American McGee’s Alice at G1988

June 7, 2011

A cool show is coming up at Gallery 1988 tomorrow (Wednesday) here in LA. As you know, I was working on a vinyl collectible with an “Alice” theme, so for those of you who liked that, you might like this show, which celebrates American McGee’s take on “Alice.” It features Chet Zar, Dr. Romanelli, Luke Chueh, and others. Here’s one more image, by Kevin Tong:

EDIT: The opening of the show at 1988 was awesome; Cate Rangel’s piece was a standout:

Everyone got a chance to see / play the new game as well.  Kudos to American McGee for amazing work here:

I was a huge fan of the first game and this one looks like it’s gonna be even more awesome…can’t wait to play it.

cool look at the gamedesign started from first Doom. were good times

Your “Tenth Gate” piece is so amazing, it’s one of the best paintings you ever made (at least from the ones I’ve seen). I’m glad you contributed it to the show and I don’t even wanna think about all the art work that just collects dust at your home. Also, you really seem to be inspired by Vishnu. I like it. =D
As to the other pieces at the Alice show, I really liked Julie Dillon’s and Zeng Shuo’s works.

Wow your piece was downright amazing. I’m upset with myself that I didn’t get to talk to you because I couldn’t find a right time to jump in. I decided to get noticed the right way 🙂 by bringing that canvas I had the picture on, of my MS art collection I showed you at Weenie Roast with some paint pens. Hoped for some quick doodles and a bit of convo but I didn’t get to you before you left. Going to contact Jensen to see if I can potentially obtain your piece and make a nice donation to Hugo for MFR. Hope your Alice vinyl comes out soon, you should do a release show for that 😉

  19. arumiko93 on June 8, 2011 at 11:53 am

so the more I think about that second picture I realize lil’ alice doesn’t have any choice but to introduce herself to the Griffin…one step back and over the cliff she goes (certain death)…face your “fears” “Alice” and you might just have a chance in/with life! (plus, the Griffin is a protector of treasures unknown)A whole new meaning to a “rock and a hard place”…

New single “Gold Cobra” from Limp Bizkit’s Gold Cobra

  31. arumiko93 on June 7, 2011 at 11:03 am

I sometimes feel like the alice in this picture…meeting the griffin that is protecting the treasures that are beckoning me. Sometimes, you just have to get past the fear and introduce yourself to him and he’ll let you in!

  32. adiek84 on June 7, 2011 at 10:48 am

I saw that flyer a while ago, but forgot about the show again, so thanks for the reminder. Luke Chueh is probably one of the coolest and nicest artists ever, so any show with his work is great. I didn’t know he made that poster for Project Revolution…how cool is that?! I know I’m repeating myself, but he should make your next album cover! 😄

  33. kathyxx on June 7, 2011 at 10:37 am

I love love love the scale and that atmospheric perspective of that griffin. Holy wow.

Seems like a pretty interesting art show! Are you going? Speaking of art, I saw your post on facebook that you started going through the submissions from the Iridescent Art Contest. Nice 😀
