Bidding Opens On Original Shinoda Painting: “Follow The Leader”

December 1, 2010

Happy Holidays.  I painted the piece above, entitled “Follow The Leader”, for Ron English’s “Family Tradition” art show early this year.  I decided that it would look better in one of your homes than in mine, so I’m auctioning it off. Go to the link below to bid on it.

Proceeds go to Music For Relief.  The auction is live until December 21, that way it will (hopefully) be able to arrive on your doorstep around the holidays.

Linkin Park Gundam Collector’s Edition, Available Tomorrow

November 23, 2010

Exciting news for Gundam collectors: tomorrow, a limited-edition Gundam model kit, bundled with our album A Thousand Suns, will be available.  These images are from the packaging of the kit.  The model looks like this:

The model kit is here on the heels of the “Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs.” arcade game, which uses The Catalyst as its theme song.  This was the first time a western artist has ever been featured in a game bearing the Gundam name.

Here’s a great article about the collaboration:

First-Ever LPU Summit Starts Today

November 10, 2010

For those of you who are attending The Summit: welcome to London; we hope you have a lot of fun today.  After getting settled, there will be a couple Music For Relief projects, and a football (not the American kind) tournament at Hyde Park.

We decided to keep day one simple, since some people are just getting into town–in some cases they’re coming from far away.   Some of you are meeting up (in many cases, in person for the first time), and planing your own events around the LPU ones.  Great!

Tomorrow will be packed full of events, including opportunities to check out a tour bus, take photos on our stage, win signed stuff, and jam on the band’s instruments.  I’m putting this guitar out there for you guys to play:

We’re also going to be sitting down with you guys for a while tomorrow, and we’ll be signing stuff for the entire group.

We hope this is the first of many great events for the new LPUnderground.  To join the LPU, go here:

Linkin Park Wins Best Live Act at EMAs

November 7, 2010

Thanks again to all the great folks who are a part of our live show, both behind the scenes and in the crowd.  We appreciate you guys, and were honored to be given the award tonight for “Best Live Act.”

Besides the performance of “Waiting For The End,” which was aired on the show, we played a 60 minute set for the crowd in front of the Puerta De Alcalá tonight.  That show will be premiering on MTV in the coming weeks.

Here was a snippet…that crowd was LOUD.

Linkin Park Live, SAW 3D, Ron Artest, and LPU Summit

October 31, 2010

Hey guys,

The tour is going great so far.  Thanks to all the fans attending the shows–they’ve been a lot of fun.  Because we had so many new songs and a bunch of new technology (new to us, at least) on stage, we started the tour with one set list, with the intention of switching it up as we got comfortable with it.  A few shows later, we began improvising a few parts, swapping songs in and out, and jamming a bit on some things.  (For live audio collectors: we made up our current Bleed It Out / APFMH jam a couple days ago in Hamburg, live on the spot.  I was pretty excited when it all fell into place, and I think you can hear that on the audio.)  If you want to grab mp3s of the songs, go here.

Chester posted about a couple things recently.  Firstly, he was really moved about the announcement from Ron Artest (GO LAKERS!) that he was auctioning off his championship ring to fund mental and emotional health services for youths who can afford them.  When Chester told me about this, I thought it was awesome…go to ronartest.com (his link is currently down, but I’m sure info will be coming soon).

In more big Chester news, not only did he have a #1 album in the country with “A Thousand Suns,” he’s also in the #1 movie in America this week: Saw 3D opened at the top of the box office charts.  Congrats to Chester and the SAW team.

And finally, the LPU Summit is almost here!  It’s shaping up to be a great event.  If you want to meet the band, play our instruments, tour the backstage, see a tour bus, win signed stuff, and have generally have an awesome time, sign up today.  Get an annual LPU member pass, and you’ll get into the Summit for free (not to mention all the awesome stuff you get with annual membership).

Before I go, here was the Bleed It Out / A Place For My Head performance from Hamburg…see you at the show!

Thanks for making yesterday a great birthday for Hybrid Theory!  Here are 4 images from my personal stash for you guys to enjoy. The first image is pretty cool…that’s the news clipping from our first show ever (as Xero), at the Whisky.  The others are from those years, leading up to the release of HT…

Fans and band meet up at First-Ever Linkin Park Underground Summit

October 18, 2010

This year, Linkin Park’s fan organization, The LP Underground, celebrates it’s 10th birthday.  With that being the case, we’re working harder than ever to make the LPU more than just a “fan club.”

LPU is one of the most special and exciting ways to connect with the band.  It’s not about being “the world’s biggest superfan.”  You’ll find them there, but most people belong to LP Underground because they want to go behind the music and the concerts, make friends, and have fun.

On November 10-11th, 2010 in London, England, we will be holding our biggest, most ambitious fan event in the history of the organization, and we’re calling on our fans all over Europe (and all over the world) to come be a part of the celebration.  We’ve called it The LP Underground Summit. It’s an exclusive event where you’ll meet the band, connect with fellow LPU members, and have chances to be a part of one-of-a-kind experiences like meeting the touring crew, taking a backstage tour led by the band, or playing our actual on-stage instruments.

The event runs over the course of two days, leading up to our performance at the O2 Arena on November 11.  You’re in charge of arranging your own transportation and accommodations, so you’re welcome to plan your trip however you want.  Come early, stay late, or just show up for the day of the concert.

ALL current members (LPU9 and LPUX, everywhere in the world) are invited.  Annual LPU members get in FREE.  If you’re not a member yet, join now to get access to The Summit.

Since the event is in London, we’ve already got a lot of interest from fans in the UK…so we’re counting on you guys from other countries to make the trip.  Germany, France, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Austria, Denmark, Switzerland, Poland, Czech Rep., and LP fans everywhere: come to The Summit and represent!

To reserve your spot at The Summit, go here.  See you in London.
