First Day On The Road

August 17, 2010

Just arrived in Germany.  It’s the first day of a short promotional tour for A THOUSAND SUNS.  I’m still adjusting to the idea that this album is finally about to be released into the world after almost two years of hard work.  Today (and for the next few days) Phoenix and I will be talking to people from all over the world about the songs, our recording process, the release, and what we like to eat and do when we’re in Germany.

Danke vielmals!

  7. faintypainty on August 21, 2010 at 7:34 am

I saw the live stream, it was so madness, but almost very interesting, we german people got all informations we wanted to know.

Mike and Pheonis are very good in speaking german, pheonis can say dankeschön, that´s so cute, it seems with mike, that pheonix is traineed for saying that.

Gaanz Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland von Pia

[thought: *looking up* someone: wow you look like Mike! You: yeah i know *blink, blink* someone: why does the guy next to you looks like chester?
you: because he is chester(-.-)] but the thought is kind of unreal i’d never saw you with a face like this -> (-.-)

What are you floating now? How’d you even take that?
That’s pretty damn cool, Nodaface. Pretty damn cool.

  39. Alexandra Nofi on August 17, 2010 at 7:25 am

Great photo, Germany is pretty ^___^ The gothic buildings remind me of New Haven, CT. I wish I still lived there…

For a split second I was thinking that, you’d be playing songs of the new album, then I continued reading. So, are you in fact playing any shows right now, or just chilling out and talking to people?

BTW, I finally got a job! YAYZ! So, soon I may actually have the money to get the deluxe edition of the album. In addition to the album, I’m most excited about the vinyls. (We only got rid of our record player like, 5 years ago. And we STILL have a VCR).

  40. linkinparkforever275 on August 17, 2010 at 6:54 am

Hey mike 🙂 nice to have you and Dave here in Germany 🙂 Welcome! We are glad that you come here and do a press conference in cologne and in Hamburg on Friday! Hopefully i win a ticket for hamburg. Didn’t have luck with cologne! Hope you have a wonderful time here! Enjoy it!

  47. argol8489 on August 17, 2010 at 4:53 am

very nice photo … you are lucky lol.
bring me a souvenir jejeje— Is it cold? Is it hot? … What do you like most about German food? …

  48. america09 on August 17, 2010 at 4:43 am

I tried to win a ticket to the promo tour in Köln (or Cologne… choose what you prefer), too, but it was very difficult. The radio station 1Live is rather a station for the people who live in the north of Germany. The people in south Germany has nearly no chance to win a ticket. And I’m afraid that finally eighteen out of twenty tickets were won by people who just know that Linkin Park is a famous band. I think (and that’s just MY guess) that most of the winners aren’t real Linkin Park fans. The real Linkin Park fans in Germany could only win TWO tickets (via
It’s too bad… I hope we have a chance to meet you again… but then real fans 🙂

  49. xrevengax on August 17, 2010 at 4:27 am

    Hey there
    My advice for you:
Entre a bakery and ask for “Granatsplitter”!
Well some may say it looks like a butt plug… and yes it does, but it’s damn tasty =)

  50. sammy708 on August 17, 2010 at 4:14 am

    Herzlich Willkommen in Deutschland!

Nice picture of the Hohenzollern Bridge and Cologne Cathedral. But the weather is really bad. It’s the same here in Northern Germany. So don’t expect any Californian sunshine in Hamburg on Friday and be nice to Schorse!

  51. lplovei on August 17, 2010 at 4:08 am

You’re welcome Mike! I’m beyond stoked for the release of A Thousand Suns. If you think it was hard for you guys to work on it imagine how hard the wait was on us. 🙂
