but it would be preferable to do so without enduring such rationalizations.

  70. L1nk1nPark on February 5, 2010 at 6:08 pm

Hey Mike, thanks for being so patient with us fans…and keeping us updated. I’m sure you guys will do a great job. I’m so excited about the new album!!

  71. Josh Butler on February 5, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Mike, Nice blog post, Updates like these always makes me better about how the new album is gonna turn out. It always has made me glad that at least you have always been able to keep up with the fans in your blog and keeping Phoenix from destroying the world. Question though: How do you keep Phoenix from destroying the world?

  72. Chmikster Hahn on February 5, 2010 at 4:28 pm

The next album will come out when it comes out. In the end it’ll be worth the wait. But thanks for the 411. ๐Ÿ™‚

“Wait til we put it out on other platforms, I guess…” So, it just might come out to other platforms later? I hope so! I’ve been tempted to get into PSP just to play a few games. Might happen, might not happen.

Lastly, gotta say…the Fort Minor song “Kenji” is fascinating. I read the article about the story behind it and gave it a listen. So, I’m interested in getting the FM CD. Honestly I’m not into much hip hop, but your influence into the genre is good. I’m favoring toward that little by little. It’s unlike anything else I’ve heard of.

  73. RAFAEL2114 on February 5, 2010 at 3:05 pm

hey guys!, we want a kickass album, so take oyur time to release the music that we want to hear so bad!!!, and pleaseee oh pleaseeee, come to mexico!!! we really want you to be here!!! im sure the fans in here are tired of see how you always go to europe and asia, but in mexico we really want to go to ine of your shows…please come…

I really do’t understand all the complaining. It’s hard to be patient, yes. But quality needs time! ๐Ÿ™‚

Just take your time to release a kick ass album!

  75. Phil on February 5, 2010 at 1:50 pm

i,ve waited 3 years so waiting a bit longer is not gonna kill me, take as much time as you want, you can even take 10 years to make an album it doesn’t matter, it just gives me more time to practice and surprass you guys!

  79. Sergey on February 5, 2010 at 1:01 pm

    I am disappointed…

  80. Magdalena on February 5, 2010 at 12:14 pm

I can truly understand that the process of making album takes time and that you guys don’t want to release music you’re not 100% satisfied with. I’m ready to wait as long as it’s necessary (though I’m very impatient). And I know it’s worth waiting for. So take your time ๐Ÿ™‚

Just put the best possible album out regardless of when you finish it. The new music here and there is great for keeping us interested and shows the kind of respect you have for your fan base. If it’s 2011 then so be it.

  89. Yuu-chan on February 5, 2010 at 10:23 am

I just wanted to say that for me, it doesn’t matter how long it takes you guys to come out with a new song or a new album. Your music has never, ever let me down; I’ve never disliked anything Linkin Park come out with. Every song has spoken to me in some way or another. I have faith in whatever you guys do. I know that you all are working hard to come up with something wonderful, so no matter if the wait takes less than a year or more than four, I’m willing to wait patiently but eagerly. Keep up the great work!

More rap songs to the new Linkin Park- album. Linkin Park is nothing without rap-songs. When it coming to the stores? I will wait it. I am a big fan. I wanna buy it, when it comes to the stores. I like Linkin Park. You are the best band into the world.

  94. Aiman on February 5, 2010 at 9:33 am

Hey Mike, I would just like to say that I think it’s great that you’re taking time out to talk to the fans and respond to their comments and questions. It’s nice to see that a band actually cares about their fans. I completely understand why it would take time to make an album you’re all proud of. The last thing you want to do is rush it, and I know you guys are under pressure by some of the fans, but I can see that you’re doing your best to handle it all, and keeping in touch with the fans is a smart decision ๐Ÿ™‚

Keep up the good work and congrats on the co. prod credit again!

hope Fort Minor comes soon, wish you luck with that…

  97. Cailtin on February 5, 2010 at 8:46 am

I understand some people are don’t like it that it takes so long for a new Lp album appears. (4 albums in 10 years..) BUT whรกt they make, is really great stuff and it’s (for me) timeless to, I guess if they would release more albums often, the quality wouldn’t be so great ๐Ÿ™‚

    …sorry for my english

  102. Maxim on February 5, 2010 at 7:15 am

Mike… you pushed forward release. Thats make all of fans sad:( So, actually, rumors says about February. So… At least 3 mouth waiting. I can wait. All the fans can wait. But 10 years and 4 studio albums… Yes, for this time was more LP music. But Mike… You not old, but time is running fast. You can` make 4 more albums if they`ll be releasing 1 of 3-4 years. But fans waiting more. So… please, before releasing new album… give us unreleased demos from M and M2M. You said about 100 demos for each album. Release demos, find guys to making Reanimation-2 (,3,4). I will be LP fan to the end!!! But new music needs to releasing faster. From Russia with Love)))

  103. Dushan Choco on February 5, 2010 at 7:15 am

I got a nice relevant question. Did you try under “special ideas” to experiment with post-rock genre or maybe considered it :P? Post-rock can meld nicelly with other genres, and provide quite inovate ideas. Try to take a listen to God is An Astronaut, If These Trees Could Talk, Explosions In The Sky, 65daysofstatic … ๐Ÿ™‚

  106. Ness on February 5, 2010 at 7:01 am

The important thing is that the timing is right for the band. I really like reading your blog about how you’re progressing and am a firm believer that creativity shouldn’t be rushed. Seen too many examples out there when that was an epic fail. I love LP’s music and look forward to the new album.

  107. Sagar Kulkarni on February 5, 2010 at 6:52 am

we are inspired by you, Chester and Linkin Park..
so we don’t mind a bit about the time gap between your albums.. ‘coz we are not yet compeletely satisfied by listning previous give us some more time to listen to it and get satisfied..but don’t wait till we get satisfied..take as much time and give us the music linkin park gives-To last a lifetime..
    love and luck,

P.S. – I wish you sometime plan to come to India for a concert.. ๐Ÿ™‚
    do think of it..

  108. Josh :) on February 5, 2010 at 6:52 am

I just want to say a few things. First, I’m not Mike’s or Chester’s no.1 fan but their music I listen to on a daily basis and love. Second, I think some of you are talking a load of crap. What would you rather have.. A replicated album in a year or another transformation in 5 years. I know what I would prefer, and Mike, trust me, your fans will always be waiting – we’re going no where – but ultimately time isn’t even a factor.

P.s. Sonisphere ruled and this was max effort writing on an Ipod so I hope you atleast skim read ๐Ÿ™‚

  109. EvoOba_ on February 5, 2010 at 6:48 am

I’ve said it before and I’m gonna say it again. Although I was pretty excited about the album coming out in June/July, I can imagine the pressure you guys have. The recordings, the songs, the album artwork…everything! I just wanna say I’m with you on this…take as much time as you want. We know the result is gonna be awesome and YES! Thank you for releasing new stuff all the time! You said it and you did it ๐Ÿ™‚ (well we wanna see some LPTV episodes from like the european tour ’09)

PS. A random question: Do you watct LOST? ๐Ÿ˜›

  110. Haarp18 on February 5, 2010 at 6:37 am

It would be nice if we started to get lptv or lputv episodes of you guys in the studio working on the new album to see what you guys are doing and how hard your working

  111. Sean on February 5, 2010 at 6:16 am

Mike – I have been a fan for ten years. I just want to say I think that you especially put up with a lot of fan complaints that are unnecessary. While fans are always going to complain and want more, I think the truth remains you and Linkin Park put out more music and are more interactive with fans then any band I know. Each album has been quality, and if we want that to continue you got to do things on your own clock. I just want to know if it makes it harder to make the music YOU want when so many complain it takes “too long”. Does it take away the personal factor? I hope not – your music always strikes me as personal. Hope you answer this. And thanks for doing these responses!

  112. Nerd42 on February 5, 2010 at 6:11 am

They’re probably still busy poking Chester with a hot stick to get all the screams recorded

Besides the fact that i donยดt agree with you on your answer to Matthew.
I do appreciate the fact that you seem to be the only one in the band who actually cares to answer the fans.

  115. Fatima on February 5, 2010 at 5:59 am

Weโ€™re working on the new Linkin Park album right now. Will we have a new album out in 2009? Absolutely!

And, of course, by โ€œAbsolutely,โ€ I mean, โ€œAbsolutely, as long as things go smoothly and the ideas are flowing, and we donโ€™t hit any scheduling problems or massive writers block.โ€

Mike,What’s gone wrong?(Just curious about that)

And the last thing,do you manage to spend enough time with your family?I hope so..

  117. Dante on February 5, 2010 at 5:22 am

I think you forget Mike. You and Chester are not Linkin Park. LP is Mike,Chester,Dave,Rob,Brad and Joe. IS DBS(OOA) Rob or Dave? NO! Your work with Kenna contain Brad or Joe? Again no! All that songs I Love much! But, it’s not Linkin Park! If you would said that release will be 2010 at once, it will be gut, but you said begin2009,end2009,beg2010,middle2010, and now end2010. Don’t give us wrong hope! Just say:”It will be 2011″, and all, we’ll understand this. (I love LP and will be wait your album as much as one wants, gud luck guys! ) Give my warm regards to Rob, Brad,Dave and Joe.

I didn’t mind if the album come out a bit late. I think it is necessary to make sure the album pack with great song to satisfy everybody. People, please don’t rush this guys okay… It’s cool to being patient. By the way, here’s the link to our band music page, check it out…

  120. Kuchakh on February 5, 2010 at 5:20 am

Every band should work on new music as long as they think they should. After all, first you must please yourself, than fans.

There is just one thing that really irritates me. Many fans, and you probably noticed, want that LP come back to the old style. Although I somehow understand that, I think it’s quite selfish from them to ask that. I really like how your band and music developed over the years and it would be such a shame to roll back to the old style just to please the fans. I can’t wait to hear new album and see how much you guys progressed since MTM. So…don’t hurry and take as much as time you guys need to make another AMAZING LP album.

    Cheers ๐Ÿ™‚

  124. Patrick on February 5, 2010 at 4:37 am

I agree with other guys, take your time to make an awsome unique album, but the other part of me is itching and craving new music, but you guys have never disappointed us with any of your albums, but my only concern is that with “Not Alone” and this song coming out on 8 bit rebellion, i don’t want any spoilers. You guys talk like this record is gonna be genre busting and something totally differnt, I dont want music coming out before the release spoiling it.

Hi!)My name is Dashka) I live in Russia. Now to me of 12 years and to listen Linkin Park I have begun 2 years ago. To find the favorite band (Linkin Park) I was helped by the brother. Once it has brought clips. It is a lot of clips. It is a lot of clips. Among them there were also clips Linkin Park.ะŸะตั€ะฒั‹ะน clip Linkin Park which I have seen was called In The End. I have literally fallen in love with it! I some times reconsidered it, and have then decided that I have found group which really is pleasant to me. I have started to download your music, photos, clips…

  129. Pink on February 5, 2010 at 2:57 am

The problem with the delay is that I don’t see or hear any new music of Linkin Park in radio or tv. Afraid that some of your fans might forget about you…still wishing that the new album will be release soon…cross your fingers.

Thanks Mike And All Of Linkin Park, Your Music Makes Me Feel Good About Myself And Always Brings Myself Up When I’m Sad!!
    My Motto
    “Quality Not Quanity”

  137. Calliope on February 5, 2010 at 12:50 am

The thing with the releasing dates is that we get “psychological ready” you first said 2009 we get excited then you said 2010 and we “landed” clumsily. Personaly i have get used of it and i actually don’t tie up to the releasing dates you announce in this time of process ๐Ÿ˜› But i think is time for us ( the fans) to accept that when you make an album you need 3-4 years! OK 3-4 years..i can wait because i know you will give us something at least great! So i wish good luck with the album, hope to have an update from the studio soon and can’t wait to see those “special ideas for this release” ๐Ÿ˜‰

  138. Margherita on February 5, 2010 at 12:44 am

Mike thanks for having finally put a stop to the rumors. We are your fans and we know that you ask yourself the ultimate forces or even more to do the best. I would be lying if I said that waiting is simple, but it is also true that I prefer to wait a while to get out more and see a masterpiece record that is recognized throughout the world as you deserve, that puts you in a hurry. So ultimately good job Mike. I will support you guys in my small as possible. I am proud of you! With love

  139. lode from belgium(lvix) on February 5, 2010 at 12:28 am

Linkin Park is the best band of the world… why? Because they don’t make albums with a deadline… They reale album when they think it’s perfect. ๐Ÿ˜‰ That’s how I like it, Not Alone (Song for Download To Donate) is made with a Deadline… I can hear that but still it’s good. Am I right, Mike?

  140. Kegan on February 5, 2010 at 12:25 am

Honestly Mike, this album could take years to be released and I wouldn’t mind. LP’s been my favorite band since I was eight (in 00-01) and I still listen to songs from HT. The music from your previous albums are still great simply because of the time and effort you and the others put into them. So if it takes longer than expected that is fine by me because I know I’m going to get the full-blown LP quality that we all have become accustomed to over the last decade. So if it takes a month or a year I’ll still be here waiting. By the way, thanks for putting out songs like New Divide, Not Alone, and the LPU albums. They help pass the time between albums ๐Ÿ˜‰ Looking forward to the new album!

  141. Jacrid on February 5, 2010 at 12:20 am

Seriously…. Why do some people bother LP with their expectations?
I mean – I probably shouldn’t care, but – I don’t see why Mike always has to justify what they or FM or DBS are doing. They do their best and if people for once not only HEAR/READ but also LISTEN TO/TRY TO UNDERSTAND what LP are saying/writing, they wouldn’t have to complain, would they?

@Mike & Co.: Thanks to Mike for the reply! Take your time guys! I’m sure everything that will be released will be as awesome as everything we got so far!

  142. Reenzy on February 4, 2010 at 11:57 pm

I agree with Jake below.. You do everything you can and everyone shold appreciate it.. Making an album takes a lot of time and dont forget about your families.. No one can ask you to leave them for months just to make people happy.. So lets forget about these impatient people and if the album comes out later, thats not gonna be the end of the world =) I’m sure its worth waiting for the release =)

  143. Mark Travis on February 4, 2010 at 11:52 pm

That`s great.Really helpful.Or not. With M2M,LP gained a lotta new fans to it`s fanbase. These new fans might not now what`s the situation like and they get anxious.I remember your statement, back in late `07 or so,saying that you`d release songs/albums faster. When we heard that you went in a studio in Shanghai to record a piece we were like `wow,so fast?`.anyway later we found out that the song turned out to be `we made it`.Been with LP since 01-02.The fact that i bought HT,after a month or so Reanimation, and in March 03 Met made me think that you guys release music fast. The fact that i saw other bands live before my fav one made me feel unpleasant. If not you can release one song/month online.

  144. rafael on February 4, 2010 at 11:23 pm

hey mike! i’m just writing this comment to ask you, why you can do a type of mash-up with Radiohead or Muse ?, you don’t like?, they don’t like you?, i just say it because i’ll like to hear the depressive touch of Thom Yorke with the screams of Chester Bennington, or hear the voice of Matthew Bellamy with your rap, and another more question when will you come to Mexico City?… i’m waiting for you since several years ago!!, so please if you can do a tour come to Mexico!!!!!…
so i hope you answer my comment!…

  145. Jake Housman on February 4, 2010 at 11:22 pm

Honestly, I seriously don’t get what everyone is complaining about. I guess you just can’t ever make certain people happy. We get new divide, not alone, LPU 9, the new 8-bit rebellion song, and people still whine about how the album isnt out yet. I can understand the urgency, because your music is epic ๐Ÿ˜‰ but come on people seriously. People get too caught up in listening to single songs apart from the album that they dont realize how much work an album takes. Songs are put together on an album for a reason, because they have a common feel. Bands dont just slop together a bunch of songs and call it an album(well not good ones anyway). so keep it up Mike, I look forward to the epicness!!!

  146. TedM on February 4, 2010 at 11:18 pm

Hey Mike greetings from Greece!!I’ve been a fan since meteora. It’s my favorite album ever.I really enjoy your music.Your two concerts in Athens were really awesome!!I have a question though. You said that you guys have special ideas for the new record. Are these ideas related to the genre of music that these songs are gonna be or it could mean something else? And one more thing…I really liked Across The Line and Not Alone(btw congrats for what u r doing with Music For Relief for the people in Haiti), but do you honestly think that a couple of unreleased demos/songs are as important as a whole new record? Thanks for your time.

  147. ThE BlaCK HaWK on February 4, 2010 at 11:12 pm

Thank you for the response Michael, and I agree with “Ali // allucha” above there, I think you should not give much attention to people tryna rush you, art is art, and the artist knows better how much time he should spend on that, so do your best, as you have always done, and we, as your faithful fans, will be waiting for that, no matter how much it takes, just do it your style!

    I had two questions:
    1. Did Rick Rubin have a part in producing “Not Alone” too?

    2. Will 8-Bit Rebellion be released for Sony Ericsson Platform?? (I don’t think so ๐Ÿ˜ฆ )

Thanks for being the most fan friendly artist I’ve ever seen, at least more than Phoenix ๐Ÿ˜‰

  148. Jackie on February 4, 2010 at 11:10 pm

Awesome reply, Mike! I felt exactly the same – nothing can hold you back but changing ways of creativity ๐Ÿ™‚
Btw many fans think that LP is developers of the game! that’s why they kinda pissed off ))

  149. LinkinLauren on February 4, 2010 at 11:01 pm

I understand where you’re coming from Mike, I mean giving us those songs that you mentioned makes the time go…faster? I can’t wait for the new album but I understand it takes time. Pressuring you guys to get it done faster isn’t fair. Good luck with it ๐Ÿ˜€

  150. Casey Mosley on February 4, 2010 at 10:52 pm

thanks for the info Mike! i cant wait to hear the new album. i have no idea wat to expect. and personally i think thats exciting! i kno i’ll love watever u guys put out =)

Not Alone sounds great btw. i absolutely love it. and i’m extremely addicted to New Divide so im very much content right now so dont feel rushed.
much luv to u and the LP crew! =D

Can somebody tell my where i can make my own beats?

  152. Ogi Lasica on February 4, 2010 at 10:29 pm

Hey Mike, I think it’s great that you guys are taking your time on this album, it’s looking very promising. After all, the songs on Hybrid Theory were worked on for years, and they have left a lasting impact on your fans for almost 10 years now.

I’d also like to ask, are there any new approaches in the way you guys are recording this album as apposed to say, the “Try anything and everything” approach taken on MTM? And how has new technology played a factor in the recording of this album?

  153. Alex Martha on February 4, 2010 at 10:24 pm

…..Do you know Blizzard Entertainment (BE)? I’m sure you know them!
I’m just think you guys and BE have some similar points such as: taking a very long time to put out the products!
Hopefully, everything comes from both of you guys is above good level.
I don’t mind how long will you make me wait. Just make sure that the new album should be a masterpiece.
And I hope I could hear the new single soon.
    Hope you enjoy your day!

  154. ASHOCKB1RD on February 4, 2010 at 10:05 pm

i have one question, will your album be some what similer to your first album? cause many people are just wondering

  155. Ben on February 4, 2010 at 9:53 pm

I’ve followed your blog for a long time but this is my first post. The time and effort you six as a band put into your music is inspiring. I was 8 years old when my parents first bought me Hybrid Theory in 2000, and Linkin Park instantly became my favorite band, and has been ever since. I consider Meteora my favorite album of all time, and Minutes to Midnight demonstrated the diversity necessary for your expansion as a band. I’m constantly amazed at how much the six of you inspire me and bring me so much relief in life. Your music is constantly an escape for me, and I wanted to thank you all for your work.

Take your time on the new album, I know it’s going to kick ass.

    Thank you.

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 10:04 pm

Thanks Ben. We’ll do our best, as always, to keep challenging you and making music that will excite and inspire you.

  156. Moepi on February 4, 2010 at 9:49 pm

I think I could wait a little bit longer. But just because I know, that the new album will be a great one. As long as I’m waiting, I’m listening to your older sings…or to Dead By Sunrise…and wait… ๐Ÿ˜€
Big thanks for ‘Not Alone’, even it was just written because of the earthquake, I love the song.
I hope you’re doing well and that you will come to Germany this/next year. Another Open-Air concert in Stuttgart would be great!

  157. Elliot mc Eli on February 4, 2010 at 9:49 pm

well, what is going to be the difference between MTM and this album? Seems both will have taken the same about of time to produce… will it just be another MTM ver 2 where you guys are finding your options but have expanded even more? OR do you you actually have an idea on what your aiming for in this album? I understand if you can’t answer this… but i would love to see more “structure” be put into this album so to speak.. not just w’e 10-12 songs thrown together that are “album quality” but not necessarily songs that should be put on the same album….. second question… should we expect more music until drop date (plus 8bit song)

  158. TIFFTIFF33LP on February 4, 2010 at 9:37 pm

oh,ok I get it now, thanks for clearing that up for us mike!!!!^_^*

  159. Auliyaurroman Nuril Afwan on February 4, 2010 at 9:15 pm

Wish all the best for you guys

  160. keilah136 on February 4, 2010 at 9:13 pm

Hey Mike, my little brother Robbie just figured out that you could write comments on your blog and that you might possibly respond to them, he seriously just about peed his pants when I told him that. He is 11 and he has been listening to Linkin Park for two years and you guys are his favorite band in the world. He also says he cannot wait for your new album to come out. If you could reply to this that would be incredibly cool for him to see… and I wanna hear him scream lol Thanks! If you don’t write back we still love you guys!

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:32 pm

      Awesome sauce. What’s up Robbie!

  161. SHUAN on February 4, 2010 at 9:08 pm

The news I have heard this year, the most exciting message!

  162. RV on February 4, 2010 at 8:42 pm

I know we’re all dying for the release of the fourth LP album, but remember people, great things take time. Mike I DARE you guys to make this album as classic as Hybrid Theory and Meteora.

  163. Murry on February 4, 2010 at 8:31 pm

By those standards, it’s business as usual, though, no? You guys have always done little releases between albums. Okay, they were usually either a single song or a remix or a comic book or DVD or what have you, but still. That makes the band no more prolific. Not complaining, by the way. I appreciate that you guys take your time to produce quality albums.

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:35 pm

Not sure if I agree, but nevertheless, our music takes time. If we decided to put out half-cooked music more often, I’m sure you guys would be bummed out. Thanks for understanding. The only way to tell whether or not we up the ante is over time. If we’re able to keep up a good pace for the next few years, I think you guys will notice. We’ll see what happens.

  164. Lori on February 4, 2010 at 8:21 pm

yah, music takes time, i could care less if it comes out, this year, next year, when ever, as long as it is amazing, like there albums usually are! so yah definetly take your time, it didnt take Michelangelo just a day to paint the sistine chapel ceiling! ๐Ÿ™‚ and yes, you have definetly lived up to your word on coming out with new songs! thank you very much! ๐Ÿ™‚

  165. GOODTOKNOW on February 4, 2010 at 8:14 pm

Now, who are you meaning to by the way?

  166. Paul on February 4, 2010 at 8:01 pm

With all due respect Mike, “Not Alone” would not have been made unless the earthquake happened so it’s not that would have been part of your plan to release more music. And even if you do count that it’s just a revived old track.

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:36 pm

re: Not Alone–I wish had your crystal ball. Telling the future is a neat trick.

  167. Wello on February 4, 2010 at 7:56 pm

Honestly, I’m losing interest. This is ridiculous.

  168. Julian on February 4, 2010 at 7:51 pm

Mike, as others have said it, take your time and do what it’s best for you guys, we true fans will wait even if it’s for another year or two.

Also, I found that you seem to be rather nervous when singing (not rapping) live as you always kept your vocal very low (e.g. end part of The Little Things Give You Away). Please, do know that you have a very beautiful voice and you definitely have the talent to sing, either with Chester or solo. I look very forward to hearing you more in concerts. No Roads Left maybe?

PS: Please please please consider coming to Hong Kong!! The last show was the most beautiful day of my life!!!

Best wishes and regards to you guys,

“We have some new, special ideas for this release, and those ideas have delayed it slightlyโ€“but not into 2011”

Could this be the audio-visual thing Mr Hahn mentioned a few months back?

  170. Miss Kauro on February 4, 2010 at 7:46 pm

It’s ok Mike…as many of as said…we’ll gonna wait ’til it comes out. Even if that’s sooooooo late we’ll still gonna buy it…Take care y’all ๐Ÿ˜‰

well, do what you think is the best for the upcoming album.. we’re just here waiting… and since you’re giving music to entertain us, we’re totally not bored!

    good luck guys!:D

PS: why is my comment awaiting moderation in your previous blog?

  172. Teresa on February 4, 2010 at 7:07 pm

I say take your time. The reason fans are still listening to your music that is ten years old or more is because you put thought into it. I love all your albums. I love the fact that its all different. MTM is unbelievable. I am stoked to see what comes next. I hope it is different from everything you guys have done. Your keeping it real. Something that you and all your fans can be proud of. I will wait for as long as it takes and still be your #1 fan.

    Hey Mike~!
I agree with you; yet I would like to point out that we fans really value albums many times more than released singles or collaborations with other artists. But, I won’t rush you..take your time. I’m sure the delay will be worth it ๐Ÿ™‚
    Good Luck!
    Thanks for everything~!

i’m gonna translate what Danii wrote to u in spanish cuz i think it’s important cuz as u well know u guys have alot of Latino fans! here’s wat she said:Mike first i’d like to thank u for ur worry and time to respond to the fans. i agree w/ alot of the guys, it’s better to wait and assure ourselves of an excellent job than sumthin that’s rushed. mike, we’re waiting anxiously for ur work + it doesn’t matter how long it takes. u guys r awesome and i’m sure ur new album will be a success.
P.S. i’m happy enough listening to the lastest songs! they’re amazing + i’ll bet the game will be a huge hit. Greetings from Chile!

  175. Ron on February 4, 2010 at 6:46 pm

Mike everything you just said is true wisdom!!! you havent released anything yet that has dissapointed me and I personally would want you to take as much time as you and and the band see fit to make the best record you feel you can make

  176. MJ59 on February 4, 2010 at 6:26 pm

I don’t want you guys to be rushed and make an album that you are not 100% happy with!
But I’d be happy if you could put LPTV or LPUTV more often to show us how you guys are doing in the studio! even 10 seconds long would be great!

  177. RiotFaerie on February 4, 2010 at 6:24 pm

You guys are possibly the most hard working and most productive band I’ve ever seen. Always keeping me (and your fans) inspired. :3 Keep it up, guys!! I can’t wait for the album (I collect almost all of them).

I got a question though, where do you guys get your inspirations in making music?

    Ganbarimasu, Mike-san~~

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:38 pm

Inspiration: usually from just sitting in front of a song and working at it for a while. The song tells us what to do…

  178. ChesterDEAN on February 4, 2010 at 6:17 pm

I never complain, ’cause you always give us something to entertain ourselves while we wait for an album. Betweetn HT and Meteora was Reanimation, between Meteora and MTM there was Live in Texas AND Collision Course, between MTM and the upcoming album, there’s RTR…. I don’t know other LP fans opinions, but I do enjoy these as much as I enjoy studio albums, so…. take your time, if waiting a couple of years for a new record means you’ll blow my mind with your music, then I don’t mind waiting, ’cause I know it’s gonna be GOOD ’cause you took your time to make it perfect ๐Ÿ™‚ I don’t like mediocre rockstars ๐Ÿ˜‰

  179. danii on February 4, 2010 at 6:08 pm

we will be with u and support u

  181. lostpark on February 4, 2010 at 6:03 pm

to be very honest, i agree completely with mike. i’ve had to deal with albums that have been delayed for three years and i’ve been getting very sick of it. if this keeps up i will lose intrest and just forget about linkin park until the release, or maybe just in general.

  182. Johnathan on February 4, 2010 at 5:57 pm

Yeah, you did say you wanted to make more albums in a quicker time span, “every couple of years”….. couple equals 2, not 4.

  183. Hero on February 4, 2010 at 5:43 pm

I think that’s reasonable. I appreciate the way you’ve given us a window into your creative process, especially through the LPU9 CD. I hope you continue to do so.

  184. Mike on February 4, 2010 at 5:43 pm

To be very honest, i think that bs. You guys release albums so late, and the stuff you release in between albums does NOT tide us over in the slightest bit, it is decent at best. Im tired of waiting for albums….

  185. ruben91lp on February 4, 2010 at 5:34 pm

the longer it takes, the more we expect from it. i’m affraid we’re getting overhyped and the album will turn out great, but not as genre busting/new as we’re all hoping. i truly hope im wrong, but that’s for you guys to prove. don’t get me wrong, i’ll always enjoy your music. i just want to enjoy it proudly. you’re taking a long time, so it should be fine…

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:45 pm

A good point, but the “over-hyped” part is not in our hands. Your expectations are your alone. I cannot control them.

  186. c on February 4, 2010 at 5:28 pm

i think, they need make a new record, and asap, or make like black eyed peas and leaking one different track per week before the release of album
and at least we need more bsides in the singles, im tired of only live tracks and remixes in single bsides

  187. Your Conscience on February 4, 2010 at 5:21 pm

I don’t understand why so-called fans are getting pissy about the album not being released yet. I’d rather wait until the new album has reached its potential, than to have it be rushed through. I disagree with ‘Jonathan’; between everything else that you guys are involved in, I’m perfectly content waiting a little extra time for the album’s release. ‘Chanette’, on the other hand, put it perfectly…

  188. Sunrise_Ashes on February 4, 2010 at 5:19 pm

To be honest, I’m content to wait for the next Linkin Park record, even if it takes until next year. I’d rather than the album was looked after and songs that mean something picked, then have a record rushed off just because fans were getting restless.

And it’s not as if we’re kept out of the loop. There’s the Linkin Park fan site and this blog to keep us up to date on the process and what you guys are doing, as well as other song releases, live performances and new merch.

I hope that you guys have fun and enjoy making the record at your own pace. I know it’ll be awesome whenever it shows.

  189. jessiexo on February 4, 2010 at 5:16 pm

    Hey Mike,

I think its great that you actually reply to our concerns. I agree that it was a little disappointing but keep doing your best:) Just remember that sometimes rewriting a song 12054712049 times is unnecessary and that a few times can be the charm. Staying in the studio so long can totally burn you out right?

Anyways good luck, thanks for the response!

this is interesting… i was hoping your album would come out in June of this year, because that’s what I had read. It’s been so freakin’ long since an album has been released, don’t get me wrong Download to Donate is great and it’s helping out Haiti very much, but I have been waiting for a looong time for another album. Also…when are you guys heading out on Projekt Revolution/tour again? I hope you come to Sacramento!

  197. Shadower_liltani on February 4, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Mike, there was an older interview, I don’t remember which one, where you set you wanted to make albums every couple of years. I’m not gonna hold it against, you’ve done a ton of interviews in the last year, and you’re not going to remember every single detail of every single thing you’ve said. I think some fans fail to understand that the creative process is never the same. Every album has had a different concept and objective, and each has needed a different amount of time to complete it. But Mike, you’re beginning to sound as though our questions get to you. And I know I’m obnoxious sometimes, but Matthew’s question was fair, and should have been treated as such.

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:48 pm

Yes Mike, and I’m so glad for your connection with the fans with those available songs and guests. I think some fans just ask this for you ’cause you are the person more next to us in the moment, you are so good to fans and you even answer to them anyway.
We trully hope everything comes in the right time. We are ready man.

  199. Paul aka Eddie on February 4, 2010 at 4:05 pm

Yeah guys, Mike is right. Don’t forget about New Divide, Out Of Ashes, Across The Line, Not Alone, Mike’s collaborations with other artists, and the upcoming 8-Bit Rebellion song. Also don’t forget that every December we have a new LPU cd. And my opinion is that is better for me to wait 3-4 years and have an awesome new album in the end! And guys, you know, it’s not the easiest thing to write and record a new album. It requires a lot of hard work. My point is, Mike and LP, take as time as you need and give us an AWESOME brand new album! ALSO MIKE IS GOING TO BE A 2010 TOUR??? Thanks for the update Mike! Take care bro! ๐Ÿ™‚

  200. Bec on February 4, 2010 at 4:01 pm

I’m certain in interviews in the past it was said an album would be released quicker than in the past where 3+ years passed between sucessive albums…not including remixes, live albums, mash-ups and solo projects.

Are New Divide or the MFR really counted…they’re filler tracks!

We fans are used to your gues giving a date and then pushing it back every 6 months…wasn’t it originally intended to be done by spring 2008?
I don’t want to rush you, take your time and make everything perfect it’s good that you have the creative freedom to not have to meet deadlines…I bet we all wish our jobs were like that.

  208. KATHYxx on February 4, 2010 at 3:41 pm

Is “Not Alone” representative of the direction of anything considered for your fourth CD, Mike?

I cant help but feel sad for the delay. The delays didn’t used to affect me so much, but maybe I am just getting fatigued. I don’t have an iPhone. I’m sure the phone song be a good song nonetheless because I like just about every one of your songs to death. Even if I didn’t like the last two songs, I’m still hanging on for you guys.

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:51 pm

I don’t think “Not Alone” is indicative of the direction of the new record. I love how the song turned out, but the new record doesn’t all sound like that song. It also doesn’t sound like HT, Meteora, or MTM.

  209. Tom on February 4, 2010 at 3:40 pm

Mike in regards to Matthew’s statement, you guys did make it sound like you would release an album more quickly in the future. I feel like you kind of twisted that now with “release music more often.” People interpreted that as albums. I think that you guys should definitely take your time on releasing something your proud of. However, I would stop naming possible dates or years, because it gives us false hope. However, best regards. P.S. Have you listened to Thrice’s album Beggars? Probably the best release of 09. Good luck on the album

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:53 pm

I love “Beggars.” Good album. I’m also listening to: Micachu, Absofacto, BlakRok, Mew, Vampire Weekend, and Temper Trap.

  210. Superman on February 4, 2010 at 3:39 pm

When you say that the album is going to be released this year do you mean within a couple of months or does it mean it won’t come out until like December? It’s just that your last album was released in the beginning of 2007 and it’s already 3 years since an album. A lot of other artists release an album nearly yearly or usually biyearly. Since Minutes to Midnight all you released is “New Divide” and “Not Alone”, 2 great songs but it’s just that you still haven’t released an album.

  211. minuteforce on February 4, 2010 at 3:36 pm

Yeah, there really has been a lot coming out of the LP camp recently. :3

  212. lnknprkfocus on February 4, 2010 at 3:30 pm

The fact of the matter is, we’ve waited years for a new record before, and yet LP has never let us down. That’s why they’re still around, that’s why even music from Hybrid Theory is still relevant and pertinent today. Because songs aren’t pushed out with the singular hope that they’ll hit the Top 40. Sure, it’s nice when the songs/albums chart, but the music is there so that the band members can can express themselves how they want to, not how some label tells them to. As long as the band stayed together and continued to release “music”, I’d wait 20 years for a new album. Love you guys!

  213. Ece on February 4, 2010 at 3:28 pm

Thank you for your attention, Mike. I’m sure the new album is gonna be great. We will wait a long time but i think it’s worth. I hope you go on a tour like last summer.

  214. Brian on February 4, 2010 at 3:25 pm

No matter what you do Mike it’s not a new Linkin Park record. I would rather wait less time for a new record then get this stuff. I’m not saying this stuff isn’t cool but its not a new LP record.

    LPU Username – BTM

  215. markus on February 4, 2010 at 3:23 pm

i like all the stuff you guys are doing and i think its great but really you need to focus on your album then just side projects. side projects are great but thats why there called side projects, you put them aside till later. so if you please stop with all your other stuff and just focus and make a great album that would be wonderful.

  216. Chanette on February 4, 2010 at 3:21 pm

If it takes 4 years, then it takes 4 years. If it takes 7 years, then it takes 7 years.

I’ll wait as long as I have to. LP always puts their all into their work and it shows. If I have to wait 4 years, then I will, because I know it will be worth it. Good luck guys.

  217. Flor_xoxo on February 4, 2010 at 3:20 pm

thanks for the album info Mike, its much appreciated!

  218. Gloria on February 4, 2010 at 3:20 pm

I’m glad you cleared things up. I honestly wouldn’t mind waiting for as long as it takes for a new album. The more time LP is given to make an album, the better the quality is. It’s not like it’s something new where the fans had to wait for albums to be released (Meteora, Minutes To Midnight…).

  219. Wick on February 4, 2010 at 3:20 pm

Hey Mike! Really appreciate you clarifying a few points there for us fans! I also really appreciate releasing “one-off” tracks before the new album comes out! It makes the time go by as the album approaches! I know you have a lot of pressure when it comes to releasing this album and I know it takes a while, but we all know that when it happens, the album’ll be ACE!

  220. LINKINPARK1990/CHAZCHAZ1990 on February 4, 2010 at 3:17 pm

thanks mike and hay u are right u did u be giving us more not in the form of albums and i love it hope u all are having fun with the recording

  221. andrea on February 4, 2010 at 3:15 pm

thanks for dealing with us, the ever impatient fans mike. We know you guys wanna make good stuff and make it all cool for us and that takes time. Just stay true to your music and your real fans will always be behind you ๐Ÿ™‚ keep up the fantastic work!

  222. Pr3mium on February 4, 2010 at 3:15 pm

I do really want your new album out. But I’d much rather you not force it out and have the best songs with great lyrics and rhythm.

  223. PinkyLoulou on February 4, 2010 at 3:15 pm

I wasn’t surprised when I read the interview, I was expecting this would happen. My concern is about the tours. No tours this year?

  224. felipeintheend on February 4, 2010 at 3:14 pm

While you guy don’t release the album, you should release some live video on LPU same as 2004, etc… We all miss that era, when you guys released lot of live shows. Maybe video song live from the past.

  225. LTAndros on February 4, 2010 at 3:14 pm

Mike I did understand the “release music more often” nuance… and i agree with you… you are keeping your word.
I don’t like the idea of having to buy an Iphone to ear that song in particular, because I can’t afford one. But I can ear it one time in YouTube (just to see what LP is doing)
But I might add, it would be very cool if I you guys posted more videos on the LPUTV ๐Ÿ™‚ I bet I guys have tons of great moments captured ๐Ÿ˜› that you can share without invading your privacy off course.

Also you guy’s don’t “have to” do nothing. You guy’s do what you want. I’m sure I and all your fans will follow ๐Ÿ˜›

  226. Ajay on February 4, 2010 at 3:14 pm

Really hoping for the album to come out ASAP.
So since I don’t have an Ipod or IPhone… how do I play 8-bit Rebellion?

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:30 pm

Wait til we put it out on other platforms, I guess…or buy an iPad.

  227. Ali // allucha on February 4, 2010 at 3:09 pm

I think you guys know best. Seriously, patience leads to good things, so what if we have to wait a couple more months? I’d rather listen to something you guys were all settled on, rather than something you rushed cause everyone made a fuss about some months.

And for the record, considering these two and a bit months will have resulted in 3 brand new Linkin Park songs (and then your songs with Kenna, etc), what’s everyone complaining about? XD Can’t wait for 8 Bit Rebellion, slightly gutted not all LPUers can test it, though.

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:30 pm

If I had my way, the entire LPU would be able to test the game. Couldn’t happen.

  228. Johnathan on February 4, 2010 at 3:07 pm

Honestly, you all will always be my favorite group of musicians. But if you honestly expect your fans to wait another 4 years after this album, you all are very wrong. Times are changing much, much faster. And it’s going to be hard to stay relevant.

    • M Shinoda on February 4, 2010 at 9:29 pm

      Um, see above post.

  229. NoRoadsLeft. on February 4, 2010 at 3:00 pm

hey mike! well, i’m extremely excited for the new album. i think the wait will be worth it and i hope the album will be as good as the previous ones(: i actually loved minutes to midnight. i dont get why some people dont like it.. i just hope a little more rap will be on the album. either way, i know ill love it. oh and are our guys touring soon? come to Chicago!!

btw, im listening to your song on minutes to midnight album. great work! sing another one please, you have an amazing voice!

  230. Amit Valand on February 4, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Well said Mike. Look foward to the awesomeness coming up.

  231. Hybrid911 on February 4, 2010 at 2:45 pm

I can’t wait for a new album and I can’t wait for the game release I think it’s a fantastic idea I’m stoked about it. I also can’t wait to see what the ‘special ideas’ are.

I must admit I thought MTM was a terribly disappointing album compared to HT and Meteora in both terms of music and artwork etc, to say you guys did it in four years as well so I guess it’s not about the time it takes for you guys to create an album. I hope the new album takes a different approach to MTM and I’m ecstatic you’re hoping to release it by the end of the year.

Really hoping for a UK tour as well, although I can’t see it happening this year… x
