I always loved your music. I feel the melodies and the message in all your albums. Since I bought ‘A Thousand Suns’ last weekend I probably listened to it as a whole for 4 times and certain songs I like the most probably 20 times! My kids think I’m obsessed and they are teenagers! I must confess in first scan I thought it was a bit too different but it really grew on me after the second listening! Great job – thanks for the music and inspiration.

    Mike,

I have listened to the new album 3 times now. I still have the same feelings as I did after my 1st listen. I am both amazed and disappointed.
I am amazed because it truly is an epic album. This sounds like something that will either be remembered for many years to come or forgotten within a of couple months. I applaud you and the band for going outside the box and writing and producing something truly special, different, and epic.

I have to say that I was completely wrong about this album in my previous post. I still think it is filled with unnecessary filler in parts but it has grown on me and I actually respect you guys for sticking to your guns with this one. It is a change but sometimes change can be good.

Hey, i’m not a Linkin Park fan at all. I liked one or two of your songs before but that’s it…

But I have to say I think this last album is excellent.

It made me come here to tell you this : Great work !

  5. austins80 on September 18, 2010 at 3:13 pm

I completely understand that bands grow and need to experiment with different sounds but I was left disappointed after the release of the album. Didn’t hate it but it was just not what I experted at all from LP. Really hoping the next album will kick ass because this one will probably be forgotten in two months. If you keep this direction instead of being in the company of bands like NIN and Metallica you will be touring with Sylver and Cascada. With that said I will always suppoort you guys and buy your stuff because since you came on the scene this is the first time I’ve been disappointed. Still love you guys!

5 out of 5 totally deserved…and I gotta say most of the reviews that I’ve read give you top score…well done🙂

I have loved LP since 2000~this album is AMAZING! It sends me off to another parallel universe or something…you all said you wrote from the ‘subconscious’~that’s for real to me. Why is it that even though I had not yet heard each song before.. each song had this sense of familarity to me??! But you know what? EVERY LP song/Album has ALWAYZ felt that way to me. You guyz have an innate ability to tap into the creative collecticve, I believe.
If my dreams had it’s own original soundtrack to bring into this waking reality; it would be the Thousand Suns album in it’s entirety front to back. Word. Thnx to you all:-)

Listened to A Thousand Suns today for the first time. The entire CD was an amazing artistic journey and I loved it. Great work guys. I can’t wait to see/hear some of these performed live. Much appreciation, love, blessings, and respect to you all. — JR

Mike, as I already said on your LPU website – thanks for yesterday. NYC concert was so good, I hope you’ll release some videos from there. And again, your smile when onstage is so sweet, makes you look like a kid in a candy store. Loved it. Do you have any idea what you do to our lives when you play a concert like that?

I have been an LP fan since the beginning, and I must say that as a listener, there is nothing that makes me happier than listening to a new album and being surprised that whats on the album is totally different then all the other music you guys have done. Hybrid Theory and Meteora sounded similar, but had a different tone which made both of them great to listen to, even these days. Minutes to Midnight is a beautiful album and has great and meaningful songs on it. A Thousand Suns paints an amazing picture. I am glad that LP has grown not only musically but lyrically as well. When I was homeless, Hybrid Theory helped me get through each day one at a time. I Thank You LP.

  15. hemanshyo on September 14, 2010 at 11:20 pm

U’ve changes a lot LP!! nd ur new album ‘a thousand suns’ is awesum ……its little electronic though. I cant compare the tracks with the previous albums…….ur album is like a message…
But i think the problem with the album is plenty of boring speeches and piano parts which are featured as ‘tracks’!!…
We want ur Electric guitar…….chester’s screaming in ‘blackout’ went boring without the guitar!….
and in ‘the catalyst’ the keyboard solo in the bridge before”lift me up” part shud’ve been a guitar solo!!!!………
u could’ve made the album better by using more of guitar and drums than the keyboard and electro beats!!!—–

  16. madshell on September 14, 2010 at 10:49 pm

i liked the album a lot😀 but the review wasnt that well written… i like the previous one u posted!

  17. danibarquilia on September 14, 2010 at 9:59 pm

Reviews on the way are so positive. A Thousand Suns is really an amazing album. I’m journalist and I’d like to write a review too, but you wouldn’t understand my official language.
I’m cheering up to read some more good words about you new album.
    Peace and congratulations!

  18. truthincliche on September 14, 2010 at 9:31 pm

It’s nice to see some positive reviews coming out in the media in response to the new album. You’d be getting a positive review from me in any case =]

    Unrelated and speculative question;

Mike, are Linkin Park planning a New Zealand show?

If not, it would be a courtesy to let NZ fans know so that we can organize flights etc over to Australia to see you guys play this amazing new music live. Equally as courteous would be to let us know if you ARE planning a show to save us excessive amounts of travel costs.
I know you can’t usually divulge these details, but it would be nice to know whether to go for presales now or to wait.

    Peace, love & music,
    Giselle

  21. argol8489 on September 14, 2010 at 8:19 pm

really loved the whole album, “waiting for the end” “burning in the skies” and “When They Come For Me” are my favorite songs … hehehe … “PRESTEN ATENCION” hehehe. Seo them the best of the best … are the best band and I’m glad have listened from the beginning … this album is going to make history …

  22. slowlearner32 on September 14, 2010 at 7:35 pm

I can see some people talk about their favorite song in ATS. My favorite song is Waiting For The End.

  23. alex5545 on September 14, 2010 at 5:25 pm

Awesome album. I would have to say its the best album thats come out in years and I feel you have far surpassed Hybrid Theory. Favourite songs are Robot Boy and Blackout but not by much as all the tracks on the album are awesome.

  24. keykey2010 on September 14, 2010 at 5:09 pm

I really like the ablum. It isn’t even like an album it is so much more I feel the LP sound has evolved in a really great way and if people wanna hear old LP why don’t they just pop Hybrid theory in the CD player. I feel like as I’ve gotten older I feel like I’ve matured along with the sound. When I was 16 it was cool to listen to LP and tell the whole world to “Shut Up!” but now I feel like the songs have some resolution and it is more about the world and our surroundings and interactions with others unlike the other albums that were more, for lack of a better word, selfish?. My fave song? Robot boy. But the album is amazing.

  25. shukm on September 14, 2010 at 3:16 pm

I was listening to iridescent and somebody commented by saying that this stuff was made for Coldplay fans not real LP fans….but hey, Coldplay isnt a bad band either. I think your band is kind of hard to compare to theirs though….apples and oranges. I love the new stuff though! Totally worth the wait!

  26. dorito82 on September 14, 2010 at 2:48 pm

Mike, this album is absolutely wonderful! Listening to it, I can completely understand why you advised everyone to listen to it front-to-back. It wouldn’t make sense to jump around with it. It just flows. I’ve put it on my ipod, so now everything is shuffled around, but that’s life, right? lol

  27. luki9875 on September 14, 2010 at 2:06 pm

the album is amazing. for me its absolutely perfect. its like you guys went into my dream, found whats perfect for me, took it out of my dream and made it. amazing

I’ve been listening to it all day non-stop and playing Halo: Reach to it. The album is just so different, yet awesome! I love unpredictable art because it NEVER gets old.

It would be great if you guys could contact me like you said you might back in June or maybe you can play a round of Halo:Reach with ME and some of my buddies😀

Take care and good luck at the show tonight!

    Linkin Park Fan Forever!

If there’s five million out of five million I’ll gonna give 10 billion.

  33. theyactuallymakemylifebetter on September 14, 2010 at 12:56 pm

One of my favorites on the album is Iridescent, I think Chaz did a great job on The Messenger. I don’t know if you saw one of my tweets about your last one…. I asked you if you could post here some pics of the show tonight, I can«t go so it would be a cool way to share an awesome night (I guess so :D) with the rest of your fans… Good luck for tonight😉

->” “When they Come for Me,” slides from a slick synth into Mike Shinoda unleashing like never before.”<- I haven't heard this one yet. But since you unleash like never before, I'm lookin' forward to it.🙂

I am going to read it when I get home because I am at work right now and am leaving in a few minutes. Five out of five stars is epic😀

Also, I did a fan review a couple of days ago. It’s been years since I wrote a review of an album by any musician for that matter. So, just thought I’d share my thoughts on the album: http://theartbook35.webs.com/apps/blog/show/4772423-a-thousand-suns-review-

It’s very impressive. Far different from what we are accustomed to, and, I like that a lot. Artists who are willing to try new things never grow old.
