  15. whosmurry on December 30, 2010 at 9:16 pm

Kinda surprising to see Mumford & Sons on here. I love that song.

My favorite song of the year is in sort of similar vein– “Champaign, Illinois” by Old 97’s. Because of this line, “If you died, fearing God and painfully employed, you will not go to Heaven, you’ll go to Champaign, Illinois.” And because they had the balls to rewrite “Desolation Row” and ask Bob Dylan if he liked it, then when he did, they gave him a co-writing credit. It’s here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PogH9fXLKRQ

And while we’re recommending things, have you watched Jay Smooth on YouTube? Every time I watch one of his videos, I think, “I bet Mike Shinoda would enjoy this.”

  16. adiek84 on December 30, 2010 at 4:01 pm

Epic choices! For most people probably more a list of recommendations as I bet that the most don’t know 80% of those songs, me included. By the way, you really seem to be into The Books! Oh boy! I wanna share my Top 10 songs, too:
    1. Laura Marling – Hope in the Air (who by the way played a big part in Mumford&Sons career, so props to her for that as well) 2. Linkin Park – When they come for me 3. Rihanna – Man Down 4. My Chemical Romance – Planetary Go 5. Ellie Goulding – Starry Eyed 6. Diddy Dirty Money – Hello Goodmorning 7. Lykke Li – Get some 8. Get Busy Committee – Opening Ceremony 9. Mumford and Sons – Little Lion Man 10. Far east movement – Like a G6

I know half of the songs posted above… I thought there would be more rap songs. Get Busy Committee – the best!
What about Cypress Hill’s “Rise Up” and The Roots’ “How I Got Over”? I find ’em as the best mainstream albums.

  21. Shinoda's Army on December 30, 2010 at 4:16 am

The music you like is not bad music, it’s just not my personal taste. Arcade Fire and Earl Sweatshirt are my picks of the ten you posted, I like things which are unusual or who don’t always appeal to the white, conservative, married couple with the 2.5 kids. I’m addicted to South Korean hip hop artists right now. I still encourage you to look up Jinusean, I wanna know what you think of them. They blend English and Korean, and their flow as rappers is godly. They are sort of like the South Korean version of Cypress Hill, songs like “Gasoline” and “Bing Bing Bing” are both organic and unique.

Hi Mike!😀 Oh my freaking god! I love your music collection of favorite songs of 2010! Some videos I saw already. GBC’s ‘Opening Ceremony’ like “YAY!” I love the song and video. The song, ‘Contra’ by Vampire Weekend, I hear that song alot! I love it!😀 Mumford & Sons’ ‘Little Lion Man’ is a nice song and that band is great! (no drummer needed? Wow!!) I like Arcade Fire’s ‘We Used To Wait’ and King Fantastic’s ‘Lost Art of Killing.’ Old school sound with LCD Soundsystem’s ‘One Touch.’ Yeah, I remember Earl Sweatshirt and Cold Freezing Night’s “wicked” videos, hahahaha! I love this! I love you Mike!😀 Thanks for sharing, Babe!
