*hides her pointilism drawings under the table* That’s useless, though, since you already have them in your hands ^o^ But this is great! Thank you for showing it! Who is he, Mike? I’d like to contact him and share our interest in dots :D

My name is Leena and I’m a freshman at San Francisco State University. We have a speech coming up and it can be about absolutely anything we want. I’m choosing to do mine on your Glorious Excess art shows. I think it would be extremely awesome if I could have a short interview with you just over the internet to help me with my speech. I admire you a lot for your art and music and I would appreciate it so much if I could ask you a few questions. I don’t know any way to contact you of course so I’m just hoping you’ll read and respond to this and give me some of your time. But if you can’t I definitely understand that too.

  16. cincybmxlpfreak on March 5, 2012 at 8:15 am

That is soooo amazing! =-O The photorealism he captured out of only using black dots is insane.

  17. shoegaze4u on March 5, 2012 at 7:57 am

    Short calculation:
    3.2 Million dots in 210 hours=
    4.2 dots every second!

Respect! How does it arm looks like? Popeye? lol

I studied art in college, but to this day, I will always enjoy watching someone else draw, paint, sculpt, etc. for than anything else. There is something very soothing about watching other artist’s make art. Maybe it’s because, no matter what form we enjoy most, at the end of the day we are all artists, and can tell each other we understand without saying a single word.

Of course I just said a whole paragraph which kind of defeats my point…

  31. rebygrabeel on March 4, 2012 at 1:20 pm

My mother and father are artists and painters. This is wonderful and admirable work, which in my city (Manaus) is not as valued.

  32. mssueellen on March 4, 2012 at 12:55 pm

Wow, this is so great. It reminds me one of my favorite paintings “Sunday Afternoon at the Grant Jatté Island” from George Seurat. Though he used little dots from different colors. But certainly, this is pretty amazing! Thax for sharong it.

  33. thepixelpod on March 4, 2012 at 12:53 pm

hehe cool! 210 hours are 8 days and 8 hours :P

  34. vickykun on March 4, 2012 at 12:45 pm

Wow. I mean WOW. Pointilism… I´m sure that I´ve heard that term in my Art´s class when I was a little kid ( something about 7 years old). Yeah, here my country we learn about cubism, suprematism with that age ( it depends, some schools are different)…

I´m not sure if it was exactly pointilism but I can remember that it had something to do with drawing points.

  35. kelly jean on March 4, 2012 at 12:38 pm

I remember learning this in high school as stippling. Anyway it’s kind of funny- I’ve seen this before, it has been around for quite some time and I thought it was something you might have shared. Guess not haha

  36. lazizash on March 4, 2012 at 12:34 pm

Oh my God! Amazing! I have nothing to say. Awesome

  37. evooba on March 4, 2012 at 12:26 pm

  39. emzlp123 on March 4, 2012 at 12:10 pm

Good. Sweet. Jesus. That was like art porn…I couldnt even imagine drawing (or dotting) something as amazing as that! 3.2 millions dots … wow.
Giving you ideas for your next art show? ;P
    Have a nice day!

  40. exotiquesfrors on March 4, 2012 at 12:08 pm

The most simple thing like a dot can create a wonderful rich in detail artwork. O_o!

    Amazing!! Beautiful and valuable.

And Mike, you make me work hard again with my pigment liner.

    Thanks a lot.

  41. romy90 on March 4, 2012 at 12:03 pm

this is truly amazing! thanks for the sharing!

  42. adiek84 on March 4, 2012 at 12:01 pm

That’s awesome. One of the reasons why I absolutely hate drawing or painting is that I have absolutely no patience, it just annoys me to death. So this would be like the ultimate torture for me…maybe I shouldn’t have said this.

I was listening to M.I.A while watching the video, the sound of it merged well with her music…XD

    LPU Chat, Mike?

  43. yantus on March 4, 2012 at 12:00 pm

Keep post new amazing artist, Mike. It gives me crazy inspiration!

  44. anvanoppens on March 4, 2012 at 11:58 am

Results of pointilism can be very impressive. I once tried a painting like that in art school. Since you’re showing us this video, I’m thinking about trying to draw in pointilism… Thanks for giving me inspiration, haha!
