Thanks for making yesterday a great birthday for Hybrid Theory!  Here are 4 images from my personal stash for you guys to enjoy. The first image is pretty cool…that’s the news clipping from our first show ever (as Xero), at the Whisky.  The others are from those years, leading up to the release of HT…

Michael these pix are awesome 🙂 Would you like to show up some more? It’s kinda unfair you still hide these pictures, it’s been 10 years! 😉

hi!! mike… i would like to express myself clearly, but my English it’s a disaster… ^^!!! so, just i want to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH for this 10 years… i still here, alive, because linkin park, because your songs… one day i’ll write a letter for linkin park explaining this “i still here, alive…”and of course with a better English…

Hi Mike, I would also like you later want the best for Hybrid Theory. Wow damn 10 years, I’m old. At that time I was 22 years old and my current husband has given me the album, because my “One Step Closer” has fallen so much. Awesome and now 10 years have passed. And I’m very pleased, we are your you musically developed have. I’m too very proud of the LPU community, the fans are so great. I can’t unfortunately come to the Summit to London, I got no more holidays. It was very nice to meet you in Berlin on 20/10/2010 at the Meet & Greet and talked briefly to have. I also hope that my small gifts have you liked (sauerkraut glass, Dickmanns, scarf). LP ROCKS forever. LG Janine

  5. Olla Chaz on November 1, 2010 at 2:47 pm

I remember how I was blown away when I first heard the record 🙂
    Happy 10th Anniversary.

  6. diegors92 on October 31, 2010 at 6:44 pm

10 years ago… “Shut up when I’m talking to you”…
And now “Steel unload, final blow”
From “Forfeit the game before somebody else takes you out of the frame” to “You all gotta stop talking and start trying to catch up motherfu…”

Unbelievable… Sometimes we just don’t realize how fast time passes by. Yesterday, we were all trying to find some good song that said “This is who I am”… And suddenly, an amazing album from an incredible band came out. This album pushed aside the old concept of music. This project was not only “good music”… Somehow, it completed our lives.

Thanks so much for the awesome gift you offered to your French fans in Bercy when you played APFMH on October 25th. When I heard the first notes, I was kind of flabbergasted and I’m still head over heels. I can’t get over it!!! The only thing I hope now is that you’ll be back in France ASAP. We are already missing the 6 of you! We won’t be able to wait for 3 more years 🙂

  12. anjalika on October 29, 2010 at 11:51 pm

i was just wondering..i’ve heard A Thousand Suns a lot of times and in this particular track called Blackout (which is also my favorite and it is very different and i like that about this track), did u use some indian (specifically Punjabi beats – the instrument is ‘dhol’) in the starting of this track? haven’t u right? it’s damn cool…the reason i know this is because i am from India and i think the track sounds damn cool…

  13. rinashinoda on October 29, 2010 at 11:30 pm

Posting my comment a little too late but still…happy 10th birthday Hybrid Theory.I don’t know if you’ve ever imagined that your first record would change the music industry so much…well it did 🙂 You created a name for yourself-the band that doesn’t fit into one category.Proud to be your fan.

  17. reecolombo on October 28, 2010 at 4:43 am

It’s been 10 years I’m listening to your songs! I can remember clearly the first time I heard Linkin Park. I was at a friend’s house and she put the track 8 on, I mean, In the End. How could I forget? At that time, Crawling was playing on the radios. After that, my life was only crazyness! I listened LP ALL THE TIME! XD. This my life’s step has gone. I’m not crazy about u anymore. I grew up and learned that family, friends, God and other things are also important. As Chester says in a song, “You live what you learn” and it’s true. But I can state that you were and always will be a big part of my life which I keep with pround in my s2. The best band ever

  18. cinthia22 on October 28, 2010 at 12:20 am

  19. zeljka on October 27, 2010 at 2:14 pm

coming back from your concert in cologne. hearing the old songs and the new ones and still feeling good like 10 years ago. what would life be without your music? i can’t imagine… but i’m glad that you’re still there, writing songs, playing gigs. it’s a gift. and i just want to say ‘thank you guys’.

  20. jannipiiin on October 27, 2010 at 1:31 pm

Once again, a huge congratulations to you guys! I really can’t believe it’s been 10 years. Thank you for awaking my love of music and art of all sorts. Almost 10 years ago at the tender age of 11, one of my classmates had stolen HT from his brother and I rememeber clear as day when they put the CD in and “Papercut” came on. I was fascinated that music could sound like that, and I was hooked through the entire album. From then on you’ve kept me fascinated. It’s been amazing to follow your journy as a band and I’m as proud as ever to be a fan! I can’t even explain how much you mean to me. Hopefully I’ll see you this saturday. Love, Janni ❤

Look at those clean shaven youngins. When I was young I was really into the local band scene. Tho its not THAT different now…ha..There was another band called Xero back then. I remember because my boy practically rocked the same Xero shirt everyday. Hmm..I should go hunt them down. LOL would it make you feel good knowing that I have that cassette too? I can’t not wish you guys a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY. Since your all practically living under my bed. Any and all wordplay intended. pfft. ;C)

  33. alenakol on October 26, 2010 at 9:02 am

Mike! We are very happy! We are happy for you, very much love, much appreciated. So fast time flies. It is a pity that I did not know very well English, I would read all the posts here, this is interesting) There probably written a lot of pleasant words. But all these words can not describe all the true feelings that we feel for you and your music. Develop further, write music, make people think and act, you are good at it) We believe in you)
sorry for the possible illiteracy (

happy birthday Hybri Theory! we tried to make it trend for two days, tweeting #HybridTheory over and over again on Twitter, but it worked only in San Paul for few minutes… we wanted to do something special, but nerd trendings seem to be more important for Twitter. Happy birthday again, HT. and thank you for creating your band with the guys, you don’t know what your music means to many of us. hope you’ll stay in the world of music for many years, wish you the best.

  36. 路人甲 on October 26, 2010 at 3:07 am

  39. dorito82 on October 25, 2010 at 11:53 pm

Wow, that first image of you guys is crazy! So young… Idk if I’ve ever seen a grown man with skin as smooth as yours. Do you ever look back at yourself and ponder shaving your beard off completely instead of the ocassional trim? I hadn’t jumped on the LP bandwagon yet, but, when I did, HT became my favorite album. If you’re willing to, please share more from your stash!

  40. boger7lp on October 25, 2010 at 8:06 pm

certainly were good times for those who live
and I think it would be more significant that love their songs
HT as before AND ONE PART OF ME and are great
    should play them live now
and not so old as HIT THE FLOOR ON -A PLACE FOR MY HEAD – BY MY SELF

have forgotten lately With You and is a favorite

I hope we can celebrate many anniversaries of HT and other various albums yet to come around! Love u guys! ❤

  48. Michael Macdonald on October 25, 2010 at 2:45 pm

Happy birthday to Hybrid Theory from here in Scotland, UK!

Mike, hope you’re well. There’s a lot of hype on LPLive and LP Association about how you played A Place For My Head in Paris! I know this was probably just a one off for the Hybrid Theory anniversary, and might not appear again in the rest of the tour, but even this one addition to the setlist has really got people excited.

Just putting that out there, in the hope that perhaps you might consider keeping A Place For My Head (or an alternative rarely played Hybrid Theory song) in the set.

Regardless, whatever set you play will be great. Looking forward to seeing you in Manchester!

    Thanks Mike, all the best

  49. melbapinckney on October 25, 2010 at 2:43 pm

WOW, Mike! That is so awesome. I was reading this past spring, that you guys use to be call Xero, then Hybrid Theory, and now Linkin Park. You use to play at the Whisky in CA. All before your first LP, Hybrid Theory in 2000. Yes, it’s been 10 years of excellent music. You and LP are still ROCKING!!! Keep up the great work and I hope you enjoy your B-Day yesterday. Love You!

@Kathy Heh, I had similar revelations. It was made all the more weird since I got Reanimation first. Also, that Dinosaur Comic was awesome!

  64. Mafiosa on October 25, 2010 at 10:58 am

It’s funny, I look back and see that are already 10 years… 10 years of that record that would change my life. There is no explanation for it, a ‘why’, just changed my life, Hybrid Theory is the disk that fits perfectly at any time of my life, in any situation, at all stages, and today, 24.10.2010, are 10 years I’ve known those 6 guys that have now become the air I breathe. Hybrid Theory, the biggest selling album of the decade, the album with more than 24 million copies sold worldwide, the album that made me grow up and be who I am today, the album that changed my life. Congratulations Hybrid Theory, Thanks Linkin Park. ♥

  65. thomasbrablec on October 25, 2010 at 10:42 am

10 years, it’s been 10 years. That’s two thirds of my life. I remember one day when I heard “One Step Closer” on NPR and I fell in love with it right away. I’ve been listening to you ever since. Of course I probably didn’t understand most of the songs back then, but now I do! haha. The music never got “old,” it’s great no matter how many times I play it.
Thank you guys for everything, you have been a great inspiration and an influence on my life. Without you I wouldn’t be the person I am today (damn, that’s going deep).
I hope that you keep on playing, writing and being awesome for at least a hundred years more. I really hope that I can meet you guys one day.

  66. kathyxx on October 25, 2010 at 10:27 am

I remember the first time I picked up Hybrid Theory and said “Wait, THAT’s what they LOOK LIKE? Who’s the weirdo in the red hair?” Those were some good memories.

Also, I like how today’s Dinosaur Comics is completely relevant to this post

  67. allbutover on October 25, 2010 at 10:23 am

Wow its crazy to think it was only 10 years ago!

I remember your first show in Toronto in this TINY little bar…it was crazy to think only a handful of people knew who you were at the show!

I ran linkinparkweb.com 10 years ago too & LP has been a huge influence on my life, thats for sure. Thank you!

Mike, Check out my band!!! http://www.allbutover.com

  68. ellzworth on October 25, 2010 at 9:49 am

Ah yes. I remember when I first heard a demo tape of some of the early Hybrid Theory tracks. It was a “personal copy” from someone who knew you guys. I was in high school, Senior year, FairFax High School on Melrose. I will never forget that experience. Thanks for keeping the music scene fresh and energetic. You just raised the bar once again with ATS. Thank you.

Thanx for nurturing my musical buds !!!

    LP FOR LIFE !!!

  73. Linkin Theorist on October 25, 2010 at 8:38 am

I remember 10 years ago, I didn’t think that Linkin Park will have lots of influence to me and my life, you you guys did. I still can’t believe it has been 10 years. Those 10 years have flew by like 10 days. Hybrid Theory always was my favorite album (generally). I feel so nostalgic since yesterday, haha.

By the way, at least we made #HybridTheory trending in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but it definitely deserved to trend worldwide for hours.

Thank you so much Mike! For this little insight of your early days and for the work you and the other guys have done in the past 10+ years. You guys have enlightened my life in a way I can’t even describe. I love your music, your creativity, your involvement in all things related to the band, your charity towards those who need it, you got the whole package, you are unique, and that’s what makes me a proud Linkin Park fans.
