Arc Attack: Song Played on Tesla Electrical Coils

May 30, 2010

This isn’t a scene from Iron Man 2, it’s a group called ArcAttack.  This is a real dude with real electrical arcs, which create a sound, on two enormous tesla coils.  Wow…‬

  27. Giselle on May 31, 2010 at 6:02 pm

I saw these guys play live at the International VEX Robotics Championship Competition after-party that I traveled overseas to in Dallas, Texas earlier this year. They are amazing performers and definitely worth seeing in person if you ever get a chance! They performed the USA national anthem at our opening ceremony as well as their place at our post-competition celebration actually.

  30. vanessa Negrete on May 31, 2010 at 2:11 pm

Pretty awesome. Some physics majors performed something quite similar last year at the University of Texas at Austin. Its crazy how technology has been advancing.

For those of you who are concerned about the guy’s life you must not worry. That guy has a special suit wich protects him from being electrocuted. The performance was reakin awesome. Thank you for sharing this, Mike!!!

  43. JanV on May 31, 2010 at 2:08 am

That was so AWESOME & FREAKY at the same time O_O reminded me of a spooky movie I’d seen as a kid… 😀
I think u shud mention “Don’t u dare try this at home” at the bottom of the post; the whole concept of makin music like that is dangerous! I’m glad LP has stuck to the relatively conventional (yeah, right) methods of using musical instruments 🙂
    Thanx 4 everythin~!

  44. mariya on May 31, 2010 at 12:31 am

  45. vickyLP on May 30, 2010 at 11:50 pm

  46. sabrina on May 30, 2010 at 11:43 pm

  47. Super_Nani on May 30, 2010 at 11:37 pm

    omg that sounds really cool!!!
i´m a little bit concerned of the life of this person!!!
but it looks good and a little bit dangerous!!

  48. cincybmxlpfreak on May 30, 2010 at 11:34 pm

    Yeah…EFF THAT!!

  49. linkinparkbelgiummanager on May 30, 2010 at 11:28 pm

It looks dangerous. 😮 I really can’t believe that’s possible. Greetz, Lode

  50. Maurice Loeff on May 30, 2010 at 11:17 pm

Haha thats kind of fun and original, music not so much. I wonder in which amount the sound is really controlled by the Tesla guy though!

  52. EvoOba on May 30, 2010 at 10:01 pm

Let me try posting a comment. I bet withing 1 hour, the admins are going to delete it. Why is it that every time I post a comment, it gets deleted?

  58. Leah on May 30, 2010 at 7:31 pm

    thats pretty amazing..

  59. ammy aybar on May 30, 2010 at 7:15 pm

lolx!!!!! that crazy and funny xD

  60. Brian on May 30, 2010 at 6:11 pm

If you look closely, I believe the sound is coming from the speakers, and they time the pulses of the tesla coils to coincide with that sound. There are some points where the arcs are not connecting to his body but a sound is still being generated.

    Still – insanely cool.

  61. Lílian Rachel on May 30, 2010 at 4:59 pm

    Wow … I loved

    amazing *—–*

  62. kathyara on May 30, 2010 at 4:15 pm

  63. casey mynatt on May 30, 2010 at 3:33 pm

Thats cool. I wish i can do that.

  64. Alexandra Nofi on May 30, 2010 at 3:23 pm

Impressive looking, but, I think the sound of it is actually really annoying. And, it’s really ridiculous looking in my opinion.

Whiplash totally pwns this guy 😀

  65. TheGlueLpFan on May 30, 2010 at 3:10 pm

Even though I know that he’s safe it just seems so dangerous 😀 Amazing!

  66. EpicLinkinPark on May 30, 2010 at 3:09 pm

This was Epic, I saw Iron Man 2 by the way, awesome movie. Hope you got a chance to see it, it was very epic. Thanks for sharing this, this was very cool.

  67. KATHYxx on May 30, 2010 at 3:09 pm

If you know what you’re doing, there’s no way to be electrocuted that way.

Now i had seen the Mario Bros Theme with Tesla coils before, but not with a person in it.

  68. Natalia on May 30, 2010 at 2:58 pm

omg, really, I don’t mind a chock but this is insane. i’m scared. LOL
