A Thousand Suns Tour Update

February 1, 2011

Finally got a moment to sit down and give you guys an update.  First of all, being a native Californian, I don’t know why you East Coasters complain about this weather.  Single digit temperatures and record-breaking snowfall?  No problem!

Actually, we’ve had to make some adjustments to our touring plans as we’ve gone.  Weather has made certain flights and trips difficult, and we’re actually looking at options on plane, train, and bus for the trip from Boston to New York tonight after the show.  (If all else fails, I have a dogsled lined up for me, Chester, and Phoenix).  Luckily, all the shows have gone on without any major complications so far.

We’ll be doing a bunch of interviews and a performance on SNL this week, so look for us on TV and the world wide interwebz.

Check out this rave review of our show on Technorati:

  2. thegluelpfan on February 9, 2011 at 7:12 am

I heard the food on the train was pretty bad 😀 You know don’t get the wrong impression that trains are a bad way to travel…they are pretty fun actually 😀 I hope you tour will countinue without problems 🙂

  3. Tanner Wolf on February 7, 2011 at 4:41 pm

    So, Mike

How was the snow in Minnesota? 3 feet, most snowdrifts reached 6-7 feet. It’s chaos living here

Your show was AWESOME there~ Though I was in the way back, I could see it perfectly.

  4. artistspin on February 5, 2011 at 6:47 pm

it was worth going out in the snow seeing you guy’s perform. Please come back to Boston. BTW the dogsled thing why you only have a sled for you, chester, and phoniex? What about Rob, Brad, and Joe are you leaving them behind.

LOL I don’t see why people should whine so much about the snow and ice!
yes it may be an annoyance… but its actually fun truding through teh snow and skating through that ice XD feels like some sort of mission or epic journey haha
anyways I hope you guys had a safe trip! and I am most certainly looking foward to your performance in NYC tomorrow 😀

My 12yr old daughter has been trying to win tickets for weeks from 94hjy, she doesn’t know I already bought her a ticket! Their going to be so surprised when we show up at Mohegan Sun for the show! Hi Mike. There are many cities in Brazil that can receive a tour of A Thousand Suns: Belem, Fortaleza, Recife, Salvador, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Porto Alegre, Brasilia and Goiania. Think about it, you may end up choosing all these cities in his screenplay for shows. Because you know that Linkin Park has many fans in Brazil. Bye

I wish I could see snow too. 😉

  27. biloxibutterfly on February 2, 2011 at 10:12 am

I was at the ATL show and I totally agree with the review. I wrote to you about this before (check e-mail on LinkinPark.com) but I had never been to a rock concert before and i was kinda nervous. Great music bring different types of people together. People i probably would never cross paths with, we were all singing along with you and Ches. We were all celebrating the band and slapping high fives. It was all love and I didn’t want the night to end. Please consider adding more tour dates this year and come to New Orleans. Thanks for the update and the digital download of the ATL show. Safe Travels 🙂

  28. lpsnumber1 on February 2, 2011 at 6:22 am

Mike, have you ever seen Nor Cal in the winter? No, not San Francisco. NOR Cal. Way up here in the ice and snow. Past San Francisco, past Sacramento, past Chico, even past Redding. Up in the mountains. It’s beautiful. There’s even a little town called Chester. Haha! You guys should come visit sometime. 🙂

  29. linkinparkforever275 on February 2, 2011 at 5:22 am

i want to see your dogsled mike 😀 with you chazzy and phx on 😀

Dear Mike, i am from Argentina, and we DON’T have too much snow, we have snow only in a little part of our country, in a state located too far away from where i live. So i love the snow and i really envy you LOL
hahaha don’t worry, we know you guys are really busy and a little complicated, just keep up the good work and, as always, thank you for all the things you do to provide us, to the fans and the inner circle lpu, the best music of the world!!!!!

I would do my best to see you in SNL, i hope they’ll put the transmition on internet too.

    Hugs from Argentina 🙂

yoo mike did u ever think ten years later you’d be where you are now?? take a look back at exactly ten years ago bro

  39. Alexandra Nofi on February 1, 2011 at 7:53 pm

Look, I live out in a part of Connecticut that’s not far from the Long Island Sound, and frankly, we’ve been hit with the big storms first before it goes further inland. East Coasters got no business complaining. Once a week we get a terrible snow storm, usually mixed with ice and snow and below 10 degree temperatures. The snow itself isn’t an issue, it’s my city’s unwillingness to plow and clear off bus stops, fire hydrants and sidewalks, plus annoying neighbors, that makes everything difficult.

That being said, BE SAFE. I would rather you re-schedule or cancel a show than get stuck in this weather.

  40. kathyxx on February 1, 2011 at 7:36 pm

clearly, Brad, Rob and Joe are the sled dogs.

  41. highlandpark1999 on February 1, 2011 at 7:06 pm

Haw! Chester and Phoenix as snow dogs! Mike you’re hilarious!
    Is it really winter time?
Yeah, weather here in L.A. is very nice, good enough to take a trip to the beach. It does get chilly at night, but a sweater does the trick.
See you at Staples Center in March!

  42. takumademonreborn on February 1, 2011 at 7:05 pm

i hope you guys will have an asian tour

  43. mishah82 on February 1, 2011 at 6:56 pm

AMAZING show in Philly last night! 🙂 It was my fourth time and you guys are still hands down my favorite band (especially live). Was my favorite show I’ve seen from you guys. Being that I was dead center to the stage and Chester held my hand for 3.2 seconds during “crawling”: sure does help too!! HA!! Yeah, the weather sucks… We’re getting that ice storm and it started already….. Def. not a “snow bunny” …California is sounding pretty damn good now!! Be safe tonight and your future travels.. And have a rockin 2011 tour!! 🙂

  44. Fekenji on February 1, 2011 at 6:44 pm

for real, I would Like to stay with you (Likin Park)doesnt matter if the weather is bad or good, Stay with you, its better than another thing

  45. pedsrnwis on February 1, 2011 at 5:53 pm

So glad the snow didn’t affect the St. Paul snow last Friday. Most amazing concert! Second time I’ve seen you, both times with my son. Love how your music crosses generations! You hand slapped my son (amongst others) during “In the End” 🙂 your enthusiasm and energy are appreciated!! Keep entertaining and bringing us great LP music!! Love Love Love your live shows. THANK YOU!

  46. jumanan on February 1, 2011 at 5:46 pm

Was really looking forward to seeing you guys again at MSG on Friday. Unfortunately, will not be able to make it. hope everyone enjoys the show and I hope the tour goes well! Please come back to New Jersey/New York soon!!

  47. dianael on February 1, 2011 at 5:37 pm

I missed you guys in Sydney one year because I was recovering after a near-death experience. My daughter almost missed you last year as she was recovering from her own near-death experience. Luckily we were both able to see you in Sydney on December 11th and my son-in-law actually got to meet you at the LP Summit. That concert was the best I’ve ever seen (and I’ve seen pretty much everybody)and I can’t wait for you to come back. Make it soon, please.
Sounds like the snow is causing havoc over there but spare a thought for us here in Oz. We’re preparing for the worst-ever natural disaster in Oz as Cyclone Yasi bears down on Nth Queensland. And we’re still recovering from the floods.

  48. carissa127 on February 1, 2011 at 5:32 pm

The show was great last night. Thank you for the awesome time. Your band does some great things. One of those great things is I am able to share time and also have a blast with my daughter who is 14 and has been a fan since she was 6. yes 6 years old. This was her 2nd LP concert. LP underground too is awesome and we are going to renew. Your band is helping us parents teach these children that you have to love your neighbor and help them and its a COOL thing to do.
SO it could of been sleeting, snow, sunny, rain or wind tunnel………We were going to be there and were. Best of luck to you all with the rest of the tour. We will be following PEACE, LOVE AND MUSIC 🙂

i live in mexico, there´s no snow here. I would like to see snowing someday

  50. 路人甲 on February 1, 2011 at 5:24 pm

What makes me feel even more “no problem” is. The coldest temperature in Hong Kong is 7 degree CELSIUS. xD
Hey Mike, btw, i wish you could have more time to be on here or Onion, that makes me feel closer to LP since I dun have a chance to go to your tours. =D

  51. tweedle88 on February 1, 2011 at 5:03 pm

I wish i could be more UPBEAT about this snow.. but… I’m missing the Boston Linkin Park Concert because it wasn’t postponed.

I live in Albany NY.. and in no way could we have driven there in this mess… and couldn’t chance getting stranded and staying prolly two nights as this point.

So there goes my money and FINALLY a chance to see one of my favorite bands because no one comes here anymore… I was REALLY looking forward to this concert. I was so freakin excited! I hate mother nature. I really wish it was postponed so i could have made the NEXT date… but.. whatever

I hope every fan gets home Safe and sound in this Epic Blizzard from the concert.

  52. julaki1280 on February 1, 2011 at 5:01 pm

I saw you in Paris in October and it was great (well except that I have missed the beginning of the show due to fuel strikes !!! ☺ ) Anyway that was fantastic and I just can’t wait to see you again in July in France !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish tou all the best guys and whatever some can say: YOU GUYS ROCK !!!!!!!!! ♥

  53. nmyers16 on February 1, 2011 at 4:51 pm

It sucked that I wasn’t able to see you guys in Philly cause of all the nasty weather we seem to be getting. Maybe you guys should come back to Hershey in the summer and play a sick concert there.

  54. u2onair on February 1, 2011 at 4:49 pm

Mike, first of all, thank you so much for the AWESOME show you guys put on last night in Philly!!! And you finished the show before it started sleeting so we could drive back home safely. Yay!

Second, if you need to travel along the East Coast, to any major city between Boston and Washington DC, the Amtrak train is a great alternative to flying. You could take the Acela trains, which saves you about 30-45 minutes from Boston to NY. It’s fast and reliable. Of course, bad weather would probably impact the schedule somehow, but I think it’s not as volatile as flight schedules. And another good thing about trains: no TSA pat-downs. Unless you enjoy being patted down…

  55. kidthecat on February 1, 2011 at 4:48 pm

    Hey Mike.
Snow doesn’t sound too bad, but here in Vancouver it is actually sunny out.
I was really disappointed to see that you won’t come here this year. I moved here two years ago from Germany and promised myself I would see the show – and there wasn’t gonna be one.

If you ever have to stop by somewhere before going to Montreal or Toronto, Vancouver is lovely. 😀

  56. lucy228 on February 1, 2011 at 4:41 pm

Haha Mike I’m afraid snow can be a pain in the buttocks sometimes 😉
I’m so mad I missed your show on philly yesterdaayyy!!! I’m hoping you’ll do another tour again hmmmm? XP
Enjoy the rest of the tour!! And keep up!! 😀

  62. forevershamed on February 1, 2011 at 2:17 pm

I don’t blame LP but I think it sucks that TBGarden/Boston did not cancel this show. The roads are horrid even with 4 wheel drive. Everything else in the area is shut down but not a concert? Plus, concerts bring all kinds of drivers..inexperienced teens, drunks, tired parents and assholes. Many people who had tickets do not live IN the city and have a good hour drive to get there. I think it sucks even more that TBGarden is making profits off of the many people who will not make this show, myself included. I’ve never missed a LP concert..or any concert I had tickets for..and this is a first. Even public transportation sucks because buses don’t run late. I hate my life!

  63. regiw on February 1, 2011 at 1:39 pm

Reading the review reminded me once again of how impossible it seems to do what you guys do. Of course I am aware of how special and talented each of you is individually and the force your mutual work possesses, but nevertheless this perfect merge of professionalism and passion, brilliancy and kindness, confidence and modesty still seems a impossibility to me – but there you are, it is just you being yourselves, it seems.

See you guys in Germany, in a sunny summer day!

haha anyway, have fun! im sure phoenix and Chester will enjoy the run. lol See ya in LA!! ❤

  70. adiek84 on February 1, 2011 at 12:54 pm

Of course you don’t complain about the weather, it’s not that you live there and have to get to work every morning. How about we trade? You get my lousy flat in Germany and I get your crib in sunny LA?
Even though I can’t really see one of your shows in the US, I’ve been following the live updates of LPL and LPA, as well as reading Pooch’s Facebbok statuses like the bible. XD People really seem to like the different setlists. Derek’s Ketchup shirt was so epic! You should wear it while you perform WTCFM next time!

  71. terriaw on February 1, 2011 at 12:53 pm

We have been getting a crapload of snow this winter, so hang in there!

Awesome to see such a rave review on Technorati. They gave you guys the credit you deserve! I just saw your show in St. Paul a couple days ago – loved every minute of it. I loved your set list and your performance was phenomenal! Thank you!

Here in Portugal it’s pretty cold too… you’re not the only one (…”starring at the sun…”) LOL 😀
I wish I was there to see your show, but good luck for ya and the guys.
You can’t forget the rest of the guys, they’re important! Ask the lady/man of the dogsled for another one to the rest of the band, ok? We need the whole band so, help the others! 😀
Oh… and your b-day and phoenix’s are almost here, we’ll make you and him a TT! – Fan’s words 😀
    Take care.

That was a cool review. I agree, from what I have seen, You guys do put your hearts out and just preform amazing concerts. I can’t wait to see you guys Feb. 23rd. SNL should be awesome, I hope there will be a Wayne’s World skit, that would be so awesome. (“Live in the now” Game On!”) It’s one of my favorite movies/sketch. I wish you guys all the best and hope all is well. Take care. 🙂

Whoa the photo looks epic!!!! 😀 I hope you won’t have to change your flights or anything due to bad weather. And most importantly try NOT to get sick! (Yes Mike, I’m referring to you. We all know you get sick at the end of each tour cause according to Dr. Bennington your brain’s broken xD)

Anyways, have fun at the rest of the tour and look out for a girl from India tonight at the m&g…she’s one of my buddies and she’s pretty excited to meet ya 😉

my friend is supposed to fly in tomorrow from ohio :/ were going to the new York show. We’ll see what happens.
Also please ditch top spin, they really haven’t sent me my San Diego tickets and customer service is horrible.
